Sony Ericsson :: One New Message Message Disappeared
Sep 30, 2010
Recently, my Vivaz got a little flurry of SMS messages and once i'd opened them all the small grey envelope in the top left remained. I turned my vivaz off and on again (as any true techno wizard does) and the envelope vanished. However it has no gone COMPLETELY. When I get a text, my phone doesn't vibrate, make a noise (and no it's not on silent etc) I don't get a message which says "1 new message" and no envelope appears. After a while the lights come on and the screen goes dark grey, as if it's about to do something, but can't quite make it. The only way I can see if I have a message is to have my inbox open all the time, and when I tap my phone the message "appears" in my inbox. I also get the red wavy lines appear in the messaging window. Any ideas how I can make my little envelope come back? Or make the phone make a noise again? I've checked all the sound and messaging settings, and have downloaded and updates the software.
My Vivaz no longer alerts me when I get a text, there is no sound or vibration, it is not on silent mode and I've checked in my message settings the volume and that a sound is supposed to play when a text arrives. The envelope that used to show at the top of the screen when I received a text no longer appears either. The only way to know if i've got a new message is to go into my inbox where it appears; the side of the phone will then flash but still no sound. I ran a software update, then a reset and software update, but neither have made any difference.
Anyone know if there is a message reminder App for the Vivaz? Don't know why but when I have my phone on silent with vibrate alert ON, I always seem to miss messages. Do Sony Ericsson have plans to add this to there software?
Does anybody know how when receiving a text message with the Elm phone i can get just the name of the sender and not the 1st line of the text viewed on screen?

I recently bought a w890i locked to the Three network, and unlocked/debranded it using Omnius. I've done this before lots of times, so I know I didn't make a mistake. I have all the right drivers installed and I followed the instructions to the letter. However, when I finished, I noticed that I was getting an "invalid Sim" message. I tried unlocking it again but it didn't help - it said it was already unlocked. I checked the lock status using left, left and sure enough, it is unlocked. So just to rule out a problem with the sim, I tried a few different sims that I had lying around. The Three sim that came with the phone didn't work, and neither did the O2 or Vodafone sims that I tried. but an old Virgin Mobile sim worked perfectly. So what's the problem and how do I fix it. It's possible the problem was already there before I unlocked/debranded the phone but I never checked since I'm not on the Three network.I thought it might be a problem with the CDFS. I backed-up the TA and CDFS from another w890i as a precaution (like I say, this isn't my first time) but I never backed this one up beforehand believing that I could just use the TA and CDFS extracted from the earlier phone. However, now I've read that the CDFS is unique to each phone, so I'm wondering what I should do. What will happen if I try to restore the TA/CDFS from another phone? To be honest, I don't really understand anything about them.I've tried re-flashing the firmware, too. It didn't help. And there's nothing wrong with the firmware - I've used it before. I know I could get the original firmware back by uploading the old CDA and connecting to the SEUS, but would that really help at all?I'm a bit of a novice, in way over my head here.
Is it possible to customize the message tone on the W760 like you can the ring tone, or are you stuck with the 8 or so canned sounds that S/E provides?
Does anyone know if theres a way to turn off this annoying feature? I dont particularly want anyone near my phone to see who has messaged or the the first line of its content?
I'm having trouble opening my received SMS messages. When I try to open the inbox, it comes up with a corrupt message on the bottom of the screen. What should I do? Can still recover them? How to restore in case?
I am having a lot of trouble with my Vivaz. A couple of days ago I was in the middle of texting and I thought it was kind of odd that I had to wait a long time for a reply, so I checked my phone inbox and I had a new message but my phone did not alert me in any way. The envelope new message symbol didn't even show up at the top of the screen. The problem has now got worse and it has permanently been like this the past day. My message tone wont go off when I get a new message, "new message" doesn't pop up, and the symbol at the top doesn't pop up either. Because I now have a constant obsession with checking my phone every 5 seconds since it doesn't alert me anymore.
Hi, whenever I plug my W595 in to charge I get a warning message saying: "Serious error. Stop Charging. Stop using phone and contact Sony Ericsson Support Center". Can anyone help me?
As I keep receiving "certificate expired" message after each installation attempt, and All after installation of latest firmware, Can someone tell me what to do?
My C902 has given me a Serious Error message as follows: Serious error. Stop Charging. Stop using your phone and contact a Sony Ericsson call centre. What is this? I have had issues with sending and receiving my texts which 02 say are not network related could this be the reason why?
Like the subject says, I'd like to know if others are experiencing a slow response / lag when you start entering a new message. On my Satio, the letters start showing up real slow then all of a sudden it catches up. Real pain. Others seeing this on your Satio ?
my phone freezes/hang when i open a msg in threaded view( coz i always use threaded view). is there something wrong?. There's no application running at that time.. and 1 thing is ELM can be affected by virus?
I wanna ask about my C510. It didn't vibrate when message come. I'm using service test, all of them work except vibrating alert. Is there something about hardware or maybe firmware?
I had a SE P990 and with it I was able to send a single message to an unlimited number of contacts by just adding contacts. Most phones are limited to 20 contacts per sent message. I am planning to buy a SE AINO but first want to be sure that it has the same feature. Does it have the same feature?
