View 19 RepliesI ride my bike with the N8 used as a navigation aid sometimes. With my bluetooth headset connected, I am able to receive calls and make calls if necessary. However, I am not able to hear the navigational instructions. Is this function available, or I have not set the correct settings, or it needs an upgrade etc?

As an example, when saving your position it seems that the name used on the favourite is taken from the map and if the map is not updated with the correct adress I need to change this (this is a fact with my home adress). Further more I cannot find avway to delete a saved favourie.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've tried many navigation applications and Nokia Drive holds up rather well. But one area I noticed it seems off compared to many others is it seems to favor or use unknown names compared to other apps. It often calls out street names that are not marked as such.
For instance in Florida it seems to be calling I-95 SR 9. After a little research I found the SR 9 is a hidden designation that isn't marked by any road signs.
how to avoid highroads in Nokia drive on nokia lumia 800
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I finally tried to use Nokia Drive on a real trip (in New Jersey, USA) and I've noticed that the software often seems stuck on returning you to the originally plotted route when you deviate from it, instead of finding the best remaining route based on the new location. I'll give details for my particular trip in case this is a local issue.
We decided to take the NJ Turnpike to route 18 to River Road to Interstate 287 instead of 295 to 206 to 287 as Nokia Drive recommended (the routes are roughly equivalent in travel time, so I don't fault this initial route selection). When we entered the Turnpike, the new route kept trying to get us to 295 until we passed Exit 7 (In reality, past Exit 5 there isa considerable penalty to getting off the turnpike and onto I 295).
Finally, after Exit 7 it decided we should stay on the turnpike and get to 287 directly using Exit 10 (This too is roughly equivalent in travel time, so it was a reasonable suggestion). Once we took Exit 9 to route 18 instead it picked a different route than the one we are familiar with and this is where the biggest problem occurred. The route it suggested would enter 287 North at Exit 7, while the route we took entered 287 at Exit 9. It kept insisting we get back on its rout and get on at exit 7 to the point that when we were about to enter 287 at exit 9, it told us to get onto 287 *south* and take it to exit 7 where we would exit the highway and immediately re-enter it northbound. This is rediculous and should never have been suggested.
Am I right in my assessment that the software tries to stick to the original route instead of calculating a new one on the spot? What possible advantage can there be in doing it this way?
I just received a Lumia 900 and updated to the latest firmware and am having troubles downloading maps on nokia drive, both on the 2.0 and now 3.0. It says I need to be on wifi to download, however I am on wifi and I can access the web, email and every other function on my phone, except download maps on Nokia Drive as it doesn't recognize I am online on wifi however drive does work only it updates the map in realtime so I can't use the maps offline as it does not allow me to download offline maps. When I uninstall drive and then reinstall the app I can download from the maps for countries that do not have regions such as hong kong, however if I select US or China, a large country where you have to select the region the region/state page is blank. I have already tried soft and hard resetting to no avail and also tried different wifi networks with the results.

View 4 Replies View Relatedhaving upgraded from my much loved nokia n97 mini, to the new lumia 800 (very impressed aswell).
But.. No speed camera alerts (this was a much loved feature for me in ovi maps) No Favourite route option (again, this was a much used feature for me in ovi maps), found it brilliant if i stumbled upon a place whilst driving, and thought i want to check this place out. used to pull over where safe, and pin the point, and go back when i had time.
On the plus side, bigger mapping, 3d symbols, and a much clearer and louder voice tellig you where to go.
Just bought Nokia Lumia 810 (T-Mobile) and downloaded the maps - the internal memory is ony 8gb. With OS and the Maps it takes up considerable space. Is it possible to move the map to the SD card? If yes any link or steps to do the same?
For using Nokia Drive - is it mandatory to download the maps? Just wondering how Google Navigation / Maps work for Android as I don't recall d/l any maps on Android!
I test drove the Nokia drive on couple of known locations and both times the paths chosen were uncommon - when comparing to the inbuilt GPS in the car as well as with Google Navigation! This was US maps. I hope Nokia Maps / Drive gets better.
I downloaded and installed maps of Australia and the surfer dude voice using map loader. However my maps application did not detect any drive navigation voice. When I browsed the voices folder however it was there.i had to download another voice thru the maps application (sadly no surfer dud) in order to get voice navigation. Is there any reason for this? I am using a 5800 with v31 and im using maps v3.04. Although with both v3.03 and 3.04 the same problem was there.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have updated by n8 with Anna and Maps 3.08, 11wk41 b02, map version 0.2.43.117. It works fine except when driving to a destination on a freeway / motorway. The roadway is a gray color that blends into the background and even though it zooms in at interchanges it is small. Thus, at 70 MPH you cannot clearly see where to turn without staring at the scene, very dangerous. This makes it unusable and unsafe for freeway driving and it must be changed. Can I go back to the old version, or do I just start using my Tom Tom GPS and dump the phone.

