I'm probably moving to central Florida in the next few month from the UK.
I have an iPhone 4 and my Wife has my old 3GS, she currently uses pay as you go with the cellular data turned off on the phone and I have a £35 per month 600mins unlimited data o2 plan.
Both phones are legitimately unlocked.
Anyone know what the best tariffs / carriers are and what my options will be?
I was also wondering if it would be best to sell the unlocked 3GS once we get to the states and get her a 4 as (I believe) officially unlocked iPhones are hard to come by in the US and it might be worth enough that we'd get enough money to get her a locked 4.
Just looking for advise so any would be appreciated.
I have this iphone 4s with me, which was earlier activated on Verizon CDMA network, but now I am in India and phone is still locked to carrier. Now in order to use this with Gevey sim, i need to get this activated again. but the problem is i dont have access to verizon cdma nw.. can i activate it using verizon gsm simcard?
i have my uncles old i phone im not sure if its the 3g or 3gs but it wont connect to my wifi at my house im wondering what it is i have tryed to restore it and i have tryed multiple sim cards i have at&t but i dont want a data plan so i just want to have wifi with the iphoen without a data plan
I have followed the instructions to use an unactivated iPhone 3G as an iPod touch, but I can't add new apps that I downloaded from my new iPhone to the old one. When I click on the "apps" section everything is visible but dithered out so that I can't add new apps or rearrange the old ones.
My brother passed on his old iPhone 3GS so my kids could use it as an iPod Touch equivalent, but I'm having trouble activating it. First, I did read the main support article on this:

But it says you either need the SIM card from your new iPHone or the original SIM card.
1. My own iPHone 4S has a microSIM that won't fit in the 3GS's SIM card slot.
2. The 3GS does not have its original SIM card (my brother doesn't have it, thinks the carrier took it back when he upgraded). I tried inserting a SIM card from a prepaid phone my kids use for emergencies but the 3GS would not activate with that SIM card installed. Right now the 3GS is stuck unable to activate.
I would like to give my old 3gs to my son for Wi-Fi use only. I saw the instructions above on what to do, but I have the 4s which has the mini SIM. I have already disposed of the other card at the AT&T store. Should I call Apple or AT&T for help now?
how to connect to PC using sony errison X8 wireless? I have tried to download the "Tether" from Marker, PDAnet, easytether, and follow the step given at forum, but still same.
Right now I'm on a TELUS family plan with 4 people and there are no iPhones. I want to get an iPhone and have it on the family plan but also not buy a data plan. Is it possible to do this? So basically my plan would be around $25 a month with unlimited text and caller ID.
I just picked up a MiFi 4G device and I carry it at all times. However since it has a cap on data per month I want it to be secondary to several other unlimited WiFi networks such as my office WiFi, home WiFi, free WiFi hotspots, etc. Is there any work around to make the MiFi wireless (or any permanent wireless network) 2nd to all other recognized networks? This is the ideal set-up for my iPhone 4 and iPad 2 WiFi. I don't want to have to turn the MiFi on and off constantly, I want it on in the background as a seamless secondary option. I appreciate any insight and find it odd that you cannot prioritize networks. Meaning if I "forgot this network" and start over will the 1st joined or most recent joined become primary when there are multiple networks available?
I have the 8520, and have no data plan with my carrier in my post payment plan, i thought , since i have wi-fi at home, office and tons of hot spots. I can use my BB to access the web using free wi-fi as i have been doing with my last 4 smartphones.Big mistake. i have been charged 55 us last month, for data transfer use , i ran to my plan´s assistance office ( telcel in Mexico ), and the answer i got was. you have to get a data plan from us to be able to use wi-fi ( obviuosly i stared at her , just nodding my head ).There is no point in having a device that has acces to wi fi networks , if i cant access the wi fi network without you data plan, so i got the lady to bring the tech guy. His response was...naaahhh...it will access the wi fi. but we´ll charge u anyway. you need to disable the network from the phone and only leave the wi fi option on so you can access without any other charge, but this will leave you with no phone connection.
Is this real? did i just spend 399us in a gadget that has wi fi capabilities but will not be able to get on any wi fi connection form home or work, without being charged for data transmission over my cell providers network?cmon this sounds as stupid as it does in my head ? i would be really disapointed if i just left my old Nokia E71 SPhone, for this beautiful BB Curve 8520 THAT DOES NOT CONNECT TO THE WI Fi.
I have a bold 9000 on Vodafone which has been unlocked. My phone provider is on O2 and I have internet access plan but not bis plan. I would like to know if I can install an O2 os on and then some way use my internet access on my O2 sim card to access the net on bold 9000?
i was wondering if a buy an iphone 4s online from U.S.A with a plan that they are already offering can i use a different sim card and plan in the dominican republic... more specific in santo domingo?
