I just bought the New Moto Photon and the 3G is pretty fast. Is there an App I can use to connect my Photon to my Xoom and use the 3G on my Photon (to connect to Internet or Marketplace while out and about). I tried Easy Tether Lite, but that's for PC's.
The XOOM 3G manual says that ts possible to use USB tethering for sharing your XOOM's 3G connection with the laptop. However, the XOOM doesn't have the option described in the manual! I'm running 3.2 on a non-US 3G XOOM.Well, you might wonder why I need USB tethering. So far, I've found that USB tethering provides better bandwidth than WIFI tethering.
I am experiencing my internet just going out when i'm using it. would like to know if anyone else is experiencing the same problem and if so what is the fix,
I'm a fresh owner of xoom tablet. I'm very happy with the product however, I seem to be unable make internet connection using my Vodaphone Australia mobile broadband SIM card. When the card is inserted and no Wi-Fi avaiable tha table seems to be connected to Vodafone 3G ( right bottom corner ) however I'm unable to browse internet nor can I do any other activities requiring internet access. The message I see says:
No Network connection
At this point I do not know whether there is something wrong with my xoom tablet setting or I shold take this issue with Vodafone Australia. I'm using same SIM card on my laptom and it all works.
I have a Motorola Xoom and I have just upgraded to ICS 4.0.4, prior to this I didn't have any problems accessing my wireless router...Netgear WGR614V6....but since the upgrade I've tried everything and I can't get Internet access. I go to settings and click on "Wireless" (You can see that it sees it amongst the list of Routers) and it shows that it is protected by the encryption "PSA-PSK". I put in the password and it goes through the motions but it doesn't connect. It shows that it is looking for an IP address but then it doesn't pass the authentication. I have even tried "WEP" but to no avail. Has anyone had this problem..is there a fix or do I have to go back to "HoneyComb".
with a lack of Internet connection on their 4G LTE XOOM. I purchased my XOOM in October and except for one time right after I got it, I've always been connected to a wifi someplace. Last week I found myself at probably one of the few McDonald's that had no wifi. I didn't think that was an issue but it turned out to be. I spoke with the people at Motorola who couldn't diagnosis my problem so I'm supposed to send the unit back to them. In the interim I thought (and spoke to Motorola about this as well) that as a means of troubleshooting I would take it to Verizon to see if perhaps I had a bad sim card. The manager was a complete idiot (I'm being VERY nice here) and told me that sim cards do not go bad! At issue is that when the unit goes back to Motorola it goes back devoid of anything including my sim card. I called Verizon directly and the feeling I got from them was that they really wanted to resolve my problem and probably not send my unit back to Motorola. The tech was very nice but she couldn't get any internet working on my XOOM either. She is sending me a new sim card which should be here tomorrow. Let's hope it's as easy a fix as that. I do have the 3.2.6 upgrade on my unit and except for it sometimes freezing at boot up the past week or so I haven't had any other issues with it.
I have a dsl motorola modem connected to a lyksys wrt54g v5 2.4 Ghz. I have been connecting fine and staying connected accept every once in a while would have to reboot modem & wireless router then would work fine but ever since the 3.1 update I haven't been able to connect to the internet. The xoom is able to locate & connect with wireless router but cannot get to the internet. Nothing in in my LAN has changed. I also have a pc wireless card (lyksys) for my desktop that gets on without a problem and an Xbox 360 that also can get online. I have unplugged my modem & router several times & plugged them back iin the same order and can still get online w/ PC & Xbox but not Xoom. I have also went to the Xoom & hit forget my settings for my wireless & set it back up with no luck
I found out by accident that I could connect my Xoom to my Droid x2 by Bluetooth and get my wifi only Xoom on the I internet. The only problem is that it is not consistent. Drops connections then hard to reconnect. Have to power down to get it reconneced.
Is it possible to share computer internet connection with the Xoom using bluetooth or USB cable? I read about sharing the Xoom internet to the pc, but is it possible to do it the other way?
When I get emails that have links attached to them and select the link, the tablet just darkens (like when you highlight something) and it won't open the browser to go to the page.
I have a wifi only xoom and during use roughly about once an hour or sometimes more frequent) the xoom stops acivity. Web searching/browsing just comes to a halt and eventually there is a message saying that there is no internet connectivity.owever the icon at the bottom right of the screen shows an excellent signal. am wondering if the problem is the internet service provider or wifi router or if the problem is with the xoom. Is this usual or is something wrong here?
We have a new xoom. Last night it connected fine to our network and the internet.Today at the office it is connected to the network, shows an ip address but when I try get on the internet, it just thinks forever and then times out
My XOOM returned from 4G upgrade refusing to search for WiFi once it has been allowed to connect 4G. I have experimented with many ways to improve this including changing from CDMA/LTE to CDMA only (just to test 3G connections), disabling the 'data enabled' setting, disabling WiFi too, then turning on WiFi both before and after blanking the screen, and trying all 3 options of when to change from 4G to WiFi (after screen blank, etc.). The only fix is a complete shutdown and cold boot for it to wake up and search for WiFi. The WiFi in question are the same I used before the 4G upgrade and nothing has changed but the XOOM hardware and presumably software. If it is restricted to WiFi only and I move from home to office to a public WiFi, it will happily switch back and forth UNTIL I coax it into a 4G connection. Then, it takes a cold reboot.
