Nokia :: N97 Not Mini / Deleting Wireless Access Point
Mar 7, 2010
Bascially, I need to know how to delete a wireless access point. My phone is obsessed with using a Wifi access point called Spectrum (I once used it to connect at some motorway services). It is the default access point and nothing I do will change it!I have tried reseting the phone, but makes no difference!Any ideas?
I have a wireless LAN access point on my phone that is draining my battery because it always seems to be trying to connect to it. I do not want this access point but because the phone thinks it is connected (it can't be because it was over 1 mile from my current location) it will not let me delete it. How can I delete this access point?
History: Always Nokia since 1994 including Nokia 2140, 7110e, 6150, 6210, 6310i, 6230i Current: Nokia N82 (with Access to a 5800XM)
Control Panel -> Settings -> Connection -> Destinations
When i thy to add new wireless or packet AP, "Settings" application hangs and i can't do nothing, even close Settings.
After reboot the same situation. Phone bought in Russia, in the Nokia shop, in november 2009. Software version: 022.007 Software version date: 10-dec-2009 Custom version: 022.007.c00.01 Language set: 20.01 Model: E72-1 Latest update: 14/1/2010
I've gone in to settings / general / service info and changed the access point to my wireless network. When I sync mail it still uses my 3g I've removed the mailbox and re setup but it still refuses to use the AP I specify.
When I choose free Wi-Fi to browse internet or download, X6 confirms the use of free service, but I still get charge from my phone carrier. It seems I can not change the 1st priority of connection. How I can able to choose which network to use?
I have defined my WLAN as the primary internet access point. Incidentally, the E72 terms the WLAN connection point "infrastructure". My wife's E63 uses the slightly more reassuring "known". Despite the WLAN being the number 1 priority access point, when using the www application the 3G connection is launched if the applications settings are set to "automatic". If I use "always ask", oddly the WLAN internet access point does not show up in the list. The 3G connection does twice. Once as an internet access point, and with a slightly different name for a WAP connection (not sure what the point of the WAP connection is, but too scared to delete it). I can "Search for WLAN" which without fail always finds my home network, which is selectable, and can be used without problem.
There appears to be a glitch in that the defined WLAN access point is not and cannot be recognised as an automatic connection point, but is easily used when manually selected. Perhaps a WLAN setting is wrong making the automatic connection fall over? Happy to entertain any advice. The phone is completely up to date with firmware.
I've recently purchased an X6, it's a great phone. The only problem I'm having is sorting out the connection settings for my emails (under the Messaging menu). I don't seem to be able to select an access point. My default connection is my home WLAN In my Internet access point the priorities are:
1. Home WLAN 2. 3G 3. GPRS
This works perfectly for all other apps and the internet; but under Options > Settings > Email > Mailboxes > *select mailbox* > Connection settings > Incoming e-mail > Access Point in use. I can only select specific connections, there doesn't appear to be any option to select my Internet access point? It's currently set to "Default Connection" which means it uses my WLAN nicely. But when I leave the house it doesn't work without manually navigating through all those options above which is pretty inconvenient. Am I missing something, or do I really need to do that each time I leave the house and return?
I have WhatsApp V2.8.8 installed. What happens is that, sometimes it connects using mms access point and the phone becomes very slow.I need to disconnect the mms connection to avoid slowdown!!This happened with all WhatsApp versions. How to delete mms access point?
I have been using Inernet Radio happily on my e63 for some time on the vodafone network in Australia and frequently listened over GPRS.I recently signed up to Telstra and the first time I started Internet Radio after inserting my new SIM I received a "terms and conditions" notice - as if this was the first time I was using it.
Now, only my WIFI access points and Telstra MMS are showing up in the available access points for internet radio - I can't see the Telstra Internet access point so I'm no longer able to to listen to Internet Radio over GPRS!!
I've setup my wlan access in Internet destination. In this destination I set up wlan as priority 1 and mobile data as priority 2.Phone keeps moving wlan from Internet to Uncategorised destination. If I move it back to Internet it stays for some time and goes back to Uncategorised. Sometimes it happens while browsing. I want to go back one page and phone will show that it can't find the address. Have to go to settings and move it back to Internet destination. Ad nauseam. Did not have this problem on N8. My phone has static IP address on my home modem.
