My iPhone 4s has just started doing the same but I'm not overseas! :( first I thought maybe it was some battery hogging App I downloaded so I deleted the a bunch that coincided with drain issue... Still nothing , I was losing about 1% every min while using it even in standbye mode it dropped around 20% in 25 min plus it was getting quite hot in bottom right of phone! So I disabled data roaming and bam it's fine back to normal? but I need data roaming on when I leave wifi connection so this is very annoying. I reset network settings and phone settings drained battery fully did full overnight charge data roming was on by default and it seemed to be fixed. I wanted to test my emails do I turned data roaming off then back on 5 mins later, but then the phone started to heat up again and drain ! I think I will try reset one more time then leave data roaming on by default?
My iphone 4s are getting hot after i on date roaming and drain battery really fast.... I already update my iphone from 5.01 to 5.1, but it wont work...
I was working out today and I left the iPhone in my car. My car was in a parking garage with a little heat. When I returned, the phone had drained 60 percent battery and there was a yellow spot on the bottom right of the screen. The yellow spot quickly went away after a few minutes of usage, but it was definitely there.
Is this normal for a phone to behave like this if exposed to heat?
I'm running stock, straight of the box, no root. And yesterday for example I went from 100% to15% in 7 hours....and this is at work with my phone sat on my desk not being used.Settings is saying that Google services is killing the battery, that and Android OS.Google services has a 'Stay awake' of over 3hrs and 'Mobile radio active' of over 2hrs All other apps also have a high 'Mobile radio active'Is this a bug in 5.1.1?
Second issue: How hot does this phone get!?Any usage of more than a couple of minutes with the screen on and its warm, getting towards hot.Use the camera for example and it gets hot...borderline too hot to touchFor me the main issue is the crappy battery life.
Any time I get more than an hour from home my battery drains at 8-10% per hour even with no use. This is compared to 2-3% an hour with moderate use while not roaming. Anyone know why this is... or more importantly, how to stop it?
I was traveling in Germany and Italy, and I made sure to set "Data Services While Roaming" to "Off." However, I still did incur data roaming charges. They are really small-- like 15KB/day, but it's nonetheless annoying that my Blackberry Bold 9700 is using data even though I turned it off. I use AT&T. Does anyone know why?
I saw similar questions in the forum but none of them had a working answer and I tried all the different solutions and none of them worked. Also none of the other threads described the issue exactly as I am going to describe it below:When spending the entire day within WiFi signal or when disabling cellular data, my phone lasts for 16+ hours with at least 30% battery leftThis includes normal use of the phone - some browsing, some talking and some playingWhen out of WiFi signal and with cellular data enabled (i.e. phone is on 3G) without using the phone at all.
screen is locked the whole time, the phone heats up and battery is drained within 2 hoursLooking at CPU usage when the phone heats up shows that the only component using relatively a lot of CPU is "Android System" but always less than 50%Looking at the battery usage "Display" and "Phone Idle" are always on topThe interesting part is looking at data usage - On the instances that the phone was heating up while on 3G and not doing anything with it (no application is running and the phone is locked)"Contacts"application is always on top with about 1MB of data usage per hour and no other application is even close to itAs an experiment I removed all the accounts from my phone so that I have no contacts at all and no server to sync or try to sync the contacts with and the result was the same - phone heats up, battery drained and Contacts is on top of the data usageMy conclusions from this are that the reason for the battery drain is usage of 3G data and that the Contacts application is the one in charge of the data usage.
As what I wrote on the topic, may I know is it common for phone batteries to heat up during charging? I'm having a Nokia X2-00, BL-4C type battery. And another wonder that why do my phone charges it's battery when connected to the CPU via USB? Replies are much appreciated.
Going on a cruise next week that has GSM roaming on it. I plan to leave the phone off unless I need to check in with someone in US.I know that the voice rate will be $4.99 per minute, but how do I turn off the data portion of the phone to not rack up crazy roaming data charges. I do have unlimited international email but suspect the cruise ship does not count.
I have data roaming disabled but my phone (Nexus 5) is still using data when I'm roaming. The only way I've found to prevent this is to turn off cellular data entirely. Why this is happening? What I want is for my phone to use data when on my carrier's network but not when roaming.
Looks like ios4 has a bad bug. Data roaming can occur even when the option for DR is set to off.
First, my prob. Brand new iPhone 4 set up as new. On first arrival in foreign country, emails start to download, can surf safari, even though no wifi and DR set to off. Problem fixed by turning DR on and off again. Now DR blocked as required.
On a 3GS upgraded to ios4. Same initial probs as above butnpeob persists! Phone continues to download data in background! When safari activated, DR-off message appears but data still downloads. Only way to turn off the DR is to change APN settings.
