Motorola Razr :: Bluetooth Voice Sounds Deep And Slurred
Jan 31, 2012
Sounds bizarre but when I connect my phone to any bluetooth device the voice sounds like something out of a spy film. It's all slowed down and deep. Spent ages on technical line last night to no avail. Next step is a system reset which I am trying to avoid...
if I dial a contact via the Razr's voice command using my Bluetooth headset, the call connects, but neither party can hear audio. If I dial by selecting the contact manually, using the same Bluetooth headset, the call connects normally and audio is fine. The headset is a Jabra 250 and I don't have easy access to another Bluetooth device at the moment. Can't tell if this is a sw or hw issue on the Razr or the headset (which is an older model but still works just fine with original Droid Razr).
I'm with a 5.0.2 D6603. The issue I have is that the following Kernel wakelocks does not allow the phone to deep sleep.
msm_serial_hs_dma BTLowPower
I've just performed a sw repair via pc companion, and several factory reset. I'm running the Z3 with no apps.
It happens both with an LG G Watch R (5.0.2) and a regular BT Plantronics (voice only) headset. Using the same BT devices with a Nexus 4, Nexus 10 and an LG G2 does not have the same effect. As soon as there is no usage the phone goes to sleep immediately.
If we take the second device, I do expect a Kernel wakelock while speaking or streaming music. The phone is active any way while performing this task. What is strange is that even if there is no activity the wakelocks avoid deep sleep.
What is strange is that if I move away from the headset (and the BT icon goes the "non connected" status), the wakelocks are always there. The effect is that my phone (both on 4.4.4 and 5.0.2) almost never ever sleeps, and sometimes get warm. It is evident that the battery life affected a lot. If I switch BT off, everything goes back to normal.
I did a further test, in the below sequence:
- BT ON + connected to a Plantronics headset => wakelock + device always on - BT ON + disconnected to a Plantronics headset => wakelock + device always on - BT OFF + disconnected to a Plantronics headset => no wakelock + device sleep - BT ON + disconnected to a Plantronics headset => wakelock + device always on
When I am activly chatting with someone, each message recieved is playing the alert sound, and displaying in the notification bar. This didn't happen on my DX. On the DX, all sounds and alerts were muted for an app while I was activly using it. I don't want chat alerts WHILE I am chatting.
I went to a seminar yesterday and turned the sound off on the phone using the volume keys. The icon showed the speaker with the slash over it. But then I accidentally hit the voice commands button and the phone started talking. Is there any way to make the phone be totally silent-so that if I went to a web page or hit the voice commands or anything else that makes noise it would still not make any sound?
When I had my Incredible I was able to set a different notification sound for each Gmail account (2), Facebook, voice-mail, texting, etc. When I do this on my Maxx with ICS whatever the last one is that I set up automatically becomes the :default sound" and all the apps use that sound...it overrides the sound that I set in each individual app. How can I get what I want done?
You know how pushing the power button silences the ringer when someone calls and you don't even have to pull your phone out. It would be nice if you could do that with the notifications also, like text and email etc. Cause sometimes I can't just get my phone out cause I'm doing something or have my hands full and so on. It should be like that with all of the sound where you can just hit the power button to silence the ringer on everything.
I have 3 different LG Tone Bluetooth headsets (700, 730 and I believe the 750) plus a Motorola Roadster part 2 other brands that fit in ear. My wife and I swap them out as our needs fit. For exercise the LG Tone works great or if I want stereo d sound.
Anytime I am on Bluetooth the person on the other end can hear me fine but I can't hear them well. Their voices sound garbled and OT sounds like a fax machine noise in the background. I gave checked with LG, Motorola and Verizon...
I've got a Razr Maxx and over the past 3 days, my phone has been sounding the Highwire ringtone for some unknown reason randomly and sometime 5 or 6 times in a row. There's no message corresponding, no notifications. Just random alert sounds and i don't have Highwire set to any apps or alerts.I don't really want to remove the 10 apps or so i've installed in the past few days, i'd rather get down to the source of the problem
I just got this phone yesterday (6/19) and there is one thing that I cannot figure out. When in sound setting there are check marks next to audible touch tones when using dial pad, audible selection when making screen selections, and screen lock sounds, but I don't get any sounds. Sounds work great for everything else. Volume is up.
I have only had this phone about 2 months, at first it had a standard ringtone when an incoming call was happening. However recently the phone began Voice Talking the name of the contact, or anouncing the phone number. I've attempted to get one of the ringtones to work, but nothing I've done so far is changing the setting from "Voice to Ringtone".
Whenever I try to use voice input for navigation I receive the message "unfortunatelky maps has stopped. This only started after the Jelly Bean update. I have done an FDR and cache wipe. I have disabled and reenabled maps. Nothing helps. After several days with Jelly Bean I am becoming more and more convinced that ICS was a better OS. I am tired of every time we get an update that something breaks or is removed and yet more and more bloat is forced upon us.
I saw some questions on other sites asking if Droid RAZR M supported voice calls and data simultaniously on LTE. (iPhone 5 does not.) The answer is yes -- you can make a call while surfing the 'Net on LTE, or on Wi-Fi, for that matter.
