So i have an unlocked CLIQ XT, I can make phone calls with my rogers SIM card but i cannot connect to data. SO when i launch the internet it says no network available. Any help?
View 2 RepliesI have a Motorola Cliq updated to 2.1.5 through T-mobile.Up until this weekend, I had no problem getting Data pushed through whether I was in my area or my boyfriends area (his is non 3G and he does NOT have WiFi) ...I was at his place this weekend, and my Data ONLY pushed through when I was in a WiFi area and I had WiFi enabled.he problem is, now that I'm home IN A 3G AREA my Data STILL only pushes through when WiFi is enabled. I get NO INTERNET CONNECTION at all.I can't even get my phone to be recognized through the Motorola Troubleshooter now when it IS plugged into my laptop via USB ....Hoping to avoid a reset, even though I have everything synched through my Blur acct and Gmail

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have installed the Bell 5.0 OS on my Rogers bold. Everything went pretty well for a week, and I loved this new OS. But this morning, my BB data stopped to work (email, browser etc.) and on the network status screen, it said that it was not connected to BIS. I connected to my Wifi network, and the BIS connection was back (using wifi). I closed Wifi, called Rogers, they sent a new config to my BB, and everything worked for a minute. Then it then stopped again. Suspecting that my OS was a bit messy, I wiped my device and installed 5.0 from scratch. Still no connection to BIS. So I wiped again and installed the latest Official OS from Rogers. Everything was fine. I then upgraded to 5.0 and lost connectivity to BIS again Any idea on what is going on? Anyone is having trouble have their BB connect to BIS?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI live in Canada and have a data plan with Rogers. Up to a few days ago I had a Samsung Jack and internet on it was just fine. I received HTC Touch Pro 2 with WM 6.1 on it. I have problems connecting it to the internet, and Rogers sent me a link to some 3rd party site which is no loger up and running. I can't copy the settings from Jack, as for whatever reason it just doesnt let me open & see the settings. If I go to settings-> connections --> communicationm manager -- data connection, I see that it is set to 'turned off'. If I flick it to 'on', it displays a short message saying 'the phone is inspecting the configuration' and then quickly reverts to CONNECTIONS window, which allows me to :
- add a new connection
- add a new VPN server connection
- edit my proxy server
- manage existing connection
As for existing proxy server, I created a new one called ROGERS and have entered the following settings in the advanced tab for WAP settings
SERVER: internet.com Port: 9201 (this port came as default)
user name: wapuser1
password: wap
Domain: 208.200.067.150
I found these settings somewhere, cant recall where.

I just got this phone from someone who upgraded up. If I only want to use it for calls and texting and nothing else, should I update from its current system version 1.6 / Firmware version 1.5?If I wanted to do this manually, are system and firmware updates done separately and where are the download pages to do it manually?There are threads talking about how updates slowed down CLIQ MB200 phones. Do they slow down the basic functions of this phone? I see there are Android platform versions all the way up to 3.2. Is version 2.1 the last version compatible with MB200?Some threads compare updating this phone to installing Windows 7 or Vista on older computers - they would slow down basic functions on them so it's really not worth it to update. Is that comparison true when it comes to this first Android phone?

From all the info that I've read, the latest version is 1.1.30. I've tried doing a system update from the phone, but it tells me that I am up to date.

I am not sure if this is the route I would had gone but it's not like he can take it back now. Luckily it is a Cliq with a T-Mobile emblem on it, which is my carrier, so there shouldnt be any problems. And it appears to be in excellent condition.OK, time to transfer the SIM card.First, we cannot get the newly purchased Cliq to recgognize my SIM card. It is an old T-Mo SIM card that has been transferred from A Samsung T-719 purchased in 2007 to a BB Pearl to a BB Curve and then to the Cliq2 bought in 2011. I do have newer SIM cards that have never been opened or activated, so that could be an option. But the SIM works fine in my Cliq2. But in the newly purchased Cliq we immediately get the "Please insert SIM card" message on the screen.Yes, we did do a factory reset and then re-tested the SIM.Wi-Fi works.We were curious if the SIM Card can't be read until we go through the Motoblur registration.Also, can the Motoblur info just be transferred from the Cliq2 to the SIM Card or SD Card so I don't have to login on the newly purchased Cliq?I forgot my Motoblur password and it is registered with an inactive email address, so a password recovery via email is not an option. Should I just open a new Motoblur account? Will it let me connect the same emails and social media accounts as the old Motoblur account?
View 5 Replies View RelatedAT&T and iPhone data use charges - WiFi and cellular link options Many people have complained about unusual data usage charges on their AT&T iPhone bills -- often 10s of megabytes in one transaction, posted in the middle of the night. Here are a couple of updates based on the AT&T support portal: WiFi vs cellular link: Connecting to a local WiFi hotspot and turning off your cellular data connection will block cellular data transmission and related charges. (Except for SMS messages, which are very small.) There are some gotchas, however: (a) If your iPhone goes 'to sleep' (the screen goes black), it will revert to the cellular data link, unless it is plugged into a charger. (b) Even if your iPhone is plugged into a charger, it will revert to a cellular data connection if the WiFi link drops, e.g. due to a momentary glitch with your internet provider or electric power supply, so.... (c) The only way to completely ensure that your iPhone will not revert to a cellular data connection is to turn it completely off. You (obviously) will not be able to receive calls, however.
Large data transactions in the middle of the night: Unusually large 'chunks' of data that are apparently sent around midnight are a related issue. You may think that you could avoid these mystery charges by making sure you have a WiFi connection running at night. A number of 'czars' on AT&T's site stated, however, that this is are simply an artifact of AT&T's billing system, which "aggregates" transactions that occur throughout the day into one summary charge, which is posted in the middle of the night. If this is accurate, the data connection(s) you use throughout the day will determine how large this 'summary' transaction will be.
Note: Our bill does not appear to square with AT&T's explanation. For example:

