Jun 29, 2012Last week my phone just turned off out of nowhere and after a whole night charging. when it turns on the apple logo appears and then it goes off again - even if still charging. when i conect it to my mac it says that i should conect to itunes. it stayed updating the softweare for nearly two hours, then i couldn't turn it on again, neither the apple logo appeared...i tried again and it didn't work because the itunes looks for an update and then says "unkown error (2001)"...i receted it millions of times with the home and power buttons, but nothing happened.
The most annoying thing is that I was in a technical assistance store and because my phone is out of warranty, I would have to send by mail to another city - paying $ 300.00 (!!!) in order to fix it. curiously my iphone's (3GS 16mb) invoice date is 22/06/2010 and (what about that?!) my cell phone crashed on last Thursday night ... (maybe midnight?) that day was ... 22/06/2012. coincidence?

I tried to give the phone a hard reset but I have not been able to get the phone to respond. I also tried the same steps used to put the phone into DFU mode to see if it would restart and no change. Jun 19, 2014So I saw I had an update the other night so I decided to download it. After I thought it was through, I check my phone and it says plug into iTunes. I didn't think anything of it so I plug it in. An alert saying my iPhone is in recovery mode. So I do the whole restore thing and it doesn't work. It gets about 3/4 of the way done then says error 29. I have tried it many times, as well as updating my iTunes and different cables even restarting my computer. Is there anything else that I can do?

Aug 26, 2010tonight I updated itunes to the latest version 9.2, then I check to see whether my actual iphone software needed to be updated. it said the new version available was the 4 one.
once it went to finish installing it said it couldn't be installed properly due to error 21. so after several times trying to get it to work I decided to restore.
but now it wont even restore cause the same error 21 keeps coming up. once I clicked restore it looks like its about to finish but then the error comes up then stops, now my phone is stuck with the itunes logo with the usb

Mar 28, 2010There is this 2G iPhone that is (almost?) bricked.
As far as I know, the phone did work until recently, was not dropped, but suddenly got stuck at this screen:
The owner is not computer savvy, and is unsure whether the firmware has been updated (by chance or not).
Right now the phone is stuck at the "Restore needed" screen.
What have I done so far:
Put it in DFU, iTunes finds is, and tells me it needs to be restored;
I have downloaded the 1.1.4, 2.2, and 3.1.2 firmwares for the 2G;
I have tried to SHIFT+RESTORE many times, and every single time it ends up giving me error 23.
I tried all of the above-mentioned firmwares, have tried with iTunes 9.0.3, 8.2 and 7.5 MANY times -
with the same result: Error 23.
There is something interesting:
when I tap the "i" on the screen, it shows a windows that says: IMEI: Unknown, and ICCID: Unknown
I have searched online for a whole day now, and people say that this is related to a hardware problem with the modem;
others said that it could be fixed by flashing w/ older firmware and older iTunes version - both of which I have tried.
So bottom line is that after all I have tried I am still nowhere.
And ideas what else I could try?
