I am having trouble installing an update and am getting low memory warnings. I would like some help figuring out what I am missing or what I else I can do...I have a Blackberry Storm 9530
Aps Loaded
5.0 System software & core applications
BB application center
BB maps
BB messenger
[code]....
When I run the ap listing through the desktop software, total memory used (added up by me) is 66.1 MB plus 3693 KB. This is based on the memory that the ap listing says each application is taking up. So approx 70 mb total.Device says total ap memory is 124 mb. This means I should have about 54 mb available? Unless I'm missing something? But the device lists available ap memory as only 19 mb (immediately upon restart after battery pull)I have been unable to install the latest update (or rather the last one I have tried to update; maybe there has been more since, I don't know) because it says I need 33mb to do so.
Device memory - total space 879.2 mb; free space 864.5 mb
media card total space 7.3 gb
Device software version 5.0.0.328
What is taking up that extra ap memory and how do I make enough space to download the update?I did try downloading the update once, but it wouldn't let me finish... is it somehow possible that the update is taking up space without actually being fully installed? That would bring the numbers closer to what they should be - if 33mb is used by the update... if so, how do I delete that and start over? When I run the ap listing through the desktop software - the update is listed on the main ap listing, with a status of "available". And says it takes 33.8mb. It is listed again at the bottom under "application summary" - it is the only item listed there. Under the column for "pending action" it says "update".When I select/hilight an item from the main application listing, when I select "BB 5.0.0 core applications", the "update" is listed just below it, and they are hilighted together, not separate items. Although they do each have their own memory usage amounts (14.1mb for the core applications and 33.8mb for the update)Yes, I do sometimes forget to close out the correct way - but I also do frequent battery pulls - and the available memory info above was immediately after a battery pull...
as above. blackberry storm sorry if this is duplicated but i cant find anything when i search. I had this problem previously not sure what i did to fix it.
Bought an unlocked Storm 9530 yesterday and popped in my T-Mobile SIM card. I could text, but not place any calls. When I tried calling, I received a "No circuit/channel available". At the call screen I see a a phone number that isn't mine. After I gave up I turned off the phone for a while and let it charge. Upon booting up I got an error message and my SIM refused to work at all. It says SOS at the top right and even though my mobile network is on, it just doesn't do anything. I have the mode set to GSM/UMTS and 3G/2G. I can't even select a network manually. I get an error that says "Unable to acquire network."
I consistently only have 12MB of 256MB of free application memory. I read about other who have 20 or 30MB free and I do not see how they do it. My Strom boots with only 12MB free and the only apps that are running are Phone, Browser, home Screen, messages. How do I get more free application memory because I cannot add any apps to this storm.
ok so im runnin 5.0.0.328 on tmobile.. apps downloaded: twitter, facebook, googlemaps, player for Internet, patternlock lite, personal assistant, app world, bbm, memopad & tasks.
I recently got a new Storm and it came with the 5.0 software, however I have installed VERY few apps and I only have like 28 mb free. Is this because of the new software? Also when I uninstall an app it will DECREASE the memory, plus I seem to have a slight memory leak, lose about 1 mb every three hours or so, but it will go back up at random moments. I believe this is all being caused by the same problem. Just have no idea what it could be.
I have Storm 9530. My device internal memory only used 12.5MB from total 1GB available. However my device keep load slowly on certain point, and during that time when I checked the application memory was lower than 500KB.I have to remove the battery first before the device gain more application memory.
I looked at some of the other similar threads on this subject, but my question really didn't get answered. Okay, I am on a Storm 1 (9530) on Verizon on OS version 5.0.0.328. I currently have Application Memory total of 128.0MB, but only 3.8MB free. My device memory and Media card memory are both about 97% free. The apps I use are: BB App World and FB, and the 3rd party apps are: iBerry Slider v 5.1 (the theme I'm currently using), Documents to Go, MeterBerry, Slacker Radio, StormLock and The Weather Channel. The first theme I downloaded was Appleberry, but I got bored with it quickly and deleted it. There were a couple of other apps I had, but I deleted those, in the hopes that I'd have more memory (one was BerryWeather; can't remember the others). None of my current apps uses that much memory, as far as I can tell - and certainly not anything near the 128.0MB limit. Not sure when, even after cleaning out the cache, using Memory Cleaner and doing a battery pull via MeterBerry, the app memory listed is still so low. Could the theme be draining it all? When I upgraded the OS to 5, should I have shrunk it? I'm not really sure what that means, just saw that expression on the Boards.
