I got a notification from the App Store that said there was an update for the Facebook Messenger app, so I tried to install it. When it was finished downloading, instead of installing it gave me an error message and then the app icon disappeared, leaving a blank space where it used to be. I thought I would be able to reinstall it from the App Store, but it tells me that the app is already installed. If I go to App Store > Updates > Purchased, it is on the list and has a button that says "Open" next to it which does nothing. I have tried restarting and resetting my phone, and I did a backup from iTunes, none of which has changed anything.

I suspect there may be a few 3rd party apps secretly installed in my iphone. Yesterday, I got one app keep prompting for one of my email password and even though I chose to cancel it, it insisted to prompt me and locked everything else out. I ended need to do a reboot. After reboot, the app never came back which make me even more suspicious. So, is there a way I can reset the iphone 4S to original state and I can re-install any app I want and not install the ones I no longer use?

The app I have problem with is Find My Friends. I updated my phone (iphone 4) just a week ago to the newest version. After the update, Find My Friends worked as usual. I tried this last night by holding my finger on the app until it jiggled then pushed the "x" in the corner. I was having issues getting my Itunes to recognize my Iphone 4s so I followed the apple support instructions here: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows and it said to delete the driver software (Step 2 of Reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Driver). After I did that I have been unable to get any of the steps that follow to work. Is there any place that I can download the Apple mobile device USB Driver software? I have tried numerous things including re-installing Itunes multiple times but this does not appear to reinstall the driver software.
