IPhone :: Multiple Entries Possible For Contacts Birthday / Anniversary
Apr 9, 2012
Using Contacts to enter birthdates/anniversaries - I store some of my contacts as couples/families (contact numbers are the same) (eg Mary & Terry in notes children Peter (birthdate) Anne (birthdate). How can I show these birthdates, anniversary. I know I can enter one birthdate and one anniversary but is it possible somehow to enter more than one and have it labelled (e.g. Mary birthday, Terry birthday, Peter etc) and then show up on the calendar.
I was trying to correct a problem with birthday calendar entries appearing a day early, and I followed a post that said I should go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings, and now it's asking me whether I want to set up as a new iphone. I haven't recently done any manual backup. Where should I back up from or if I chose "setup as new iphone" will all my data be lost?
I have contact list with records for a lot of people (300+), each with several phone numbers each, home, mobile & work, etc, .I can't seem to find a way to have the iPhone announce the name & number or name & type (home, mobile, work) of the caller from the contact list, my old cell phone could do that easily.
At the moment what I've been doing as a work around for a few (important) people is to create a custom ringtone for that caller & that phone number. Since it also seems there's no way to attach a different ringtones to each number in a single contact record I've had to create multiple contact records for each person, each with a different name/number combination such as "John Doe Work", "John Doe Home" or John Doe Mobile" then assign to it the custom ringtone I created for that name/number.
I need to this so that if I receive a call while I'm driving (or whatever) that I can't answer right then for some reason (often happens), the ringtone I created for that name & number helpfully lets me know who & where their calling from. It's very important to know where someone is calling from, if someone's calling from home then I know I've got some time, but if their calling from work then I need to get back to them quickly.
having to make multiple contacts & ringtones for a every person with multiple numbers is a extraordinary waste of time. My old cell phone could do this with no problem but there doesn't seem to be any way to do this with my new iphone.
Why does my Blackberry have multiple calendar entries based upon my different associated email accounts? I use MS Outlook for my calendar and I only have a single entry, so why the multiple entries? Also why do I have to choose which account to attach the calendar entry to?
Recently when I add a new contact the 9700 creates multiple entries. When I delete these multiple entries then it leaves approx 10 blank spaces. If I leave the multiple entries for the same person then the next person who I add will only show once. Why do they appear multiple times? How can I delete the multiple entries so they do not reappear when I create the next entry?
I upgraded to an N8 recently and manually inserted all my contacts including birthdays. Afterwards, I noticed that there has been some discussion (since 2010) around the issue that notifications in respect of birthdays is not possible from the contact list on this handset (that is without paying and installing a third party app to solve the problem.) My question is then: Why does the contact list even allow for input regarding birthdays? Really what is the purpose of this? Does anybody use this in some way? I do not use the phone's calender and it will be a tiresome exersise to update the odd 232 birthdays manually from my contact list to the calander, to get notifications.
For some reason all the birthdays in the phone contacts shows day later than it is on my windows live contacts? So in Windows live a contacts birthday is correct, but in the phone it shows incorrectly day later. How is this possible as my phone gets the contact cards from the Windows live and they should be the same? I have checked the time zones and all match.

How to send multiple contacts to someone? i know you can send multiple pictures, but i need to send all my contacts to my macbook because itunes is acting up and not giving me my old contacts back.
Have duplicate contacts on iPhone and iPad...sometimes multiple duplicates of same contacts. Contact in iCloud Sync is turned off.Contacts managed through Exchange.Have deleted and re-added Exchange account multiple times. Fixes the problem temporarily. What's the permanent fix?
So I have some contacts with outdated phone numbers. When I open up the contact in question and then hit the edit tab I often don't see the number(s) that need to be changed or deleted. Across the top of the screen right under the "save" and "cancel" tabs I see a horizontal list of where this contact has an entry - - Google, Phone, Cloud, WhatsApp. Sometimes the phone numbers I'm looking for are in one of these but there seems to be no way to edit these as the entries are greyed out so they cannot be changed.
FWIW on the main Contacts setting I have it set up to only display Gmail linked entries.
How to get rid of incorrect phone numbers listed in any given contact entry?
Ok i'm been reading up on syncing to multiple computers (through google and apple support) and it seems slpit on it can and can't be done... I got 2 computers, my main desktop which I use to sync everything and my laptop that i would like to sync only contacts (maybe calendar too). How can I go about doing this?
Is there a way to send a gaint vcard to my laptop's outlook to "sync" my contacts, something over bluetooth, or can I use itunes? This is the setting I'm looking to have
After setting up iCloud on my iPhone, my wife's and my daughters, all our contacts have been deleted. I have been trying to recover them, but I keep coming up empty.
How I can delete duplicate contact and address book entries on my Storm 2 (running .428). I initially installed Google Sync app which synced the contacts correctly without duplicates but the address book entries got duplicated. I subsequently added my Gmail account using the built-in email set up, now I have duplicate contacts. On the web, there are no duplicates on neither the address book nor my contacts. I have disabled the contact sync on the Google Sync, with no luck. I searched the forum and it seems there are others that have reported the same problems but no real solutions have been offered.
I have a bb curve 8300 from sprint and for 4 times in a row with two phones, i have an error message that pops up after taking out the battery. every time i get it the sprint store resets the phone and wipes all my contacts and calendar entries. this is getting very frustrating and making me want to get rid of my blackberry even though i like it a lot. once i get the error message is says resent under it and if you press it, it looks like its starting up again but then the error message comes up and that it. it just does it over and over again.
I cant even add an email address to a contact in the contacts app because the only choice you have is a numerical keypad for adding data, despite the fact the contacts app gives the message "Add a Name or Number" in the phone app
How on earth can i add a Name with a Numerical keypad? Why do we have to have an email contact in the email app and a phone contact in the phone contact not unified in one contacts app? Â Total proof that Sony does not think Innovative. Unlike Apple, which allows addition of facebook page, twitter, web address, emails.
A mere single contacts app should be the HQ for all forms of initiating communication with a known contact, but with Xperia and Android, it seems that you have to have to find Mr Smiths email address by going to email app, and his phone number by going to contacts app. Â The stupidest thing about the Xperia is that the phone app says ""Enter Name or Number" but only allows you to enter a Number, and has no Keyboard to enter a Name!
xperia x10, how can I easily view all contacts to send the same sms to with out typing in the first 2 letters of there name, just want a drop down list because sometimes I can't remeber everybodys name that I want to send the message to because sometimes its 30 people and that would be a slow way of doing typing the first 2 letters, is this at all possible, last phone had drop down box and you just scrolled through and ticked which ones
