View 1 RepliesI'm having some weird issues with the WIFI connections when my phone is on airplane mode. I can't connect to both of my home WIFI - 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Both of the SSIDs are not being displayed at all, until I turned off airplane mode. However, both my Nexus 7 (2013) and HTC One are working fine with their airplane modes. Is this some crazy limitations of Windows Phone again?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI went into Airplane Mode today using the widget. It turned off my Wifi (but not GPS?) and went into Airplane Mode just fine. Then when using the widget to turn Airplane Mode off I see my Wifi turn back on, but the Airplane Mode isn't removed. The only way I can find to actually take the phone out of Airplane mode is to hold the power button and toggle it from the silent/airplane/power popup.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIve always had my wifi on that way when i enter a saved network or att hotspot it switches to wifi and i save on data useage. Well, sometime after the gingerbread update my wifi stopped working correctly. It would be on and show the wifi symbol but when two saved network locations, it would "connect" to the network but no data was being sent or recieved. I even tried it on an att hotspot and no luck. The wifi turns on fine and says it is connected but it hasno signal as indicated by the grayed out wifi signal bar. Now i read something that said to put the phone in airplane mode and thenturn wifi on and it should work fine, well i did that and it works as long as i stay in airplane mode. I dont see this as a fix but instead as only more evidence to an apparent problem. What good is wifi on a phone if i can only use it when the phone can no longer work as a phone.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI know you are being pounded with questions about the update. So I will pile on and ask another! I have a Verizon branded 3G Xoom purchased from Motorola on the first day available. I have not activated the Verizon service and use the Xoom on Wi-fi only. My question is I have the airplane mode on with just the wi-fi radio on. Does this affect the update? The unit will more than likely look like a wi-fi only device to the update servers?
View 8 Replies View RelatedPhone boots into airplane mode and when you try to disable airplane mode the signal icon goes nuts and quickly flips back and forth between no signal and signal.
The problem is the USB/Microphone daughterboard that is connected to the mainboard by a ribbon cable and two antenna cables. The fault lies in this board and replacing it will fix the symptoms.
I cannot send or receive texts at home because there is insufficient service at my house so I use iMessage over wifi. The issue is that when I am on wifi and out of service the phone will not send iMessages or texts over wifi unless the phone is in Airplane mode. Does anyone know how to make wifi the default iMessage so that I can send iMessages over wifi without going to Airplane mode? It tries to send them but it acts as if there is no service when I have full wifi and as soon as I switch to Airplane mode and keep wifi connected, all messages send fine.

I cracked my screen on my original 1520. AT&T sent a replacement device (via Insurance). As soon as I got the phone, I installed Preview for Developers and checked for phone update. After updating and restarting, the phone is stuck on airplane mode. When you go into settings and try to tap the button to switch to off it doesn't do anything, however, when I swipe it to the left the toggle moves but once you let go it goes right back to the right. You can toggle the airplain mode on/off in the notifications bar but the phone still shows it is on airplane mode with no data or phone service.
I have already turned phone off and on and have also hard resetted the phone to no avail. What is odd is before the update, phone was working fine with phone service and everything, now it's just stuck on airplane mode with no service, but everything else works fine.
I am traveling out of the country and my S6 is in airplane mode with wifi on and connected to a wifi network in a different country. However, the time zone is not updating, even though the phone knows I'm not in the Pacific time zone anymore (in Google Maps, it shows that I am in a different country). My previous Android phone, the Motorola DROID MAXX, also did not update the time zone despite being connected to a wifi network in a different country.
Interestingly enough, my iPhone 6 Plus, which is also in airplane mode with wifi on, does detect that I'm in a different time zone (once it connects to the wifi network) and changes the time automatically.
Am I missing a setting? Or is this a normal (non)function of Android phones?
Why don't we have wifi, data, bluetooth, and airplane mode or internet tethring toggles on notifications area? This will avoid jailbreaking our devices. Don't you think it will be verey useful ?

