I handed down my iPhone 4 and I synced it with the 3GS that it replaced, Everything is ready to go including all the old apps and wifi. Just no ATT service. I am wondering what step i missed to retain the cel service. (i did put in a brand new att sim card)

It sometimes works perfectly but then i try and press a button on the left hand side of the screen and it chooses the one at the right-hand side. This obviously makes everything very difficult! Any ideas as to why this might be/how I could repair it? I've tried the touch screen calibration about 10 times, it sorts it out for about a minute.I can send it to Nokia to replace but I could really do without sending my phone away

I've done everything I know to do (reset network settings, hard reset, software update, restore to factory default, replace sim card) still have not fully resolved the issue. It seems to work periodically at random, but only has 1 or 2 bars where I should normally have full service.
