Google Nexus 5 :: 6.0 Wireless Charging - No Wake Up Or Sounds Anymore
Oct 12, 2015
Found my first irritant with 6.0 and I have barely started to use it. When I take the phone off the wireless charger, it no longer wakes up... so I have to manually turn it on. I am positive before 6.0 it used to wake when I picked it up AND wake when I placed it on the charger Now it does neither. In addition, there is also no notification tone when it starts charging, so unless your wireless charger makes a sound, you will have NO IDEA that you placed the phone correctly or that it is charging. (And yes "charging sounds" is still set "on" in "other sounds").
On my Nexus 5 the wireless charging and NFC suddenly stopped working.. Everything worked properly until yesterday but suddenly my NFC tags have not been recognized and i just tried my wireless charging pad and it is also not working..
I expect a hardware problem because all the nfc-based apps are working if nfc is turned on and aren't working if nfc is turned off.. Is it a problem with the NFC/wireless charging pad or with the pcb? I guess i have to replace one of the parts but which - is there any way to find out which one? When i lay it onto the wireless charger the indication led of the charger doesn't change the color and also doesn't seem to recognize the phone, so i guess it's the charging pad which is located in the backcover?
Everything else is working properly.. Is there anything i can do about it or do i have to change any component?
Any way to disable the wireless charging sound without rooting or silencing all notifications? This is pretty annoying not being able to turn it off. The first notification when I place the phone on the charger I'm fine with. It's the ones throughout the night that wake me. I've read when it's up to charge and trickling back down, or getting hot and pausing charges is why this happens. The only solution I found is rooting, which I rather not do until Knox isn't tripped.
I will lock my phone or it will 'sleep' after30 seconds of inactivity, but randomly the screen will wake up. This happens a billion times a day and its annoying because then it calls people or it opens apps and I just want to know how to fix that I've already tried looking for something in settings but I've found nothing.
When I'm connected via Bluetooth and skip a song with the steering wheel controls it wakes the screen which causes increased battery drain. On Pandora the screen stays off to conserve battery. To me it doesn't make sense for the screen to come on when switching songs. As stated it increases battery consumption and you shouldn't be looking at your phone when driving anyway. I don't know if the same can be said with Bluetooth headphones as I don't have any to test with. People switch songs until they find one they like. If they like a song and don't know the artist then they could wake the screen to see the information at that point. To me this is a HUGE negative as phone manufacturers are making phones thinner and thinner thus reducing battery size. Not to mention upon switching songs it increases the chance of accidentally skipping another song since the controls come on the wake screen. I've tested this on wired headphones with controls and the screen doesn't wake so it only seems to be a Bluetooth issue.
So I have been using stock ROM or very close to for the past 6months or so and constantly have this issue despite clean wiping multiple times while moving from Lolipop to M preview to M. At first I thought it was my specific car but now is happening with the rental I have.i am new to Bluetooth so maybe normal but I don't think so. When I connect to my cars Bluetooth then make a call, after the call I get a constant "bluesleep" wake lock until I turn Bluetooth off. If I make a call during the day while driving then get out of the car when I get home, it keeps my phone awake all night unless I remember to turn blue tooth off.Ive noticed it only happens once I make a call or use the Bluetooth for something. If I just simply connect to my car, I don't get a wake lock.
Is this how Bluetooth is supposed to work? I can't imagine so but the fact I'm basically stock and have wiped many times and different android versions makes me think maybe it's just an android thing.
I have an issue on my Nexus 5 where the Google Now volume is low - barely audible through wireless earbuds (Plantronics BackBeat Go 2). I can be listening to something else (music or a podcast or a phone call) and the volume is fine. But when I issue a Google Now voice command (e.g. What time is it?) I can hardly hear the response. The Google Now response volume is OK without the earbuds attached.
I installed CM12 on my Nexus 5 two month ago and it works fine. But I have the problem that it doesn't react when I press the powerbutton to wake it up from deepsleep mode. Then I could only reboot it.
I changed the "network type" in the settings to "3G" because my provider only supports it and I thought it could solve my problem. But it also hangs up the phone anymore.... I adapted the settings of the phone in the following way:
- Installed "Apex Launcher" as the default one - Installed Klear Kat CM12 as Theme - Additional Apps are: Greenify and SD Maid
I just tried the following steps to fix the problem:
1 . Installed another Launcher instead of "Apex Launcher" ---> I had the problem anymore with the other Launcher
2. Installed Open Gapps "nano" instead of "micro" ---> it ran without any crashes of the phone for a period of time. But now I have the problem again....
