I got a Blackberry Torch 9800. I have an issue with the slider (or I think this is the origin of my problem), my screen don't want to rotate in portrait mode and I can't have the virtual keyboard, even when the slider is closed. I have tried everything, from hard reboot to uninstall all my apps, wipe out my os and re install it.

I am on official 8.1 and just noticed today that my browser will not rotate into landscape mode. Actually it will rotate the first time it's used after restarting the phone but any time I use it after that it is stuck in portrait mode. This seems to be new as of today but not sure.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was using the full on screen keyboard and actually getting use to it, lot's of mistakes made but I was still going with the flow. I read a post yesterday that suggested switching to the Reduced Keyboard.
It made all the difference, I type a million times faster!!!! No need for the slider keyboard.I recommend to everyone out there, at least give it a shot and see the difference if you aren't already doing it.
My Blackberry 9800 Torch will no longer switch from portrait to landscape view in any application when I turn the unit on its side. It is stuck in portrait view. Very frustrating! This happened once before but corrected itself. Is there a setting that can changed? My carrier, Bell Mobility, was of no assistance. Just told me to return the unit for repair which would take 6 - 8 weeks.

This is especially frustrating since the portrait keyboard is difficulty for me to use. I have tried resets, battery pulls and most recently a security wipe. While the phone will work properly at first, the problem eventually recurs. I am assuming that I may have a faulty accelerometer. Is there a test that can confirm if this is the case?

And when I press the green accept button (in either mode), the ring tone stops and after a second or so, it starts to ring again. And obviously, during all this, I am not able to receive the call using the screen button.I know the simple solution is to use the physical green button at the bottom but would still like to resolve it. Is it a genuine problem with all bb storm 9520s? Is there a fix to this by changing accelerometer settings or something?

I am owner of a Blackberry 9800 Torch for about a year and now it does not startup. I turned the phone off last night and this morning it does not start up. I didn't make any changes to the phone so very strange. The behaviour is that when I take the battery out and it turns on, the load screen start but the little white line only starts a little (2mm line) and then it restarts and does the same thing and loop over and over again in this till battery runs out. I have tired to enter Safe mode by holding in the Escape bottom when the load screen starts or when the red light turn off but it does not enter Safe mode.

The app itself (screen showing available books) rotates fine, as does everything else. It's just that reading a book is locked in landscape mode.

My phone died yesterday and much to my horror I find that I cannot use safe mode as when I hold the escape key down the phone reboots before it comes up. So I have no way of restoring the backup as the desktop software will not connect to the phone while it is rebooting.

I cant find ANYTHING that says "mass storage mode" on or off. How do I turn it on???? I've have a Bold 9000 for a long time and am used to dropping it into my belt case or pouch and having it turn off and go into in-holster mode. When I put the Torch in my 9000 cases it doesn't seem to do anything. Did RIM remove the magnet sensor and no longer have an in-holster mode? Or is the sensor in a different place and it won't work with my Bold cases? Am I missing something? I don't like having to click the lock button on the top before dropping into the case.
