IPhone :: IOS 4 GM From Jailbreak / Lost 3G And MMS
Jun 16, 2010
I updated from jailbroken 3.1.2 to 4 GM thinking it would erase all jailbreak data and give a clean install of 4. Everything went great but my 3GS doesn't have 3G data or MMS available. I've seen other with this problem but no solution.I'd like to just restore and start over- but when I try to restore in iTunes I get errors when it checks on Apple's servers.
I just got my discount pricing from AT&T and want to go from my 3g to 3gs. If I walk into a store and buy one, can I jailbreak it? Do they upgrade the firmware on their stock or flash them when the customers get them? The store agreed to let me look at the phone before purchase, what should I look for? I have a friend there. What firmware is 100% breakable? I have no interest in iphone 4.0.
i found an alternative link at jailbreakme.com/blob.html. the site seems to be down atm. is there an alternative address i can use to jailbreak? ive tried both jailbreakme.com and jailbreakme.modmyi.com neither are working.
I'm hoping someone more inclined with iPhones than I would be able to present me with some options for jailbreaking my two iPhone 3GS's.
Here's my scenario: iPhone 3GS #1 has 4.0.1 iOS. 05.13.04 bootrom. No SHA1 blobs. iPhone 3GS #2 is brand new and right out of the box with no SIM inside it.
My goal is to ultimately jailbreak and unlock both, but there is so much information on the web and walkthroughs can be misleading. Delving through all of this information with all of the trial and error involved is quite tedious. If anyone knowledgeable on the forums would be able to share with me what ever would be the most painless way to jailbreak both of these devices, I would extremely appreciate it!
I am also running Mac OS 10.6.4 and iTunes ver. 10.
Has there been any news of a jailbreak on the Ipad. I know its the first day, but didn't Hotz say that he would have a jailbreak for the Ipad on the first day. Correct me if I'm wrong.
http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/16/i...to-developers/ Didn't see a topic on this. Looks like we might not have to wait long at all when the new phones come out to be able to jailbreak em. If anyone here is a JB app developer, get on that!
Ok so i noticed on the internet there are jailbreaks that you pay for. These all say they work with 3.1.3 on the new bootrom for a 3GS. Is this correct? They looklike established companys and I dont see how they would get away with lying. Any help would be appreciated.
Was running 4.0.1, did the www.jailbreakme.com stuff, and then rebooted my iPhone and all I get is the Apple Logo. This did not happen when I rebooted my 3GS, but I don't know what to do now. It was my first time jailbreaking.
In-App SMS is the only reason for some people to jailbreak their phone. When Steve Jobs announced the new features of iOS 4.0, this was the first thing I saw and I was really excited. I have a question, why isn't this utilized yet? I haven't heard anyone on Macrumors talk about this yet. Are the tools simply not available yet for developers at the moment?
i have got an iphone 3g and when i got it it was jailbroken so i went to restore it but it failed now it says i need to plug it into itunes all the time. what do i do?
I have created an app which is not accepted by app store due to the usage of private API. Now I want to distribute the app to jailbreak phones. I know that there is Cydia for distribution, but how do I create a file for distribution? In detail, after compilation, I have a signed *.app file (signed with Apple's distribution certificate). What do I have to do with this file, so that I can e.g. email it to friend who have jailbroken iPhones?
Well today I went and got my brand new iPhone 3GS. Plugged it in. Followed all the Pwnagetool guides to the T and when I get to the very last part, I got error message 1600, unable to restore. Surfing around I believe that my iPhone can not be jailbroken? Is that the case? iPhone just gets stuck in DFU or recovery mode and have to restore the iPhone with original apple firmware. On the last try I got a completely black screen and the iPhone only came back to life when I restored it with apple software. Any help is appreciated. I think because I have the lastest bootrom or loader I can not jailbreak as Pwnage tool doesnt support it yet. DAMN! I wanted Proswitcher and Backgrounder.
A while ago, i jailbroke iPhone 3G on 3.1.2 for the first few weeks it was working fine. Now it seems as my phone app is screwed up. I live in the country and my signal isn't the best. But it was never like this. This is what's happening -
-phone will drop all signal and drop the call when talking.
- i will call someone and it will sit forever and never ring for me, i call people and they can hear me for like 2 seconds then we cant hear each other.
- People sometimes can get threw to me when calling.
I've rebooted the phone, turned on/off 3G, and tryed the phone in diff. areas with no luck.I have these apps installed - Winterboard. Lockinfo. OpenSSH. Sbsettings. Categories. Cycorder. Five Icon dock. and a few others.
