IPhone :: Unable To Have Wifi, Data, Bluetooth And Airplane Mode Toggles On Notifications Area?
Apr 20, 2012
Why don't we have wifi, data, bluetooth, and airplane mode or internet tethring toggles on notifications area? This will avoid jailbreaking our devices. Don't you think it will be verey useful ?
I switch to airplane mode and hope to turn off all notifications because there is no connectivity to wi-fi or 3G. It turns out I was wrong, I woke up in the middle of the night to the vibration and beep of my iPhone telling my that all of my planes have landed! But do I really need to know this at 2:00 in the morning? I don't think so! I made sure airplane mode was still on and it was but I was still getting notifications just from that one app. I would like to know how to disable this without having to go into notifications settings, pocket planes, etc.
I went into Airplane Mode today using the widget. It turned off my Wifi (but not GPS?) and went into Airplane Mode just fine. Then when using the widget to turn Airplane Mode off I see my Wifi turn back on, but the Airplane Mode isn't removed. The only way I can find to actually take the phone out of Airplane mode is to hold the power button and toggle it from the silent/airplane/power popup.
I cannot send or receive texts at home because there is insufficient service at my house so I use iMessage over wifi. The issue is that when I am on wifi and out of service the phone will not send iMessages or texts over wifi unless the phone is in Airplane mode. Does anyone know how to make wifi the default iMessage so that I can send iMessages over wifi without going to Airplane mode? It tries to send them but it acts as if there is no service when I have full wifi and as soon as I switch to Airplane mode and keep wifi connected, all messages send fine.
My Z3 is acting up. My Bluetooth and Airplane mode will turn on automatically and when I turn my phone on, sometimes my messaging will be open with words like: awsdt jgtuio gods. Also, today my Facebook opened on it's own and was going to post letters like above on it.
I realised on my mobile that once i activate airplane mode with the mobile data on, it doesnt disable the mobile data. It is still on while the wifi turns off.
Ive always had my wifi on that way when i enter a saved network or att hotspot it switches to wifi and i save on data useage. Well, sometime after the gingerbread update my wifi stopped working correctly. It would be on and show the wifi symbol but when two saved network locations, it would "connect" to the network but no data was being sent or recieved. I even tried it on an att hotspot and no luck. The wifi turns on fine and says it is connected but it hasno signal as indicated by the grayed out wifi signal bar. Now i read something that said to put the phone in airplane mode and thenturn wifi on and it should work fine, well i did that and it works as long as i stay in airplane mode. I dont see this as a fix but instead as only more evidence to an apparent problem. What good is wifi on a phone if i can only use it when the phone can no longer work as a phone.
I know you are being pounded with questions about the update. So I will pile on and ask another! I have a Verizon branded 3G Xoom purchased from Motorola on the first day available. I have not activated the Verizon service and use the Xoom on Wi-fi only. My question is I have the airplane mode on with just the wi-fi radio on. Does this affect the update? The unit will more than likely look like a wi-fi only device to the update servers?
I'm having some weird issues with the WIFI connections when my phone is on airplane mode. I can't connect to both of my home WIFI - 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Both of the SSIDs are not being displayed at all, until I turned off airplane mode. However, both my Nexus 7 (2013) and HTC One are working fine with their airplane modes. Is this some crazy limitations of Windows Phone again?
I am traveling out of the country and my S6 is in airplane mode with wifi on and connected to a wifi network in a different country. However, the time zone is not updating, even though the phone knows I'm not in the Pacific time zone anymore (in Google Maps, it shows that I am in a different country). My previous Android phone, the Motorola DROID MAXX, also did not update the time zone despite being connected to a wifi network in a different country.
Interestingly enough, my iPhone 6 Plus, which is also in airplane mode with wifi on, does detect that I'm in a different time zone (once it connects to the wifi network) and changes the time automatically.
Am I missing a setting? Or is this a normal (non)function of Android phones?
Who feels motorola should implement battery percentage and notification toggles into motoblur. I really like it on samsungs touchwiz and it would be a great implementation to have it on our devices. We could pull down our notification and change the toggles or just check a box in settings and have battery percentage right next to the battery icon.
Just updated two days ago and my Airplane Mode icon will take me to the settings screen where I have to tap on Airplane Mode again which turns it into a two step process and makes the icon pointless. The other thing is that the screen is not dimming like it did in Power Saver mode. I keep my screen about 1/3 because indoors it's all I need and it would drop it about 10% before I updated to 4.3. Now it keeps it at the 1/3 default no matter what. I can't really say whether it's having a dramatic effect on battery life, but it would be nice to get that extra 5% in times of need.
I just updated via bravo . once it reset and installed update. it reloads and wifi is off. I re connect to prior connection and it scans then disconnects. I need the wifi because ATT will charge you your first born for data usage. MOTO current Android version says 2.2.1. I dont want to be violated.
I am going on a cruise to Mexico Monday and I want to be able to leave my iPhone on to listen to my iTunes and use the Wi-Fi... If I put my phone on airplane mode will it run the bill up with roaming charges?? The only reason I'm worried is because its a company phone and my boss will freak out!! lol
I know this is probably a really stupid question but this is the last chance to try and locate my gf's iphone which she has just lost in a taxi somewhere in Hong Kong. As she does not have international roaming she had it set on airplane mode so it's not like she can just call it up and find out if it's been handed in Is there anyway to remotely turn off airplane mode?I realise the automatic response might be 'well if she doesn't have a cellular network, how do you think you could sent anything to the phone even if there was a way to do it" but I'm literally grasping at straws here
My iPhone 4 iOS 5.0.1, cannot grab a signal after I turned my iphone into airplane mode because my sim is not roaming sim to avoid battery drain due to searching of carrier, after going back to the country, i turned off airplane mode but No service is shown, I tried restoring it, turning it off and many things.
just got the new iphone 4s. I want to listen to audiobooks while on a long overseas flight, which won't have wifi. i downloaded an audiobook off itunes, but when i turn on airplane mode, i can't play the book. is there any way to listen to audiobooks in airplan mode?
I reset my iPhone to factory settings and all went well. However, before I did so, I forgot that I had put it in airplane mode and didn't switch it out. Airplane mode is still on and there's no way to get it out. What's the big deal? Well it's trying to reactivate my phone and it won't activate it without the antennas on...and I can't get to the Settings to disable Airplane mode because it's in that iOS 5 initial set up. I can't get past it at all to?How can I get this Airplane mode disabled so it can activate? I tried activating through iTunes and it didn't work. It is not jailbroken or anything.
I have an iPhone 3GS, purchased in March of this year. It's worked great except one thing: twice so far my phone has been displaying full bars and EDGE while my mom's iPhone 3GS displays full bars and 3G. When this happens, I can make phone calls and send text messages, but I can't get on Safari or anything else that uses data. The first time this happened (about a month and a half ago), I just turned off my phone, removed the SIM card and put it back in, and let it sit, turned off, for about an hour. Then when I turned it back on, it was fine. This time, I have tried that to no effect. It's not simply that I have bad coverage where I'm at or no 3G because my mom's phone works fine. I recently updated to 4.0.1, if that makes any difference (my mom has not).Is there any fix for this I can try myself? Or should I take my phone into AT&T and let them deal with it?
Every time when I need to switch from 3G to 4G, I need to reset network settings and toggle Airplane mode and restart the phone. Why? Is there a permanent fix?
Myself and my friend have iphone 4s. we are unable to transfer data or pictures using Bluetooth, how to do this? The bluetooth symbol is not shown though it is made active.