So on the 4.0 OS, it comes with internet sharing but when he attempts to turn it on, it says to contact at.has there been any hack to bypass that "contact" at so that he can tether it.
Apparently I'm the stupidest person with this phone. According to every website I've found you just START> Internet sharing> USB + Data> Connect and your online.I do this and it tells me "check USB connection" the USB is active, the phone is charging, but my PC says its an "unknown device".I spent hours searching for the intrepid's USB driver to no avail. (tried the "update driver wizard" in XP and it couldnt find drivers either.
I just got the Tango update. However, still no Internet sharing.
My Phone is a Lumia 800. My provider here in Austria is A1. However, I should emphasize that the phone is not carrier branded and that my HTC Trophy that is indeed simlocked to A1 did get Internet sharing back when Mango became available.
I'm trying to find the best option for mobile internet access for my Xoom.I've ordered the D-Link DAP350 to be able to get wifi from wired internet, but am looking for a router that will accept an onlocked 3.5G modem. So, I looked at the CNet CQR-981 that will accept a USB modem (which the DAP350 apparently does not)The problem as I see it is that they all need some form of setting up/driver, and those will not be available for Andriod-or am I missing something? BTW, I've tried tethering my Xoom to my Nokia N8 both with wifi and BT.
I wonder if it's possible to share the existing internet connection on Nokia 5800 XM with the PC without internet connection? The setup is like this:
1. I have DSL Wi-Fi router in home
2. I have one computer which connects to DSL router using the USB Wi-Fi card - that's my primary internet computer
3. I use Nokia 5800 for wi-fi connection to router too
4. I have another PC which is audio DAW (digial audio workstation) and I don't want to dirt that one with any antivirus, antimalware software or any plug-ins required for using the internet.
Now, since there is a certain need to connect to internet with that DAW (mostly to utilize the web camera and make video calls without disturbing the rest of the family, since DAW is in the studio, a separate room), I wonder is it possible to use my Nokia 5800 in a way where I would just share it's internet connection with the DAW, so DAW would connect to internet with Nokia's connection? It isn't the same thing as using the smartphone as modem, it's an actual connection sharing, but I fail to find needed settings for such sharing on Nokia.I also wonder will the PC be at any risk at all since it would use internet connection of Symbian based system (the PC runs with WinXPSP2).
I just picked up the new Lumia 920 from the Microsoft store in Canada. The phone was locked to Rogers and I was required to unlock in order to use it with Telus. I entered all the required APN settings to use Telus data but I still cannot get Internet Sharing to work. I'm having the same issue with MMS as well.
How can I get these features to work? This is a game changer and it's making regret switching to Windows Phone...
Truthfully I dont know if it's Nokia to blame or Rogers or Microsoft but this Internet Sharing and MMS issue has created a really poor Windows Phone experinece for me. Someone really needs to step up to the plate and address this.
I am having Nokia Lumia 710 with Vodafone(India) 2G activated. I have updated my phone to latest firmware and OS and got hte Internet sharing option in my settings tab, But even then I am unable to share internet.
Others are able to connect to my network if I share but when they try to browse internet, none of the internet pages are opening. Then I have tried to share my internet to my laptop(Windows 7 OS). I was able to connect but I was unable to surf anything.
I turn on Internet sharing on the phone. I connect my MacBook Pro mid 2012 to the phone by WiFi. Now you normally have an Internet connection on your laptop through your phone.
In my case the WiFi connection from my laptop to the Lumia keeps disconnecting after just some tens of seconds. This has happened on 2 different Lumia 920 phones used on 2 different MacBook Pros and an iPad.
This is NOT carrier related. I have already gone through this with my carrier (Elisa).
I have read in a lot of places that Blackerrys contain internet sharing. My question is that does it have to be a data connection or can you do it with WiFi? Like I have a computer that too far away and doesn't have an adapter and also try to connect it to my Xbox?
I just got the Lumia Icon and I've observed a problem with the Internet Sharing that is preventing me from using VPN. What seems to be occurring is that the outside IP address for the Verizon service changes very frequently, and happens as soon as the VPN software creates an isakmp sa, but cannot create an ipsec sa because the VPN end point sees the same sa, but the peer (IP) does not match, so the SA association fails and is removed. It's almost as though something on the phone is being reset when it sees that type of traffic.
I have a Lumia 900, and right now I'm stuck with the no-data bug. I'm in Canada, and we don't have the update yet.
I've never been able to get the Internet Sharing to work. I don't know if this is related to the same data bug. I've read where other people have had the same problem. So to be clear, is there anyone that has the updated software and the data bug fixed, but isn't able to use the Internet Sharing?
When i try to use Internet Sharing, it says 'Connections not shared - There's no mobile data connection to share at the moment. Check Your mobile setttings and signal, and try again.' In my mobile, mobile internet is working in all the browsers and i was able to install all the apps using mobile internet. but still it throws an error mentioned above, when i try to use Internet Sharing.
