Is there someplace in the software of my 3Gs that says whether or not the phone is unlocked? I don't want to get overseas and find out too late that I did it wrong. AT&T did their part. And I think I did my correctly. But how do I know I have achieved "unlockness"?
So, I just bought a JB'en iphone 3g tonight.Went ahead and unlocked it using ultrasn0w.Connected it to my mac/itunes, and it asks "an iphone has been previously synced with this computer. setup as a new iphone -or- restore the backup of ***"So, since I had purchased apps using my *** phone (actually was an ipod touch that i got rid of), I'm thinking that I should restore the backup so that I can get my paid apps back for free.
Questions: -will restoring this backup to the new unlocked phone restore it to its original locked state (i.e. will i have to re-jailbreak/unlock)? or will it simply restore preferences, etc...? -otherwise, if i call this phone a new name, is there a way to transfer my purchased apps to the new phone's account?

I bought an iPhone 3GS on iDay, and now wanna sell it in anticipation of the 4gen, OK, so I knew 3.1.3 with Modem 5.12 can't be unlocked, so I've kept hitting ignore on upgrade from 3.1.2, so I have 3.1.2 with modem 5.11 on there, so I think it can be unlocked no problem. OK, so my question is: How can I restore and erase all my info while keeping 3.1.2 intact? Just hit option-restore? THen how to jb and unlock? Blackrain and then how to unlock? And the last question, isn't there a way to upgrade to 3.1.3 while keeping 5.11 intact? Superbowl Sunday something?
I used redsn0w, hopefully that unlocks as well as jb. plan on selling it to a friend with t mobile, but want to know if its unlocked before i go over there .
I have an unlocked iphone 3gs that I want too use on my 3week trip to the USA....i did it last year with a $49 plan w AT&T but cant seem to find that offer anymore
How can I tell if my Iphone 3GS is unlocked. I bought it used and it still has ATT info on screens but the seller said it was unlocked. Is there a test or message somewhere?
I purchased a IPhone 4S from SFR and after completing three months, requested them to unlock my phone. They have sent me a mail that my phone is unlocked but actually it is not. I called the customer care of Apple to confirm that they have not received any request for unlocking my mobile. I am calling SFR customer care every week to solve this problem, but there is no response from their side.
I'm buying a unlocked iPhone 4s from craigslist tomorrow. I just need to know how I can verify if it is unlocked. I have an old AT&T sim card I used to use for my iPhone 4. Not sure if that would work. I just want to make sure it isn't sprint, or verizon with a bad ESN or something. I just want to make sure I can use the phone.
First let me start by saying that I do know what I am doing I have a 3G which I have unlocked and take regularly with me to France when I come here for work and I just swap the ATT SIM with the SFR SIM and everything works. This time around I took a 3GS, that is from FR Orange that I have JB and unlocked and works with the ATT SIM in the US no problem. Except that when I got here in France this time around (without my 3 G ) I popped the SIM in and I get what you guys see in the screen shot, the network is found but the bars are horizontal so I get no reception at all. The SIM still works if I try it in another phone. I don't know if ATT still works on the phone since their signal is so spotty here and I just get no service with that SIM here -- I really don't see why it would have stopped working either.I have read every thread on what I think are similar issues but nothing works. I cannot redo the j/b unlock from here since the computer that I use to sync with is back home and I would be without all my music for the rest of the journey and my trip back home. Please let me know if someone has ideas.
My unlocked Iphone is not reading SIM. It was working perfectly. After downloading an upgrade to Itunes, it stopped reading SIM and shows invalid SIM. The SIM is working on another phone.
I recently exchanged an iphone 3gs from apple and I got a brand new unlocked one. The problem is that it's not working in Nepal. Over here in Uk it runs all the sims like vodafone, 3, orange....but it doesn't recognize any sims in Nepal. nepal is GSM based.
I've just got a new 4s network free direct from. Apple and want to tether it. I'm with a network provider down in Venezuela so no usage restrictions.
I've read that you can going into network settings personal hot spot my 5.1 doesnt have that option. I'd rather not jailbreak my phone then get a tether app as was whole point of buying an unlocked phone as travel a lot. Any one can help how n what I have to do to make this phone work. Thinking made bad design buying iPhone as nothing is simple like my old windows phone which connected to everything n didn't need hundreds of apps to make it work. iPhone sold me this network free phone but don't offer the facility for people same as me to use it how I want to.
How come I can't send mms on my unlocked 3GS iPhone? I have unlimited data and messaging but when I want to send a picture it doesn't give me the option.
I have an iPhone 2G (first iPhone) that was bought in 2007 locked to AT&T. I've recently had it unlocked by AT&T through iTunes. The problem is, it doesn't stay unlocked.1. With the iPhone unlocked, I was using a Meteor sim. Then I changed to an O2 sim. Immediately as I put in the O2 sim, the iPhone locked back up again and required reconnecting to iTunes to unlock again.2. A while later I wanted to use the internet. I went to settings and saw that wifi was off. So I turned it on. The iPhone immediately locked itself back up again, requiring it be reconnected to iTunes to unlock again.
I have a offical unlocked 4s bought from the Apple Store, does anyone know if I will have to change the apn settings when swaping out sim cards from Att to another carrier such as TIM network in Italy?
So my uncle has given me his iPhone 3GS, it was previously jailbroken and he has since had it unlocked. I restored the phone (as I don't want a jailbroken phone) but now it won't activate with my O2 SIM. When trying to activate over wifi it says the servers are temporily unavilable but when I try to activate through iTunes it says I need to insert a SIM card even though there is one already in there.