Just updated two days ago and my Airplane Mode icon will take me to the settings screen where I have to tap on Airplane Mode again which turns it into a two step process and makes the icon pointless. The other thing is that the screen is not dimming like it did in Power Saver mode. I keep my screen about 1/3 because indoors it's all I need and it would drop it about 10% before I updated to 4.3. Now it keeps it at the 1/3 default no matter what. I can't really say whether it's having a dramatic effect on battery life, but it would be nice to get that extra 5% in times of need.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had the hTC one for the past 5 days. This is my first android phone and so far liking it except for the bug that I encountered. The phone goes to airplane mode when it is sleeping. At work I try to connect to the wifi network to save on the MegaBytes in my T-mobile plan. When the phone goes into the airplane mode I can get it out of it only by pressing the power on button continuously and a menu shows up that allows me to disable the airplane mode.
it is frustrating that a great phone has a bug such as this that might prevent me from receving calls even when there is a signal present. I am hoping this can be resolved just by a software update.

View 9 Replies View RelatedBattery drain months ago prior to an OS update, but I only purchased my M9 two months ago, and the battery drain has been shocking.I haven't rooted the phone, or done anything to it. I turned off Google Now. I keep screen brightness on relatively low. I turned off notifications for all apps, including really active ones like Facebook and Instagram. I keep GPS off unless I need it. No Bluetooth, nothing. And yet my battery just drains and drains.
Last Sunday I kept my phone on airplane mode for most of the day (I did turn the mode off a few times to check texts but then turned back on again). My battery kept draining throughout the day, I started the day at 100%, and by 6pm it was at 20% battery. ON AIRPLANE MODE! I can't upload a screenshot right now but battery usage stats say Google Services used 38% of my battery during the day - what is this?! I turn off most things so that Google can't use my phone or notify me of anything, and yet it uses my battery so badly.
It's making me hate my phone - my old Nexus 5 and then OnePlus One was never this bad. I'm actually jealous of my iPhone friends who can use their phone for a day and a half before charge runs out!!
My Verz HTC One "stays awake" in airplane mode...I put my phone in airplane mode at work due to no signal but my battery will drain and my battery history shows the phone awake the whole time (no screen shot) Hard reset fixes problem only for a short period..there are no apps running...

when I set my phones alarm clock at night, the phone has recently started going into airplane mode of its own accord. This isn't affecting the alarm but obviously I am missing any texts or phonecalls coming through and don't get them until I wake and change the phone mode back. I am running ICS 4.0.3 LPS rooted using Chainfires kernel.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI know this is probably a really stupid question but this is the last chance to try and locate my gf's iphone which she has just lost in a taxi somewhere in Hong Kong. As she does not have international roaming she had it set on airplane mode so it's not like she can just call it up and find out if it's been handed in Is there anyway to remotely turn off airplane mode?I realise the automatic response might be 'well if she doesn't have a cellular network, how do you think you could sent anything to the phone even if there was a way to do it" but I'm literally grasping at straws here
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've had the phone for less than a month. Every time I turn my phone on the Airplane Mode ON is showing on the startup screen, but when I go into settings it is unticked, so meant to be off.
Also, I've noticed that the NFC has sometimes been automatically ticked in the settings when I turn it on.
I did a factory reset, but that never changed anything.
I then contacted Sony Support and took their advice to go into PC Companion and click Software Updates, then Repair, which it did, but it is still coming on in Airplane Mode, even when unticked in settings.
My mobile network has been disconnected because of it and is telling me I can't make calls until Flight Mode is switched off, even when I switch it off on the startup screen too.
My M8 isn't receiving signal, everything else works fine, I checked the sim card in another phone and it works.
I did notice that airplane mode is stuck tuning off.
I rooted the phone (very new to rooting) but didn't go so far as to flash a mod. I unrooted the phone back to stock. It was fine for a couple of weeks, then one day randomly lost signal.
I've tried factory resetting but no luck.
it possible for you to implement in the next firmeware version an air plane mode in the night mode of the smart connect app...