My Storm was getting real slow. When I tried to do a backup via DM it kept getting hung up when it got to the Messenger files. So I deleted BBM, always figuring that I can install it again. I did not use BBM all that much anyways. Before I deleted Messenger I would boot at 29mb and it would quickly go down from there. Now I boot at 41mb and it has held steady. I guess I must have had a corrupt BBM file(s) that was messing with my BB. I don't know how big the BBM install is but I doubt it is 10MB.It's not the amount of memory that I boot with that bothers me it is how fast I have been losing it. If I booted at 20mb and it held there pretty steady it would not bother me. It is just the unstableness of the OS that is driving me batty. I haven't been able to load any 3rd party themes on my phone without it bleeding the memory dry in a matter of hours. Google Maps would be a fast drain in just a few minutes. Hopefully this will improve my phones performance in the long run.
I have a BBS 9530 and it has extremely low application device memory. I have removed everything (3rd party applications) and I still only have 7KB of memory available. I believe everything is being saved to my memory card and not my device memory. What steps can I take to increase the amount of application device memory? It looks like my phone is running 5.0.0.0.328.
I just want to know how to install apps on the internal memory of storm 9530. My internal memory has more than 800mb of free space and very low application memory space.
I've searched high and low for people posting about a similar experience, but after trying several different suggested methods, nothing seems to work.First off, I have a Napter-to-Go membership that I use exclusively on my Storm. This type of setup requires that I plug my Storm in and sync it to Napster every month or so in order to validate the DRM on each song. I noticed about a month ago that even after plugging my phone in and syncing that some files were not being validated (they won't play at all).
I was told that my best bet would be to reformat the card (specifically remove the music file) and start fresh.Unfortunately I've attempted doing this on several levels, including:
- Manually deleting every song via Napster (didn't work)
- Accessing JUST the memory card and attempting to delete the music folder AND after that failed (told me something about write protection) I attempted to reformat the entire card, which also failed.
- Using Blackberry Desktop Manager and attempting to delete said music via the Roxio program, which only froze after I attempted to access a listing of my music.
When I plug into my laptop it doesn't find the device memory in windows. Also, when I plug into media sync it doesn't find my blackberry. Desktop manager always find my blackberry and window always finds my media card. Does anyone know what to do about this?
When I have text conversations I seem to lose app memory faster resulting in the Storm becoming very sluggish and inoperable, only remedied by a battery pull. Is it the texting application that is the source of the memory leak or is the leak somewhere else only sped up with all the back and forth texting?
running OS 4.7.148 on Verizon
O yeah let me add also that it seems when I have BBM conversations as well app memory drains. Am I dealing with a memory leak or many memory leaks? Or is the phone just underpowered for all this?
Ever since I installed Verizon's official OS 5.0.0.328 on the S1, my app memory from a restart has slowly dwindled. When it started to boot up with about 28 megs, I started to delete apps. At this point, I boot up with about 17 megs without adding any new apps or themes. I have insurance, but can also wait for wait until more details are listed on either a Nexus or Iphone is released on Verizon in a few months.Wipe and reinstall? New phone?
After my Storm is on sleep mode for awhile i press the screen to wake it up and a screen comes on with all of my applications listed. it says "The application memory available on your device is low. In the list below, select applications to delete."this has popped up a few times. i use ALL of my apps on a daily basis and my Storm hasn't been acting up so i think i'm good.anyone else having this issue pop up on their Storms? any fixes?
I wish there was an easy way for me to portray the amount of disdain I have for my Storm at this time, however, that won't do me any good!I'm just looking to get some insight to my problem and whether or not it can be resolved! It would be really unfortunate if I had to replace my lump of a phone as I am a college student that just moved away from home and am in the middle of my two-year contract. My phone is still in operating order minus the faulty touchscreen, it still receives messages, emails, and even phone calls. All the side buttons work, in short, the screen is just dead.I did not drop it nor spill any liquids on it and I've performed a plethora of battery pulls. I'm at a loss!Let me describe the events that occurred before (seemingly) death of my touchscreen. I was at a friends house preparing for a 9/11 5k race when I noticed my battery was running low so I left it in a safe place to quietly run out of steam because I had no need to carry a phone during a race. At this point it was still fully functional. After the race, I check my phone to see if it was out of power yet which it was. I get home later that night and charge it only to rudely surprised by an inoperable screen. I cleaned the screen and did a few battery pulls afterwards in hopes it was only a minor problem to no avail.