Have just got my vivaz replaced as the charge port came out with the charger to find that the new phone constantly has the new message symbol flashing in the top left hand corner, was wondering how to get rid of this as it is driving me crazy. Have tried turning the phone on and off again and deleting all my messages but it's still there.
Also am I able to transfer my existing texts to the memory card so I don't lose them if I have to get it all wiped?
My Xperia X10 Mini remain stationary with the welcome message "Sony Ericsson". I've tried a lot of time with hard reset (turn button + home button), i've also tried to connect it to my pc and start pc companion... it recognize the xperia but it can't 'repair' the phone.
I press on my favorites icon on the top menu on the homescreen and it brings up my contacts in there. I select a contact and it gives me 3 options, 'call', 'message' and 'view in contacts'. If I select view in contacts is brings up an error message saying 'Contacts: Memory Full. End some running applications and try again'. I have no applications running at all and this is my only request. Do you know how to resolve?
This week I have been having problems with the above phone, when I try to charge (using the charger supplied with the phone) it is fine for about 1 hour then I get a messgae that their is a charging error. I have checked my phone has the most up to date software, and tried phone repair using PC suite, which also fails. Am currently only able to charge via USB, which takes ages. Have only had the phone for a year - and still have 6 months to go on my contract.
The last month I get very often the message "Inactive SIM". After re-starting the phone, it works, mostly, properly again. What can I do to avoid this message? I have the W910.
For last few days I am having a problem with K790i. When I turn on my phone it shows a small box showing 'Please wait' after the Sony Ericsson logo disappears. Then after waiting for about 10 minutes another small box appears with same 'Please wait ' error. I tried the FW update by SEUS, but it's taking just 30 seconds to install, which I think is weird and might be it's not even updating. So is there any way to Master Reset the phone without being on? By the Keys or something?
I am the owner of a Sony EricksonE w580i which I am very happy with. However 2 days ago, out of the blue after sending a text I was faced with the message which I had never seen before. " REPLACE SIM OR WATCH DEMO" Despite playing the demo several times and taking out and replacing the sim several times, I was faced with the fact that my phone was locked. On replacing the sim I noticed that it was pushed into position by the battery itself, thats the way it had been set up by the Orange Shop. so it was like on a spring and the battery was pushing it into its working position. And this is the root of the problem. The sim card has to be pushed home until it clicks into position. I have small fingers and I still could not push it to its fully seated and clicked position with my fingers alone.eventually I managed to do it using the edge of a small screwdriver, but even then it took several tries before it clicked home. I believe this is a flawed design as it is not easy to do by any means. And yet using the battery to push the sim to the seated position is the way it was et up for me at point of purchase and this also gave adequate contact for me to get uninterrupted use for several months. But this is NOT correct, the Sim must be clicked and locked into position so it is no longer movable on the spring mechanism.Once it was clicked home - Hey presto ! like magic, everything worked perfectly, only had to reset the date. However, and quite worryingly, when I called the Sony Erickson help line befor I found the magic solution, I was advised that to overcome the locked system and to bypass the dreaded message, I needed to go to the Sony Erickson site, go to support and downloads then click on Update your product software/Update Service. My friendly support advisor said this would overcome the problem but the downside would be that I would lose all my memory ! I would have to start again, Calender, Tasks, Notes, Contacts. everything. This would have been a heavy price to pay, for a non solution ! Clearly the advice was a shot in the dark from the advisor ! I had already downloaded said updates as a matter of course 2 months ago so I was sceptical of solution that SE had suggested. No, this problem is mechanical/circuitry. NOT SOFTWARE !
The sim card is not locked home unless clicked, do not depend on battery pressure. Thus the phone when in "battery pressure mode" may have a circuit or a partial circuit, leaving the user at best to be in my situation to get several months of usage, and then kaputt ! as the circuit is lost and the phone thinks it needs re setting up. and it gives the message you can not get past. or the worst case of continual working /non working scenarios, which are linked to the partial contact and partial circuit.I think this may also be the route cause behind many other of the problems raised on this forum, ie; Phones turning off, or just a red light, or just a slight vibration, or phone behaving like it's dead, or phone locked etc.(from other posts it appears all the above issues are are further "encouraged" by a low battery charge) which seems to be a separate quality issue altogether. So at the end of this ramble - the tip is make absolutely sure the sim card is locked home, be patient, you may have to try many times, but it will click home if you use a tool to assist you, (fingers are not enough) and you may well just solve your problems too.Essentially I think the phone is a very good mid range phone and this design fault may be hugely tainting its performance /likability.If Sony Erickson are listening? they will correct / make easier the sim card clicking action, They will also instruct the help desk to give out the "clicking the SIM card home" advice.Rather than the totally useless - download software advice which will do nothing to create a good circuit, but will ensure lose all your information unless backed up somewhere. And while SE are at it they should also re work the battery life AND the cover panel removal. To get the back panel off is a nightmare and can lead to creating other damage as such excessive forces are required. Not good at all - BAD COVER DESIGN
