Today for the first time my n5, almost fully charged (95%) turned off and I was jot able to turn it on again for two hours. Then it turned on simply.
I'm on rooted 5.1.1 and Franco kernel....
My wifi has been off since i upgraded to M, clean install from the Google images. It still reports my wifi as on and using up my battery....

I noticed that after 6.0.1 wifi drains my battery when it's off and not even kept on during sleep (it's set on never). Wi-Fi frequency band is automatic though. Location is set on battery saving mode.
When I go to battery details the first thing to appear after charging the phone to the full is Wi-Fi to 1%. The time running increases little by little, no CPU usage and the computed power use also rises in mAh as time goes by.
I notice that when I do a full charge from a low battery once it hits 100% if I unplug the charger after i get 1% drain every 10 minutes in standby so I do a cache clean and reboot then it discharges normally after.
When I leave the phone plugged in lets say all night and it trickle charges for a few hours after being at 100% it will only discharge around 1% every hour on standby. Is there anything wrong?
I have had the phone about a month now been working fine until today, it wont even turn on. the battery was half full and it just turned off and now wont turn back on well it tries to it vibrates! and that's it.

It seems like all of a sudden my Nexus 5 has decided that whenever I have Bluetooth turned on that it is holding the device awake. Even when no devices are connected (connects to my car and a BT speaker).
I'm sure it didn't used to do this.
Because of the hold awake battery life is down compared to normal.
Then from GSAM:
You can see that BT sharing takes up a non-trivial amount of power. I'd like to get this thing back to normal.
Fully patched firmware, including today's Security patch.
I'm currently working around this by turning BT on only when I want to use it. That is difficult....
My N5 decided suddenly the other day to stop working. I held it, it turned off and on and then the boot animation just continued. I have googled and tried everything I can but it seems to go wrong someplace every time. I tried to wipe it from recovery mode but then it gave this as "error message".

"keep wifi on during sleep" is set to "only when plugged in" - it worked like a charm in lollipop (it switched off wifi after some seconds of disactivity), it doesn't now.
In lollipop after some seconds of inactivity wifi was turned off, that was proper behavior I guess... It is not working in Marshmallow.
I flashed a ROM, and I coundl't find my SIM Card.I did another flash/rom etc.. Nothing worked for a working SIM Card. I though I load my phone till hi charges up.And now, I turn my phone on. He goes on and than suddenly turned off.He doens't charge/load or anything. Nothing... I charge with a USB cable to my PC or to the wall. But no lights.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy Nexus 5 was working fine, and hasn't been dropped/damaged, but the screen has suddenly gone green and very faint. It still works but I can't figure out what the issue is. My guess is hardware?
When I say green and faint, I don't mean just a little bit, I mean a green/yellow hue all over the screen, and faint like someone has applied super high contrast in a photo editor.
Phone is stock, not rooted or modified in any way.
When i use LTE I get full bars and everything works fine for a couple of minutes. Then I lose connection. I can not open any webpages, update Twitter or anything else. The bars are full and the 4G icon is there. If I run a couple of apps like LTE Discovery or Network Signal Strength, they both show that I am connected with good quality. But nothing on the internet works. I have checked the APN. It is correct.
If I deactivate cellular data and switch it on again, I have connection for a few minutes again.
If I set it to 3G only, everything is working fine.
I have tested my sim in my wife's iPhone and it works fine, no connection drops.
The phone has been laying around for a while. I just started using it again, but I can not get what could cause this behavior.
I am on Android 6.0.1.
When using Hangouts to view a MMS text message which contains an image the image can be viewed full screen. The menu buttons disappear and that space is used for viewing more of the image. The Gallery and Photos apps do not do this. Both of those apps keep part of the screen reserved for the menu button bar. Any picture viewing app which will allow a full screen slideshow similar to the way Hangouts uses the full screen?
View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter rooting device (not my first time, but my first time with my nexus 6 which was a virgin) I tried installing a custom font. I downloaded it and tried installing "X" font and said my system storage was full. I tried clearing some stuff but failed. I thought it was an error so i downloaded a new app and failed too.
I verified if my phone was rooted and it is. Later I decided that I wasn't in need of a custom font so I left it at peace, but I remembered about Xposed framework and want it to install it just for the modules , but failed terribly after showing me a message that said "not enough storage space." Broke my heart. I unrooted and OEM locked my phone and re-rooted to no avail. Still the same ol' problem.
When in the root process, I remember while booting into custom recovery temporarily I saw this new message (I had never seen before) that said Something about the system partition to set it to read only for future OTA's processes and I left it untouched.
Also I checked on Titanium back up and other apps.
Cache: 256mb-------------- 13.4mb used, 242mb free---Good
System: 2GB ---------------------2GB used, about 300KB free---Bad
Data (userdata) 26.5Gb----2.5GB used, 24.1GB free---Good
Ram---- who cares. Its ok.
I want to have space to install Xposed, all these fonts and stuff. How can I free space or somehow to let my phone now there's more space or idk something.
I noticed that when I play video through you tube and the ones that I receive on whatsapp didn't utilize the full screen of the Nexus 6.
There is a lot of black dead space in the videos taking away the advantage of the big screen. I see these videos occupying the full space of the iPhone 6 and 6 plus