3. I wiped "cache" and "dalvik cache" again in TWRP --> System was clean and ran for a while. But after a period of time the problam "came back"
When I'm at home in my Wifi I doesn't have any problems with the phone to wake it up from deepsleep. Lastly I installed CM13 and had done an Fullwipe before... But I've the problem anymore .... I've the feeling that the phone looses it's reception and then the Launcher hangs and can't get up of his own....
Having issues with their Nexus 5 not charging, or at the very least charging super slowly?
Mine has been plugged in for about 3 hours and only charged up about 10%. Could it be a teething issue (it's the first charge out of the box) or something worth contacting Google about?
For instance the typical "tic" touch sound sometimes sound like a "poc" sound or distorted, some other sounds like WhatsApp or Facebook sounds sometimes sound distorted as well or simply don't sound at all. Is it me or what?
I have a Nexus 6 running Android Marshmallow, though this was happening with Lollipop too. Randomly, my default ring tone, messenger notification, or gmail notification will change, either to no tone, or just a single repeating beep. When I check the settings, the selected sound ends up being a 5 digit number. For example, my messenger tone is now 53918, no sound plays. Annoyingly for messanger, it will change the notification for all my conversations to 53918. So even if I change the default, all active conversations keep the "number sound."
Is there any way to turn on notification sounds (for new text msg or email etc.) during phone calls?
I find myself constantly taking my phone away from my ear during calls to check if there are any new notifications since the sounds get muted during call and find this kind of annoying. Seems like this should be a standard option, no?
I've always been able to connect my phone to my PC with a USB cable and have a folder pop up which would allow me to transfer files but for some reason I can't anymore.
When I connect the USB, my PC makes a noise like when a device has been connected and my phone says "connected as a media device" but I still can't see the folder. The phone is set to connect as Media Device (MTP), not a Camera (PTP).
I recently bricked my Nexus 5 after attempting to load one kernel over another (I know now that what I did was stupid) and I'm now stuck in a bootloop. I believe I'm running on 5.1.1 and have no custom recovery anymore.
My Nexus 5 won't charge - the battery is showing a lightening strike *as though* it is charging, but when you go into the battery screen, it says "not charging".
When you first plug it in (if in the battery screen) it will go from "AC Charging" to "not charging" although nothing has changed.
I just updated my phone to android 5.1 and somehow my phone does not recognize my SIM card anymore. Previously, I was using 5.0.1 and had no problem what so ever with my SIM card. Is there something wrong with my phone or SIM card?
Basically, I have a Nexus 5 which has damage to the connection between the mainboard and USB/display daughterboard meaning no display or external connectivity. I don't cloud sync my photos and the last manual backup of the phone was in July. Since then I've been on holiday and my son has been born so some quite important events as you can imagine.
The phone still boots but with obviously no method of connectivity I've hit a brick wall. The only option I think I have is a wireless file transfer.
Just wondering if this is a bug or intentional? Whenever I have my headphones plugged in and I get a text notification (or any notification really) the noise plays through my headphones and through my speakers on my N5. Is this intentional and is there any way to stop this? I only want the noise coming through my headphones when they're plugged in.
I've a Nexus 5, stock rom 4.4.4, rooted. Since 3 or 4 days I have unwanted reboots. And today, my nexus powered off and didn't want to reboot.
Even I press the power button for a long time (more than a couple of minutes) , nothing happened. The only thing I got, is when the device is plugged on usb charger : the nexus boot on the google logo then switch off and boot again on the google logo then switch off again and again and again....
I can't access bootloader or recovery... If the device is bricked, I just want to recover my. Is the flash memory could be recovered?
Ever since the last hangouts update whenever I'm in a convo it no longer shows when the other participant is typing to me or when they are looking at the convo. Instead the profile pic that shows what they last read up to always shows gray like they don't have the convo open and when the person actually replies it just pops up with no typing notification. Same thing with my finance's nexus 4.
I can no longer expand the notifications in Hangouts to see that I have multiple messages from someone. I can only see the last one. It used to not be this way.
Is that I have a pair of Wireless Beats headphones. When I scan for Bluetooth devices on my N5 It can't find my headset. I used my Ipad to search for the headset and that picked it up fine. I could even pick up my Ipad Bluetooth using my N5.. (Also note; I have never connected my headset to N5 before)
What I have tried to fix the problem.
-Reset Bluetooth settings -Factory restore headset -Connected headset to another device perfectly -Changed the N5 Bluetooth name -Reboot on both devices -Changed WiFi off -Changed WiFi frequency -Tried various "Bluetooth Routing" apps
