Mar 21, 2010I live in Europe and my factory unlocked iPhone 3GS developed a fault, my wife is in the USA at the moment and has taken it to an Apple store who have swapped it for a new one but of course it will now be locked to AT&T.My question is can I unlock an iPhone before it is activated? Then once unlocked can I activate it using my local providers SIM or should I get my Wife to take it to AT&T for activation before she leaves USA in a couple of days time? Should I get an AT&T pay as you go sim card so that it it recognised by my iTunes? Also do you have to jailbreak before unlocking? I do not know which firmware version it will be but assume it will be 3.1.2 or 3.1.3 (I know there are issues with unlocking 3.1.3 at the moment but I can wait if necessary).

May 1, 2012My mum bought me an Iphone 4S in duty free in South Korea airport, she was told it was unlocked, however, when I tried to activate it with my Kazakhstan sim card, it said that I had to use sim card of certain providers. I've checked the model's number in the Internet (MD237C/A), and from what I've learnt my Iphone is supposed to be unlocked.

May 24, 2012I've recently moved from Orange to O2 and my iPhone 3GS doesn't recognise the new O2 SIM card. Orange told me that they would send me an unlock code from Apple a month ago. Talked to Orange today and they say I need to get it from O2 but O2 say that's not the case.

Oct 24, 2011When ever I try to unlock (dragging lock button from left to right) , I am unable to unlock in one go. It is taking multiple attemts to unlock my phone.I also observed that when I get to call, to cancel dragging the icon from right to left this is required multiple attempts.i.e many time dragging icon from right to left.
I don't know whether it is software problem or hardware. I have tried the repair operation also. my xperia neo is uptodate and running 2.3.4 os.I also tried to un install apps but I couldn't find any difference.Also once I unlock, those 5 screens, I can scroll inbetween and can touch home button. But when I long press on the screen to add widget/folder I am unable to do it as soon as I unlock phone. It is taking some time to respond.
As I purchased this phone in UK and using it in India, I am not sure how much service I can get in india from SE.I have bill for the mobile too.in other posts somebody told me to remove yahoo and i did the same but didn't find any difference.in short the touch scence is not responsive during unlock and for a while once get the home screen. I also installed andvance task killer app and killing apps frequently that also not making any help.

Apr 23, 2012I recieved a used iPhone 3G for my birthday in December, and today I tried to update to iOS 5.1. Everything on iTunes went smoothly, but when I tried to re-activate my phone, I get the message ''Could not activate iPhone. Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your phone to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a few minutes.''
So I waited for a few minutes and then tried again, after a few minutes, I got the exact same result. So i plugged my iPhone into iTunes and it told me there was no SIM card in my phone, but yes, there was a sim card in it. As far as I know my phone has been unlocked, but I read a lot of things about factory unlocks. If my phone was factory unlocked, how do I find out the original carrier?

May 27, 2012I recently bought a 2nd hand iPhone 3gs, updated it to the latest software but unbeknown to me, the guy I bought the iPhone from lied and said it was 02 when it was Vodaphone.