I was just wondering how can I get the Voice to text Mic on the keyboard to input words or type with out touching the screen, so far I can only use the feature via pressing the search Icon on the bottom right of the phone.
When using the dock, lets just say for sat nav, when i get a text message through it comes up on screen saying "Say Listen to hear the message". When i say "listen" nothing happens, its the same for everything, any time the dock pops up a message saying "say this to answer or listen or whatever" nothing happens.
get weird pop sounds when they are video chatting someone? I have had to Tango my girlfriend who lives in NC and everytime I video-chat her I get weird noises that sound like a crackling or a pop. I have also heard them when I have tango-ed other people.
If I set an alarm using voice commands, the alarm shows up in the list of alarms, but it does nothing when the alarm should go off. To try yourself, use voice commands and say "Set alarm for 5:25 PM" or "Set timer for three minutes." It will show a created alarm, you can see it in your list of alarms, but nothing happens when the alarm should go off.
I can get my calendar to open with a voice command. But is there a way (or an app) to actually get it to make an appointment (such as: Meet John on Decemebver 29th at 10am) with just voice commands.
I notice that my motoactv just eats battery when im not using it. My workaround is to power it off so i dont have to constantly have it charging and so its ready when i need it. Is there a setting coming or present that will allow the motoactv to enter deep sleep mode after x amount of inactivity and then to only be awakened by button presses?
My voice search doesn't work when I am on wifi data. It keeps thinking over and over and comes back with no results. But when I switch to mobile data network it works fine and returns the results right away. I can not even use speech to text feature while on wifi it, it does the same thing as voice search on wifi. I am not able to find out what the problem is. The formatting was incorrectly checked causing all caps. Just changed the formatting to correct that.
My Droid Raxr HD Maxx has developed a very bad habit. Whenever I initiate a voice call, the microphone fails. The failure is exactly at the point of connection, which is to say that I can use the mic for voice dialing. Toggling the speaker button or adjusting the volume (which is set at high) remedies the problem, toggling the mute button does not. This occurs on outgoing calls only; incoming calls are normal.
I'm using a RAZR MAXX HD with the Motorola vehicle dock. I've enabled the Smart Actions for turning on Vehicle Mode when I drop it in the dock, and I like this for the most part. When I get a text message, a popup notifies me that I've received one, and prompts me to "Say listen to hear this message." However, I've only been able to get the damn thing to recognize me saying "listen" once, out of several dozen times this has happened. I don't have an accent (I'm from California) and have a fairly loud voice. Any tricks to getting this to work? I've tried louder, quieter, faster, slower, weird pronunciations, cursing at it... no luck!
I'm pretty certain it's actually picking up me saying "listen" because I see a little popup bubble on the screen saying something like "Waiting for speech" then after I speak it will show "listen listen listen".
For what it's worth, voice input seems to work just fine in any native Google app (search, navigation). It's just the (Moto?) Vehicle Mode ones that hardly ever work.
My wife and I bought a pair of RAZR M phones three days ago, and right from the beginning, soung quality was pretty poor. It doesn't seem to be a problem calling voicemail, I can hear the machine just fine, but on all voice calls, I sound very muffled, and have a hard time hearing the other person. I tried holding the phone in every conceivable way which made little difference. This is especially bad when my wife and I call each other. I went to the Verizon store (not where I bought it), and they denied there was any problem and sent me away. I am running Android Jellybean (4.1.1). On my old Sprint phone, this was never an issue, but background noise was horrible. With the RAZR M, there is no background noise, but no clarity either.
I just updated my Razr HD to Jelly Bean and have been playing around more with Voice Search and Google Now.
I was wondering if there's any way to access search from the lock screen - the Jelly Bean FAQs mention that it's possible to access voice search by "swiping up on the lock screen", but that doesn't seem to work. Is it just not possible with the Razr HDs software, or am I missing something very obvious?
I would like to know if I can use voice commands to dial a call and then dial into an extension or conference number. I often take conference calls while I am driving and being able to get into the conference room without manually dialing would be great.
First, the only one that I'm allowed to choose to map to the double click home key is Voice Commands. If that isn't annoying enough, I also can not figure out how to access Voice Search at all, and Google Now requires actually interacting with the device to launch (I'm going for a handsfree/bluetooth solution here).
Second, Voice Commands is missing functionality. It has a "goto" feature, but it never works. It says I have to set up the shortcuts in the settings. However when I go into settings there is nothing there for setting up the shortcuts. Sometimes if I hit it just right I can tap the GoTo button and it takes me to a list of functions and I am able to select it, and it works for a little while, but inevitably when I go back to use it again the GoTo function is once again dead. I know this because instead of opening navigation or maps or Google Now (as I had set up before) it constantly prompts me to call someone or cancel, or some other function that is NOT GoTo. At least if I could change the default behavior of what launches I could work around this frustration by using Google Now or even a 3rd party application, but my menu has predefined choices and none of them are Google Now or 3rd party.