I changed the outgoing default connection in E55 here: menu. email. settings. mymailbox. mailbox settings. advanced mailb settings.outgoing mail settings. access point in use. user defined
now when i do a email message it doesnt send when i choose send in any new email message. it seems a bug, because it does not quit of the send option, it appears a little window sending email, but it does not send. then if i try to get out the only options are delete/save to drafts.
I've installed Nokia Messaging and configured my e-mail account. Even though I think I set it up properly it just will not disconnect from my WiFi access point - even when the application is turned off and I manually close the internet connection it just keeps on reconnecting. I need an application I can use to check my email once or twice a week, not something that drains the hell out of my (already **bleep**) battery. Is there anything I can do, or should I replace Nokia Messaging with something else?
I have to use two access points. One for Nokia Messaging and the second one for other apps. Although it's cumbersome I'm managing, but the native web browser always chooses the wrong access point without giving me any option to choose the other. How can I make it choose the other access point?
I just got the 5230 and am having trouble connecting to the net . i have had the settings from o2 uk sent to me but every time i try to connect to ovi, web browser, and to set up email , it says invalid packet data access point . now i have no idea what that means , but its annoying.can someone give me some help please.
Does the 5230 have the functions to access my wireless router? It would be nice to be able to access the web and such when home to download stuff at high speed over my cable internet.
I have an E63 with version 400.21.013 firmware. However, I have experienced this problem from day one. I do not have a data plan but I use WLAN at various locations, and there is a list of access points in the Settings.I have a home access point configured with WPA2 and I have all the settings saved in the Connection Manager (or is it WLAN Wizard - I don't know). When the phone is not connected to any AP and I use a program that wants data, it will almost always show the "Home" AP in the list which appears right after "Searching for available access points" is briefly displayed. "Home" shows up right below Search for WLAN. There is no problem making the first connection. However, if the "Home" AP is already in use and I open another program that wants data, at times it will not show my Home AP in the list. If "Searching for available access points" is only displayed for a split second, "Home" will not be in the list. Sometimes I can close the program and open it again and if "Searching for available access points" stays on screen for about a second, then "Home" will be on the list and I can connect. Sometimes I will have to try 3, 4, 5 times, and sometimes it will never "see" the AP unless I disconnect the WLAN and start all over.Right at this moment, there is no problem. I can open program after program and connect via my "Home" AP. But it is frustrating when it does happen. Has anyone seen this or found a remedy?
I'm having problems tracing 2 of my mystery access points on my N95.I've deleted all the network assigned access points Tools > Settings > Connection > Access Points. But when I try to connect using the built-in web browser, there are still 2 Access Points showing. How can I delete these two? The list of access points are already empty, I even deleted the WLAN connections.
I am in the US. I just got an unlocked Nokia E72.I don't have data plan.I am wondering whether I can access internet through the university wireless, like my laptop? If I can, could anyone tell me how to set the wireless connection?
I bought a friend's 6 month old N97 (when he bought his iphone) and I seem to be having problems already. I can't access my gmail even when I'm in a wireless zone. It seems to be frozen. I don't have up to date mail and the mail from the past week are still there even though it's been deleted from the computer. Any suggestions?
I have set up a WLAN access point on the phone to access the internet and email via my wireless modem/router.Problem is, once I make one internet connection, it doesn't allow me to make another or to connect to email, even after the first connection was closed.
If I delete the WLAN access point, I can access the internet and email no problem but I need to select the WLAN and enter the key first.Seems like a problem with my WLAN access point settings.
I just cant get the internet to work and its getting really annoying...
i have tried the standard settings, mobile networks, access points names, but when I tap on access points names I just a get a blue screen. There is no option to add a new one.
I just recently upgraded to Android version 5.1.1.It appears, although I am not sure that that is the reason, that I can't get mobile data anymore. WiFi works just fine.If I go to APN settings I get above message - Access point name settings are not available for this user.
How in the world do i change the access point names? i just switched from a straight talk phone to my iphone 3 and they told me to change the apn settings but i cant seem to figure out how?
i updated my neo L with android 4.0.4 after this update... my cell is not displaying apn's setting.. when i click access point name then this blank page comes..