View 5 Replies View RelatedThe "No Voice Guidance under Bluetooth" problem seems to be well documented on this board as well as elsewhere on the web,In-Car bluetooth connections that work fine for phonecalls will not relay voice directions from Maps, and the phone itself stays mute. In effect, no voice directions are heard at all.The reason seems clear as well: The bluetooth standard allows for several different kinds of sound-streams for priority purposes etc. Most In-Car bluetooth devices however (including several NOKIA-ones), accept only actual phonecalls. Hence, all oher sound is muted while connected to the car.The rather obvious solution would be to have a setup-item in Ovi-Maps that forces all sound from the program to use the phones integrated speakers instead of an operative Bluetooth connection. (Use Bluetooth connection for Voice directions On/Off).
NO NOKIA STAFF have responded to aknowledge the problem or comment on it's possible solution or workaround. (And I have not found any third party app that adresses the issue.)One might speculate that the reason would be the design of the operating system, choosing to handle all sound in a similar way, which undoubtedly is a good thing ... in most cases, but in this case dissalows usage of the free navigation in the one situation it is of the highest value - IN THE CAR.NOW - as FREE NAVIGATION becomes a major selling point and the aplication can't work in a modern car while maintaining legal phone connectivity, NOKIA needs to accept this reality, and make Ovi-maps useable for these users as well even if that means defying a design principle. For reference, I use version 3.03 10wk01 b05 of Ovi-maps on my NOKIA N97 mini with a factory fitted Alfa Romeo "Blue&Me" bluetooth kit, developed by Microsoft Automotive.
I have nokia E63. Ovi Maps is installed. Have map version v3.01 09wk44 b01MW map version 0.1.26.113.
I just bought bluetooth GPS receiver and have question. Can I use bluetooth GPS receiver with Ovi maps? How could I pair it and use with Ovi maps?
I have a 6720 with ovi maps installed. Is there is a bluetooth headset which supports GPS navigation? I would like to use it with my motorbike.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen my Lumia is connected to the car via bluetooth, its connected with both audio profiles, Voice (Phone Call Audio) and Music (A2DP).So when connected and Nokia Drive is running the audio is sent to A2DP to then be sent to the aux input of the car stereo. This is all well and good if you have the radio on and AUX selected. But if you are listening to FM radio or a CD etc you don't hear any voice guidance from Nokia Maps.
This is a question directed at Nokia Maps Developers. Can a setting be created that allows you to select audio output via bluetooth? If you could select it to go via the Voice/Phone call Profile, like for instance the Speech input works on Windows Phone, for reading/replying to text messages, then when ever there is a direction to be spoken, the car bluetooth would treat it as a phone call, cut sound to the radio and speak the direction through the speakers no matter what the radio was outputting. If the above doesn't make sense then please ask me as this would be a worth while setting to be developed.
Ovi Maps 3.04 seems to work well on my E72. At first I got spoken navigation instructions, both from the phone speaker and a connected Bluetooth device SuperTooth. Somehow these instructions disappeared and a symbol, a faint crossed-out loudspeaker, appeared in the top right hand side of the screen. So I probably inadvertently switched off the spoken instructions, but I cannot find how to switch them back on. The manual doesn't mention the possibility nor the symbol.

I assume this is what the Ovi maps are for however I am having a lot of difficulty getting it to work.