Yesterday I did an update to several programs including Google and noticed major battery drain. I was not sure which program did it but checked Battery in Settings and saw it was the screen causing the drain. Apparently when the Google program updated, it changed the setting for automatic brightness adjustment to ON. I turned it off and the battery is fine. I keep brightness set to about one quarter to one third brightness. I think the battery life is great and I can easily get thru the day.

I do have a android wear device synced but I always have and never noticed this is lollipop.

View 4 Replies View RelatedNexus 5, 16GB, MRA58N (stock, not rooted). Sometimes the power percentages shown for each process in the battery monitor do not add up to the total battery drain? I am finding that sometimes they add up to within 1% of the total shown.... and sometimes they are WAY off with as much as 30% of the displayed battery drain unaccounted for. Since I don''t have access to the battery terminals, I can't determine independently whether the percentages shown are simply inaccurate, or whether there are missing processes (ie., processes not shown at all in the battery monitor).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been getting pretty good battery life, but was wondering if I should be using 3G or LTE on the N5. I know the N5 has envelope tracking, but does that really work? I have looked around and there isn't much info about this. There is quite a bit of info for other phones, but almost nothing for the N5.
I usually get an LTE signal of one to two bars; around 98 to 110 dBm and 30 to 40 asu. 3G varies from two to four full bars; 85 to 100 dBm and around 10 asu. This is at my home on AT&T. I'm almost always connected to WiFi, though.Battery life has been pretty good. Usually around three to four hours of screen on time from 100% to 30%, with some standby time.
I have not had occasion to seek directions for travel using my Nexus 5 before. Today I needed directions and used Google Maps for no more than 5 minutes. The device became very hot. After I shut down the directions I looked at the battery information on the app battery notifier BT free. It said discharging, temp/health 118F/overheat. I was taken by surprise. Should I have expected that much heat from using Google Maps directions for such a short time?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI purchased a second hand nexus 5 to find out that the battery indicator is always showing 42% and never updates, regardless of the actual battery charge level. I tried replacing the battery with the one from my brother`s nexus 5, then replaced the usb port board. Also tried:
- rooting
- installing twrp 2.8.7.1
- elemenalX 6.0 kernel
- Android 6.0.1
- Cache and dalvik wipe
- Use the battery until phone shuts down
Although the indicator jumped to 83% and to 54% after some actions which I dont remember. Maybe after cache wipe, not sure.
I switched from Samsung. There is a function with Samsung customized version of Android that when I play video full screen and hit on/off button, the screen is locked but video keeps playing. That is a really useful function.
Any 3rd party app that can do the same?
I'm running stock 5.1.1, and even though my auto brightness is off my phone occasionally dims my display when it's on full brightness. It's not running particularly hot (37 degrees C according to my battery widget) so I don't know what's causing it to dim.

Things I've tried:
Installing a third party battery monitors like Gsam A complete drain, complete charge.
Replacing the Battery to a new one
Wipe to Factory / Wipe Cache
Install a brand new rom using fastboot
Install TWRP, Root
I have installed Android 6.0 few weeks ago. Since last week I have noticed some weird behaviour. While discharging, when the battery is about 40%, my Nexus 5 turns off immediately. Then, when I am trying to turn it on, I got a low battery warning and can't turn it on. When I connect it to the charger and turn it on, the battery indicator shows about 15-20%.Is my battery going to die? It looks normal, not swollen.
