So my friend ended up rooting my phone after I got it back from him and now when it asks me to sign in I put all my details in and it ends up saying google cannot connect to the severs and I haven't been able to do anything (sign into Gmail accounts,go on google play store,etc) ...

My phone is rooted, with TWRP 3.0.
I rooted my N6 and have TWRP installed. A beautiful combination, however, recently I have been getting upgrades from Google for the phone which will not install. The upgrade has the phone reboot into recovery mode, which is TWRP and then it simply does not take place.
I did not want to put on a custom ROM, I simply wanted to get two apps running and for that, I had to be rooted.
How I do the upgrades now? I used the WUG kit to even put the phone back to stock and remove TWRP but then when it went to do the upgrade it went to the recovery screen and showed an error when it tried to upgrade. I am not sure if my bootloader was locked or not, maybe that was the culprit.
I'd like to leave the phone rooted with TWRP but still do the upgrades?? How??
My nexus 5 is root and use TWRP recovery. every month i get security patch notification but the installation failed.
should i unroot my device or revert to stock recovery or both?
I am trying to encrypt my rooter N5 with latest Marshmallow. I have following apps installed - SuperSu, TWRP, Busybox,and ROM Toolbox.
I am trying to adb shell --> su --> then
pkill -KILL daemonsu
And immediately I go into settings and try to Encrypt. I get green android screen and then the phone reboots and goes into boot loop, (I verified... waited for more than 1hr). I interrupt bootloop by powering it off and restart, it will boot normally but not encrypted.
Is it possible to get updates for Nexus phone after rooting it?

What is the easiest way to upgrade to marshmallow with minimum fuss ,prefrebly with Wugs nexus root toolkit. I also want to root the nexus on marshmallow and install xposed .
I successfully rooted my Nexus 5 without entirely knowing what I was doing. But I am finally ready for the Lollipop update that came over the air several days ago. I finally downloaded it, but when it got ready to install it the phone went into what I believe was recovery mode and said "teamwin," before opening up to a menu. From there, I didn't exactly know what to do to get Lollipop to install itself.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got an odd issue with Nexus 5. I had previously rooted under KitKat, and then decided to update to Lollipop. I used the adb sideload to push the OTA update onto the phone. It appears that in the update I lost my root (not the real issue) and everything with Lollipop seems fine. Something in my device claims that it's still rooted (even though every root checker says I'm not). I utilize the Good for Enterprise app and it's telling me that I'm not in compliance and keeps wiping my account (after setting it up again with my IT group). IT claims I'm rooted since it's wiping, but like I said every root checker says that I'm not. What I find weird is apps like Solid Explorer and Helium "think" I'm rooted for a brief second, but don't let me do anything that having root would let me do. (helium reverts to non-root after saying there was an error executing Superuser and solid explorer asks me to install BusyBox).
IIRC just factory wiping the device wouldn't get rid of root. Do I root again and then try to unroot? Do I try something else? Basically I don't need/want root, but I obviously want my Good for Enterprise to work correctly. I can always push the factory image onto the phone using ADB if that would work. I can backup most of my apps and such with Helium and start over without it being a huge deal but I'm concerned even that wouldn't work.
Are there any apps for those of us not rooted for wakelocks? GSam battery monitor shows my phone is being held awake and that it is discharging more so with the screen off.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had a lot of issues with lollipop 5.1.1 in my nexus. All Google apps connected to internet only via WiFi and it wouldn't connect through the mobile data connection.
And then there was the battery life problem. So I switched to PA 4.6 beta based on kitkat. I would now like to try Marshmallow.
My question is, will downloading the factory image and flashing it through clockwork mod work? Or should I revert back to 5.1.1 nandroid backup I made earlier and wait for OTA? I can see some post about a feature called verity and the complications it brings to rooted users in 6.0. Does this affect the process of flashing a stock factory image on a rooted phone?
Recently my Nexus 5 stopped working. I get no display, But I can assume the phone is on because when I connect it, the holder on my computer opens up.
I assume there is something wrong with the connection. sometimes i can play with the daughterboard and the backlight lights up. but there is still no display.
The problem is that the phone is in PTP instead of MPT.
I don't care about the phone much as the pictures on it, because they are the last picture I have of a family member that recently passed away in an accident.
Even though the phone is rooted. when I load up Nexus toolkit, the phone is listed as unauthorized and I don't know how to pull any files off of it.
I have a rooted N5 and im running 6.0 build MRA58K and continue to get prompted to install a security update.My question is, is it safe to install this update, will i lose root or have to reroot? If i "unroot" the system with supersu and then install it after, would that work too? Also i would like to update my kernel to the newest version. Im running blu_spark build #30. Would i just reflash the kernel or do i have to jump through hoops by reflashing the rom first? I dont remember how it works.

I can access every area in settings accept the lock screen session. When I try to enter the lock screen session it gives me the "unfortunately, settings has stopped message."
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo basically I rooted and wanted to get rid of some of the bloat, and I removed fb Instagram, the Google+, mag, news, movies and music apps because I never use them, but now when ever I use voice search, it fcs and I'm not really sure, I used titanium to remove everything, could it be because of the other apps i removed?
If i remove google app and reinstall it would that be a fix? I'm stock rooted btw.
My son's nexus started rebooting on its own here and there a little less than a month ago. Last week it started boot looping. I would have to turn it off(only worked sometimes by going into fastboot mode). Tried resetting and wiping in recovery with no luck. This problem gets worse when it's plugged up to a computer the phone turns into a reboot machine. I read up it could be the power button and took it apart to find the button works fine (still cleaned out though).

My phone batter died and it switched off and after a few moments when i reached home i plugged in a charger and my phone wont show me charging sign nor it will turn up so i left it on charge for a couple of hours and returned to try the same switching on method and still it wont turn on. So started googling this problem and i came across a forum where it showed me to hard booth by pressing the volume down and power button.
Magically it did not work for me so i made an appoint to go and see LG Service Store and suddenly my phone turned on so i thought the problem was solved untill it happened again and again and again so now if my phone switches off i am not very sure if it would turn back on. As this is a very random problem and i am unable to solve it while the phone is on and if i charge it before the battery reaches the critical levels and shuts on its own i am just fine.
What can be the issue as battery works the whole day of medium to low use and also other hardware happens to function well without any hanging complaints. Also my phone randomly switches off if i am playing some game as it gets heated and the same story of phone not booting.
Whenever I lose WiFi (like when I leave home) I get an exclamation sign next to my cellular network strength symbol and a prompt to sign in to my cellular network which I can't resolve. I can make calls but I can't get any cellular data. This started happening when I updated to the latest Android 6.0. I've checked the APN and it's correct.

I changed the password in the Android Mail App (yellow icon) on my Nexus 5 and I can send and receive emails ok. however, every time I go into the App for this address I see the message "Can't sign In". Everything seems to be working fine though so I am not sure the relevance of this message of what I do to get rid of it.

Now whenever she goes to her contacts a message pops up saying Sign In or Sign Up to OVI. She's been on the phone now with Nokia for 2 hours trying to resolve.Anyone out there have any ideas?

Does anyone know what address the sign in page takes you too? When i click sign in it comes up with an error "COULD NOT SIGN IN" ."NOKIA OVI SUITE COULD NOT CONNECT TO THE NOKIA ACCOUNT SERVER. The problem is no one can "see" the smiley he sends. On his end (in text message, again stock) they show up as "generic" once sent, on my end (galaxy s3, not updated past 4.1.2 yet) it's blank.