A little hardware information that may be of use:
Verizon Carrier
OS .328
I was also in a moderate car crash the day prior so perhaps that may have caused some problems? Externally, my phone is in mint condition. I suppose this just hasn't been my week!
in d past few months, i've had to charge my battery using a desktop charger. I've tried using my wall charger. I've tried using my wall charger and usb but it doesn't work. I even changed my charger thinking it had a fault. Now the thing is, when I plug my phone, the lightning bolt appears indicating dat its charging and den it goes of after about 2 minutes. I've tried unplugging and replugging several times and even done the battery pull a couple of times all to no avail. i thought it mite be dat der was something wrong with the charging port but whenever i plug it to my computer to transfer songs in mass storage mode,it works just fine. And I do everything i want to do without a hitch. please what else can i do?
BB is v5.0.0.328?I bought a "used" Blackberry Storm 9530 off of someone for $100. The phone wasn't unlocked, so I went ahead and got it unlocked. Now that I have my vodafone SIM in there, I am able to call my friends, receive calls, and receive texts. However when I send texts they are never received by my friends even though they show a check. Before I upgraded to v5.0, I would get a red x next to the message as soon as I tried to click send, and next to the persons name/number it would say "unidentified subscriber".I tried calling Verizon Customer Service, but they said as soon as I had unlocked the phone they have nothing to do with it anymore.
I got a Blackberry Storm 9530 with Telus Mobility Canada and I am not able to unlock it. The provider said that it is a technology for Internation Roaming Card but can also accept SIM card. The problem is that on the net it says that it is SIM card technology and I saw some people unlock there Blackberry Storm. I have got a Internation Roaming Card in my blackberry storm. Can someone explain me why I have a BB Storm that can ONLY accept SIM card without using SIM card technology while everyone else in North America can unlock their phones?
I have purchase BB 9530 via online from Today Retail Network Pvt Ltd New Delhi 110068 India.in March 2011 From very beginning the phone have a start up problem . But fm last few months I could not even switch on the phone Neither the company from where I have purchased the phone nor the Blackberry authorised service centre in Kolkata (West Bengal, India) are accepting my calls.
My Storm is running all of the latest official software and when I connect it to my Windows 7 PC it shows and error for a fraction of a second and reboots. If left connected via USB it continually crashes until disconnected. It previously connected without issue on my current computer. Has anyone had this issue and what fixed it?
I've had this storm for a while now, since like Jan of last year. Its given me my headaches, and little things with using too much memory with their apps...sucks lol.
But the latest issue is with charging. I noticed sometimes the bolt comes up saying that its getting power, and sometimes it will just staylike that, but will loose power, or if i wiggle it the right way it will stay charging.
If not then sometimes it wont get a charge even though its plugged in! Is it the charger, or the phone port? Becuase I am charging it through my computer, although super slow, it doesnt have the same issues as my wall charger by my bed!
My friend is over my house and he has a Storm 1. He's in from out of town. I was showing my Storm 2 to him and he was complaining how his Storm 1 is so slow. I asked him if he ever updated his software and he said no. I checked it on the device under "about" and it is the old software. Can we preform and over the air update to get him current?
Can someone please explaine to me how i can update my storm 9530?does my phone lock if i update to last version of software (please be sure when you answer me on this question) ? how do i know does my storm now running on leaked or official software? because i think that my full qwerty looks little bit different than others? And last questions is those it metter on which software (leaked or official) is my storm unlocked? (because if he is unlocked on leaked version does he lock if i update to official version?)
today i tried to use my camera and i got an error message. Message told me that the camera was unable to open and to close any programs that are open before i try again. The only programs that are open are the necessary ones.
can anyone help me pls!i am trying to update my storm 1 from 4.7.0.181 to 5...425,but i can`t!it says that "no software update is required for your device"!
yesterday i set my storm on the dock to my computer, started up dm. an update on my core applications 5.0 was available so i proceeded with the update. now all of those pushed icons for bing, my verizon, Internet, etc. keep popping up without a reboot! anyone else come across this?before the update i would remove these icons in my service books and they wouldn't pop up until after a reboot. since this latest update the icons pop up every half hour or so. very annoying to say in the least!
i apologize, i know this has been discussed already but this is getting so ridiculous! verizon keeps telling me "there's nothing they can do".is there a way to go back and "un-do" this update? i know we can't permanently delete these pushed icons, only hide them.