I just jailbreak my Iphone with "redsn0w-win_0.9.2". It works perfect. Its amazing, but I was wonder if I could jailbreak it again , but with another software like "blackra1n" or other software, you know to have more apps and things in the Iphone. Like in other word have two or more libraries with apps.It this possible ?
i currently have an iphone 3gs with 3.1.2 jailbroken. it was manufactured in week 29 of last year according to my serial number. does that mean i have the old boot rom/non MC-model? i know 3.1.3 has no new features. the only reason i have to update is because my cydia/apt is screwed up and the only way to fix it is to restore. itunes will not let me restore my 3.1.2 without updating (yes, i tried the shift/option button thing).i just want to know if i upgrade to 3.1.3, will i be able to jailbreak with snow breeze?p.s. i know i can upgrade and downgrade using saurik's method, but that's just too much work.
I live in Europe and my factory unlocked iPhone 3GS developed a fault, my wife is in the USA at the moment and has taken it to an Apple store who have swapped it for a new one but of course it will now be locked to AT&T.My question is can I unlock an iPhone before it is activated? Then once unlocked can I activate it using my local providers SIM or should I get my Wife to take it to AT&T for activation before she leaves USA in a couple of days time? Should I get an AT&T pay as you go sim card so that it it recognised by my iTunes? Also do you have to jailbreak before unlocking? I do not know which firmware version it will be but assume it will be 3.1.2 or 3.1.3 (I know there are issues with unlocking 3.1.3 at the moment but I can wait if necessary).
It took me all nite, but I was able to re-jailbreak my iPhone 3GS after I got stuck in reboot mode after a network reset and was forced to update to 3.1.3. This happened almost 3 weeks ago, and I not only lost my jailbreak, but all of the apps, photos and EVERYTHING that I had on my phone as after I did the update to 3.1.3 I could only set up my phone as a new device. Anyway, I searched online and I found all of the tools I needed to accomplish this task. I downloaded Redsn0w 0.9.2, BlackRa1n RC3, The 3.1.2 ispw firmware, and iRecovery. I also found a post on hacking the drivers folder in the Windows/System32/drivers/etc/hosts file in Windows that would allow 3.1.3 to be downloaded to 3.1.2. It took a couple of hours and some patience, but when all was said and done I was able to downgrade the firmware and re-jailbreak my phone.
I have an iPhone 3G which is currently jailbroken using QuickPWN. My firmware is version 2.2.1 with Modem Firmware 02.30.03.
Without the more recent 3.x.x firmware I cannot use some of the newer Apps which require this update. With all of the banter about preserving baseband and future unlock & jailbreaking what is the best way to update my firmware and re-jailbreak the phone?
Can you use a jailbreak 3GS 3.1.3 as a GPS mapping device, ie. TomTom ?
Am a complete newby to this. Have been reading forums for two evenings, and need some clarity Re. GPS. Am going to buy a iphone 3GS 16G soon, and it will have 3.1.3 firmware. Have never had any of the Tomtom type GPS devices, or an iphone, before. I need the GPS thing for my new job--lots of traveling around town, looking for residential addresses.
I have noticed this sort of thing on some friends phones. You enter the address into the phone, and then it verbally and visually gives you instructions on how to get to the location. A few questions:
1. Is this an "app" that you buy once, or do you subscribe to it monthly, or what ? 2. Will it still work on a jailbreak 3GS, 3.1.3? 3. Is there any additional esoteric knowledge or info I should seek about this GPS function ?
hey all been lurking for a while trying to learn as much about jailbreaking and its issues before i took the plunge on my virgin 3gs. the rave reviews about the new spirit jb convinced me, so i did it yesterday and couldnt be happier. it was so easy, in fact it was anti climactic. i was expecting something to go wrong, or some sort of headache but it was so quick and easy. im a windows vista user so i just changed the compatibility mode to win 98 and it went without a hitch. so far ive added lockinfo and im using glaskart theme. cant wait to play around to modding it more. so just wanna say thanks to everyone on this forum, theres a wealth of knowledge here.4.0, who needs 4.0 now?
Everyone keeps saying that doing a restore removes the jailbreak, making a jailbreak undetectable. That seems to only be partially true.I had 3.1.2 jailbroken and used LockDown-App to protect mail/sms and the like with another, if tiny protection so I could hand out my phone knowing not everyone could read my mail and stuff.
However, that eventually also caused me to have to restore and when I realized there's a JB for 3.1.3 (spirit), I decided: What the heck.I restored to 3.1.3 and because my backup was corrupt, had to set up as new.I jailbroke with spirit and haven't installed LockDown again, because it kept crashing on me.
Today I SSH'd into my phone and to my surprise, I found remnants of the LockDown App still being there, directories and files. So, unless there's something else I should have done before or while restoring, the simple act of restoring as new does NOT seem to entirely remove all traces of a jailbreak. In theory, Apple could jailbreak allegedly bricked phones and so find traces of previous jailbreaking. Cause for concern?