I have an iPhone 4S with iOS 5.1.1 I ALWAYS have data roaming turned off as I travel a reasonable amount and don't want the charges. All automatic downloads are also turned off. On a recent holiday to France the phone the phone decided randomly to download my emails at 3pm one Friday afternoon (after we'd been there for almost a week) - this totalled around 3MB and cost me around £10.00 This was the only time the phone did any downloads (it was in my pocket not being used at the time) - so it appears as if randomly for around 10 minutes one wet Friday afternoon the phone decided to ignore the data roaming switch and download my emails (and apparently nothing else). I have read some real horror stories online about this kind of thing but nothing where it just pops on and off.As I travel a reasonable amount I can't afford for this to keep happening.
Im going to the US this summer for a long excursion, i intend to take a large amount of photos on my iphone, i just wondered if i 'places' still worked when 1.data roaming is turned off and 2. if airplane mode was on for obvious reasons i dont want to come back after 3 months and find that i have a phone bill of over a thousand pounds because i left data roaming on.
i want to know how can i disable All Data transfer and Data roaming on my E72 when i change of country?on my old blackberry , i had the option : Data disable : yes/no
so i check on user manuel that i can use Single mode on network parameter and put it only in GSM . But when i try to use the web or ovi the system ask my to connect my internet and it's work , but i'm always in GSM mode , so i suppose that GSM mode cannot the good option for disable ALL DATA TRAFFIC.
Got my new 9900 a couple of weeks ago, besides the horrible battery life, When roaming, the data transfer rate (on 3G or 2G) deteriorates to a halt. Takes several minutes to download a web page. It even looses its connectivity to BBM at times. None of these issues occur when I am at home country. I am wondering if anyone else experiences similar issue and if there is any solution to the problem. The primary reason to have a BB is for its always ON reliability which unfortunately have been lacking on the "NOT SO READY FOR PRIME TIME" 9900 device.
Since some 3-4 weeks I cannot send e-mail while roaming. In fact I cannot send data while roaming.Everything else is working fine, I receive messages on my device, I can receive calls and send txt messages. I cannot surf on the internet. Before I had no problem at all. It just started a few weeks ago. When I write a message and send it, it just stays in my mailbox with the clock icon next to it. When I abroad connect to Wifi, the messages are sent.
I use my phone all the time so I charge it everynight to ensure a full battery. However I don't want to hurt the overall lifespan of the battery. How often should I let it drain completely to guarantee a good life cycle?
Previous smart phones I owned turned wifi off when the screen went dead. So essentially wifi didn't really drain any battery and wifi was easier on the battery then 3g when actively pulling down data.
So now I am on a 2gb plan (previously on unlimited) and sensitive to this I keep my wifi on all the times to use my home connection when possible. My battery however is barely getting through a full day. My wife was getting solid days but she had wifi off.Do you think that this is effecting it? I use my phone quite a bit throughout the day.
I bought a 3GS running 3.1.3 from a friend of mine. Brought it home, used jailbreakme.com to jailbreak it and Cydia. Worked fine, put my Tmobile SIM in, made calls, downloaded apps, ect. Plugged it in overnight, got up this morning and took it off the charger at 100%. Leave it sitting and 5hrs later the battery is down to 30%! Wifi, 3g, push, ect ect are all off. Someone please help, I was so excited to get this working and now the battery doesn't even last half a day with no use!
My iPhone 4S had been working great, but after upgrading to 5.1.1 OS it is draining the battery by the afternoon every day without any or very little use. I rely on my phone for business and it can't even make it through a work day! It is draining about 4 times faster than normal. I found a post referencing to 'Reset All Settings' which I tried yesterday, but it still is draining fast. I tried resetting, rebooting, shutting down all apps, but nothing helps.
I've got a problem with my Curve 9300 while roaming. I don't want to allow data while roaming, as it's costs are too high, but if I switch off data the phone drops the mobile connection after about two minutes. With data switched on, the connection is normal and stays on.
My 8120 is dropping its data services when roaming outside UK. When I airrve in a new country (happened twice in Sweden) the service works then drops, edge and gprs in lower case and no amount of battery pulls, messages sent to register BIS or calls to service provider will not make any difference. I can link to 3 diffrent network providers in Sweden and cant get data with any of them. Calls to the service provider show their BB services are fine it seems like data roaming isnt working on my phone. How do I get this problem fixed as Orange seem to be unable to fix this.
Can the phone be untethered from my service and re connected to boot the thing back to life again, would that work? I appear to be not linked to my BIS service when roaming, whats the fix for this. My host routing table is empty
Data services "ON" When roaming "OFF" Mobile network active (on) Wifi on, set to preferred, connected
With the above setting, will the"data" like email work over Wifi if I am out of my service area (ie. roaming)??I know that if Data Services is set to off, the Wifi will not work, but if it is set to "ON" and when roaming is "OFF", will that also prevent Wifi from working? In other words, is the when roaming "OFF" only apply to the mobile network data (eg. 3G) or does it affect the wifi? Intuitively, off is off, but then I didn't write this code....and I'm not going overseas to test it?