I have a text only package for my iphone, b/c it saves us a lot of $ not to have MMS. However, every once in awhile I want to send an MMS with a picture. Are there any apps that allow me to send an MMS without actually having an MMS plan on my phone? I cant do it directly through AT&T because it actually won't go through.
I now have an iPhone 4 and am getting ready to sell my 3Gs. However, a family member would love to have the 3Gs but does not use texting, email, etc.Is there a way I can use the 3Gs on our ATT Family plan but without the cost of a data plan? My new iPhone 4 is on the Family Plan.Is this where "unlocking" the iPhone would apply?Very basic question - easier (for me) to ask than searching.
I'm trying to get a family plan right now with my friend but my friend lives Ohio and i live in Pennsylvania. If I get a new contract and add a line, is it possible that my friend can pick her iPhone up in her state and I pick my iPhone up in Pennsylvania?
And one more question. In a family plan, does one person have to pay the total bill or is it possible to divide the bill equally?
What is the best U.S. prepaid carrier i can use for an iPhone 3G? I currently can't use my plan so i have to use prepaid for a few months at the max. I don't need data. (although data would be nice )
It seems that the new (4G) IPhone according to the leaked prototypes has a micro SIM card. So the usual upgrade plan for many (wife has a free upgrade, gets the new phone, which is swapped with the spouses current iIhone) does not work as the physical format of the cards is different.
Any idea if AT&T can transfer the SIM and change the phone numbers so that this is working again. Is this why Apple is doing this? While there is an adapter from micro to normal SIM one has to physically cut the normal sim card down (gulp). Don't want to know what AT&T is saying if you go to them and say the card doesn't work since it was cut down.
Since AT&T seems to be ridiculous with this pushing upgrades back business, my 3GS made it so I can't upgrade myself, but I'm going to be using my little brother on the family plan's upgrade. The issue is, I'll be in California for Camp while my whole family will be in Oregon.
I'm just trying to figure out the best way to do this. Can I order it to Camp with his phone number on it, then when I get it, plug it into my computer and just put my phone number in it, and still pay the $199 instead of $399? Is there a better way to do this?
I'm a current AT&T and IPhone 3G user. My contract is expired and I am eligible to upgrade to the new IPhone 4. My friend and I would like to start a family plan together and both get IPhone 4's. Would I still be able to get my $30/month unlimited data if we start a new family plan? Or would I now be reverted to AT&T new data plan?
How exactly does it work? Is it different from the family plan with normal phones. Right now I have an IPhone 3g and my wife has a basic cell phone added onto my plan as an extra line for $9.99. Would this stay the same if we BOTH were to get the new IPhone, and the only thing extra to pay for would be an extra $25 a month for the data plan for her phone? I'm just looking for a break down of how the IPhone family plan works, not sure if there is a combined family data plan or if you pay for each individually. Any info on this would be appreciated, AT&Ts site isn't very clear.
Can anyone provide me with a link to At&t's family plan pricing for the IPhone now that they have the new data plans? I'm trying to figure out whether it will be cheaper for me to get my wife an IPhone or let her keep her crappy phone on another carrier. I can't seem to find it anywhere on At&t's site.
I apologize for the constant barrage of IPhone 4 upgrade questions, but here is mine, laid out for my needs. - My dad has himself and 4 other member of our family on a family*Family Plan. - I am the only person in the family with an IPhone. - Everyone is available for an AT&T upgrade, except for me (February 2011).
Here is my question: I would like to get the new iPhone 4 when it comes out. My friend wants to buy my IPhone 3Gs. She is on Verizon. From what I read, I can do family plan upgrade transfers, etc. Could I use her phone to upgrade to an IPhone 4, sell my old phone, have her new IPhone transferred over to my 3G SIM card (I would keep my old number, and she would keep hers), and she would simply put a sim card back into her old phone, with her old number. Essentially, both myself and my mother would like to keep our existing numbers, but I would be using her upgrade for myself. However, I would be willing to change my number if that is the only way it works out. What is the exact process involved with this 'maneuver'?
I'm thinking of moving to ATT for the iPhone 4 but I'm wondering if there is still an additional fee to use an enterprise account on the iPhone. I've been looking on Apple & ATT's sites but haven't found anything about it recently.
Me and my fiancée want to get the IPhone 4 but I've been hearing that apple wont sell or activate two IPones to the same family plan. How would I go about preordering? I called apple and At&t and they didn't have a clear answer.