I bought an iPhone 3GS off a guy on craigslist and it works great, no complaints. But every few minutes or so I get the alert saying that I "Cannot activate cellular data network - You are not subscribed to a cellular data service", and it's really annoying because it lights up my iPhone all the time and kills my battery. It's also really annoying - it comes up whenever I'm typing a message or playing a game; literally when I do ANYTHING on my phone. I do not have a data plan, but I have used 'unlockit.co.nz' to install a Fake APN to my iPhone to block data. Rogers has also given me a data block. This has been going on ever since I bought the phone, I thought installing a Fake APN would stop it but I guess not. I can't really restore since I have a lot of stuff on this iPhone already.. but if that's the only option then I will be forced to. I used to have an unlocked Fido 3G (about 2 months ago) without data and it never gave me this alert, do you think it has something to do with my 3GS being locked to Rogers?
This phone is a jailbroken iPhone 3GS (model MC143C) running version 3.1.3 (7E18) and locked to the "Rogers 5.0" network. If it helps the modem firmware is 05.12.01.if there are no real solutions, I still have 2 months left on my warranty. Would Apple fix it or give me a new one if I un-jailbreak it?

I have had the Desire (unlocked on Rogers for about 2 weeks and it has worked well in Toronto. I seem to get data from from HSPA, 3G and Edge (get Hs, 3Gs and Es on the notification bar). I arrived yesterday in Thunder Bay and cannot get any data there. I have called Rogers and they have reset the data or whatever they do but no change. I have checked all my APN settings, ensured that I have checked to use mobile connections and done a hard reset of the phone. Nothing works. I not that I have a choice of WCDMA, GSM or auto WCDMA or GSM. I cannot set this on WCDMA without it reverting to the auto position. I suspect that Thunder Bay may have no 3G service and my phone is not dropping to 2G although my experience in Toronto suggests otherwise.
I flew to Kenora tonight and we stopped briefly in Fort Frances where I was able to connect to the Dryden Municpal Telephone System GSM network. The E lit up and it appeared that data was being sent but it didn't get through. This seemed to eliminate the possibility that the radio is simply dead. Incidentally, bluetooth and wifi are working fine as is the voice radio. I have seen it suggested on redflagdeals.com that I need to have the phone rooted to get access to 2G as this was blocked by Telus. I would appreciate anyone's input on this issue. I will be spending 3 or 4 months in Thunder Bay over the next while and need data access. If rooting the phone will do the trick, then I will need to get someone to do it for me as I am a little reluctant to try that myself.
today I picked up a rough looking Bold 9000 and swapped in my spare parts onto it. The catch is, it was a Bell phone. I already unlocked it and it states it is on rogers network now. I don't want the Bell logo/wallpapers to load upon startup, so I though by installing FW Version 5.0.1626 from the blackberry Rogers download page it would fix it.The software update just finished(about 10-15 min) and I see a bell background and bell startup logo. Should the Rogers FW change this over? or are the bell wallpapers/startup logo's programmed into the phone itself and NOT the FW?I don't want to remove the Logo completely, I just rather have it say ROGERS like my old BB and have all the rogers software/configuration.

I recently unlocked a Rogers Bold 9700 and began using it with my Fido sim card. I added a small data plan to my current services from Fido but I am not receiving any data. I have called Fido 3 times and they can't seem to do anything. They gave me their APN settings and I have input them manually and still no data.

Thing is, with cellular data off, I can't do certain things (ex. Receive picture messages via the Messages app) unless I turn on cellular data. So as long as wifi is available, will my phone still use up cellular data even though it can get data off the wifi? Thanks.

My partner is in the US for the week. She has turned off Cellular Data in Settings → General → Network to avoid exorbitant data costs yet when I reply to her SMS messages my messages are sent as iMessages, which she can't now receive. She's also turned off iMessage in Settings → Messages but so far my messages still default to iMessages instead of SMS. She's having this problem with other people as well, no doubt because their iPhones keep trying to send her iMesssages.
I know that I can turn of iMessage on my phone and that lets me successfully send her SMSs but I wonder if there's something she can do at her end to make SMS the default for everyone who is trying to reply to her. I've also tried Settings → General → Reset Network Settings but it hasn't solved the problem.
