Huawei Nexus 6P :: WiFi Wakelock - Cannot Use Static Address
Nov 21, 2015
The WiFi wakelock only happens with my works WiFi (we use a BT Hotspot,) and I can't use a static address. I've disabled all WiFi and Bluetooth location scanning.

I have been experiencing unexplained battery drain with Android OS, Android System and Google Play Services in top 3 along with Screen. I need some app to detect which app/service is causing the Wakelocks so that I can take action. I cannot root due to restrictions on my corporate apps and they will stop working after root, which doesn't work. So I am looking for some app which can show wakelocks when I am not rooted. Previously on Nexus 5 I had used 'Wakelock Detector' app, which had ADB workaround to make the app work even if your are not rooted. But unfortunately after Marshmallow update it stopped working.

I noticed that recently in "Battery"'s "History details", "Awake" is pretty much solid all the time( I do _NOT_ have "root", How should I go about finding which app is keeping my phone awake? I did not install any new apps recently, however I do update my apps all the time..

Just noticed yesterday that my battery life has been pretty poor on my new Nexus 6P. It took me a while to narrow it down, but I finally noticed that Bluetooth appears to be keeping the phone awake.
Whenever Bluetooth is on, regardless of whether it's connected or paired to anything (I normally use Android Wear, but I completely unpaired all bluetooth devices on the phone), "Android OS" in the battery info screen appears to be stuck awake. Its "Keep awake" time grows continuously as long as Bluetooth is turned on.
I really can't be leaving Bluetooth turned off, and the phone is not really going to make it through the day like this.

First time rooter here, getting wakelock error message "failed to perform this task at the moment, please try again later"
I've tried removing it with system app remover and reinstalling it, still no dice.

I have a bluesleep wakelock stuck on 100%. It won't allow any deep sleep, always awake. It will stop only when I turn off Bluetooth all together. Bluetooth and wifi scanning are both off. I have a watch, even turning it off won't work. Also froze Android wear apps. No change.... Maybe something to do with missing kernel binaries?
Here are some better battery stats. Thurs is obviously after a fresh reboot, makes no difference really.

When traveling I need to make updates to a server. We block access to the server and only allow specific IP addresses access. This is helpful when I'm in my office which has a static IP but when I'm away and I connect with my iPhone as a wifi hotspot will my IP address be static or dynamic?
Info:
iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1.1

Still trying to get Splashtop Remote to work on my Xoom. They just sent me a link for a possible work around telling me to change from Dynamic IP address to Static, however i have no clue how to do this. Is this a setting i can access from the xoom or is it something i need to do at the PC/router?

I just received my Nexus 6p last night. It connected and ran just fine on my home network. I get to school this morning and I can not connect to the school wifi which uses 802.1x MSCHAPv2 authentication. My Computer and my friend's Note 4 next to me can connect with out issue.
I just tried to connect to our guest Wifi with the same problem. Instead of using MSCHAPv2 Auth, the guest WiFi uses a captive portal. I still can not obtain an IP address from either. It looks like it might be an incompatibility with the access point itself? This is really weird as 1 / 2 of the networks I have tried to connect to succeeded and one was a Asus router (my home). The access points I am having trouble with are Aerohive from what I read on them. I do not know what the controller specs are.

I've seen a few treads addressing Wifi Calling, but they typically seem to address it in combination with other features (VoLTE, Band 12, etc) and not specifically on MetroPCS (yes, it is T-Mobile). My question:
I have both a Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. I have provided my E911 address for both phones and I can get WiFi calling to work on the 5X but not on the 6P. Both phones are rooted with the "N" build and both have the original radio (from "D") flashed for band 12.

I have shut WiFi off the the settings pane and it still shows on in the battery monitor. I don't think it is using a lot of battery (hasn't shown up) but some of the stuff in the system shows WiFi usage when it is clearly shut off.

My Nexus 6P has the bootloader unlocked but is running completely stock, un-rooted, vanilla android (MDB08M). Project Fi is my carrier. When I am at home and on *most* wireless networks, I see no issue. While I am at work, my wifi constantly disconnects and reconnects. I will pick up my phone, and it will either A) not have wifi (though I have previously been connected) and quickly reconnects or B) Will have wifi, but after some amount of use, will disconnect from wifi, then reconnect a few seconds later.
I've tried all the simple items:Making sure "Keep wifi on during sleep" or whatever the setting is is turned on turn off optimization on Google Connectivity Services
I turned on verbose wifi logs and was able to catch a logcat of when the issue occured. The disconnect occured at almost exactly 9:29:00, as I saw my wifi go out and then almost immediately after the clock tick 9:29.
I can't find anything in particular that stands out as the cause or leads to a solution.
I assume it is some misunderstanding between my job's wireless network and my phone. My previous phone (Nexus 4) had none of these issues. I am unclear on whether this is a Marshmallow issue, Project Fi issue, or what software might be causing it. Since it only happens on this certain network, I am making the assumption it is most likely software and not a faulty wireless chip. I have no control over the wireless configuration of the network, so anything on that end is a non-starter.

Every so often my WiFi won't connect to my home router. Seems to happen after i leave for some time then come back home. I can see the network but cannot connect or turn off the WiFi. The only way for me to fix it short of a reboot is to turn on airplane mode turn off WiFi then turn off airplane nice. Otherwise the phone had been perfect. Stock non rooted.

My 6P won't connect to my school wifi network using dhcp. I can connect fine to my home network, but the phone gets suck on obtaining ip address for school.
If I manually assign a static ip, the phone connects fine to the school network. I'm running Resurrection Remix.

Just got the Nexus 6P , after years with Samsung note series... I was wondering , is there anyway in Nexus 6P to do screen mirroring over the wifi ? without any dongle?
I tried the Cast option , but it did not recognize my Sony tv which is connected to the same WIFI network, while the Samsung note had that "screen mirroring" option built in, is there anything equivalent in the Nexus?

Is there any way to connect an unrooted android phone to Chromecast without a WiFi? My phone will have an internet and it can use it's hotspot to connect to Chromecast. But, turns out, turning hotspot on will turn off the Wifi automatically. This seems to be a unsolvable problem?
Problem:I'm trying to connect my phone to a LCD display in my car. The car display has a video input. So, if I can connect Chromecast with a HDMI to video converter, then I can have my phone control that display. I don't necessarily have to use Chromecast, I can use whatever... like Amazon fire stick or something if those are better for this purpose.

So I received my Nexus 6P and yesterday I activated it on Project Fi. When I got to work today, I tried connecting to the same wifi point I always have, but when I try to connect it says "Connected, no Internet"I switched to Project Fi from T-Mobile, where I was using a Note 4 and I was able to connect and use the network yesterday on the N4 w/ T-Mo, but can't today with the 6P and Fi.

I was having Wifi issues on the 6P. Connected to home wifi but no internet. The thing is, the wifi would still work randomly. It's possible that it works most of the time but as soon as I go out somewhere and out of the home wifi range, it sometimes messes up when it tries to reconnect to the network.
And yes, I realize it may not be a phone issue but maybe the router (Asus N66U with Tomato firmware).edit - well, I spoke too soon and I guess it's not the static IP causing the wifi issues. It turns out it was a firewall app called AFWall

I was coming from Stock rooted, modified boot.img, superSU 2.52Beta, ElementalX Kernel.
Fastboot flashed 6.0.1 Radio, System, Vendor, rebooted to TWRP 2.7.82, flashed modified SuperSU 2.61 systemless.
Everything works fine. Band 12 works fine. WiFi calling is enabled, turned on, and set to preferred.
Phone status reads IWLAN and network disconnected. WiFi data works.
