BB (RIM) :: Using WiFi Without Using My Data + Getting Calls / Texts?
Apr 8, 2010
I'm off to the US tomorrow and the 9700 is the first phone i've had with WiFi.I want to connect to hotspots without using my data plan BUT still being able to get calls and texts.I know you have to change your browser to "hotspot browser" under general options, but will this 100% make sure I'm not using my data plan? All the tutorials online seem to suggest I should turn off the "mobile network" just to be sure, but then I cant get calls or texts. Can anyone confirm that using hotspot browser 100% I won't use my data?
So basically I went away for 4 weeks, came back, switched on my phone and now BOOM it won't call anyone, it won't use 3G or anything or even make texts.
Here's some useful information:
- I'm picking up signal, and can receive texts etc.
- when I try and call someone, it says 'you cannot make outgoing calls while call barring is on' (even though I've checked in settings and it isn't).
- I'm on o2 in the UK
- I've checked my status, and it says 'Mobile Network State' is 'Disconnected'.
- It's running 2.3.3
- I've got the Network Mode on Auto (as it always was when the phone actually worked), and also I haven't been playing around with the APNs or anything like that.
- I bought the phone legit from Carphone warehouse a few months ago, and it worked mostly fine up until I switched it back on yesterday. I'd had a few problems with non-wifi internet before I left last month, but nothing affecting making calls etc.
when I make a call it immediately says "call ended/closed" and when I enter *110# I get this message: Connections problems or invalid MMI-code.When I restart my phone, maybe repeting that process like 10 times then I can send/recieve calls/texts, but only for a brief moment. Before it wasn't as bad... I always got the Connection problem message after a I've made a phone call. But now it is bugging me 24/7.I have resetted my phone, I've even upgraded it. Still nothing.I have changed network operator. Still nothing.I have inserted my phone card into another phone and with that phone I have no problems. So I suspect it most be my phone's fault. I have a Xperia x10.
I haqve just moved to Tenerife and got a movistar sim. I can receive calls and texts but cant send texts. I have tried to resend the service books but it wont allow me saying "your device had a problem connecting to the server". When i try send a text it says "requested facility not implented". What do I do?
So I received the new Fi Sim card as the one in my nexus 6 wasnt compatible with the Nexus 6p. Went through the activation etc and I receive calls on wifi but not make calls on wifi or cellular, data is brutally slow. Waiting to hear back from Google on this.
Befor the problem started i could text and call my friend without a problem, but now when i text him he doesnt get thim (i know its not a delay cause thy never come through) or my phone calls. so i called my carrier and they said the texts and calls have been comeing through there servers and are sent.
iv tryed restoring my phone and all the other things other sites have siad to do, when i start a chat with him it comes up as imessage like normal and i type the message and when i hit send and it siads it sends but the little delivery thing that appers at the bottom never comes up but it. but i cant text everyone els that imessage or just text they all get them so it seems its just him
There is something seriously wrong with my phone, I can call people and text people but I can't be called or texted except by my operator. I essentially have the worlds most expensive ipod touch, I have reset network settings. It is a 4S not that that makes a difference.
I need to track texts and calls on my daughter's phone. The primary concern is the time of texting. I don't want to disable it late at night because emergencies sometimes happen, but I want to know if she's texting after a certain time. Is there a way to set this up in the iphone or is there an app?
I recently bought a blackberry bold 9700 off my friend who was using it pay as you go. When I inserted sim all looked good, network appeared and internet worked, as well as BB messenger. However I then realised that it could not make/receive calls or send/receive txt messages. I then ran a diagnostics test and it showed:
{ Radio Data Activation: No Signal Level : Unknown Radio Access: Unknown Network: Unknown
I am currently on holiday in Thailand and some of the trip involves me travelling alone. Since I have been here I have no signal and cannot receive/make texts/calls. I was told by friends to turn off roaming when away in order to stop emails, facebook updates and the like coming through on my phone and therefore resulting in a large bill. I emailed my network provider Vodafone but they have responded by saying in order to receive/make texts/calls I have to have roaming switched on?! Is there any way of enabling texts/calls without having constant emails and facebook updates etc coming through? I don't understand why so many people would use Blackberry if you can't switch off these things and just use phone as standard like you can on all other makes of phone to my knowledge.
I recently switched my line to another family members blackberry bold as my navigator/cursor no longer worked. I have not received calls, nor texts, nor emails for last 30 hours from others and calls go straight to voice mail. I have removed battery and rebooted with no resolution.
I bought my Blackberry Curve 9360 brand new from a Vodafone shop about a month and a half ago and today when I woke up it wouldn't let me make/recieve calls or texts. i've rebooted it, taken the battery out and checked the mobile network connection and that i haven't blocked calls or put call fowarding on. Also in the top right hand corner the signal says full and 3G.
everytime i try and make a phone call it says "CALL FAILED please try again" and everytime i try and send a txt it has the red timer and keeps trying to resend till it says "retried exceded". Its drving me up the wall! i took it to the dealer and he said his was doing the same.
I can make calls and send texts but I am unable to receive them. Texts are coming through about 12 hrs later and calls go straight to answer machine. I don't get the notification that I have voicemail. I've reset the phone, taken the battery and sim card out but it still hasn't fixed the problem.
My blackberry and other blackberry phones who are used inside my house do not work but are fine outisde the building! Who should i ask about this problem to get it sorted?
I have restored my iPhone in both standard and DFU mode while setting up a new iPhone everytime still no luck. I have tried the sim card in another iPhone and the sim card works perfectly fine.
I have full bars, on t-mobile which the phone is locked to.
The mobile internet works absolutely fine. When i try ringing 150 it disconnects straight away saying "call ended" I have not tried another sim card in the phone.
I want to turn off phone calls/texts but still be able to use 3G and/or GPS on my iPhone 4S."use airplane mode" or "put it on silent". That won't work. When I'm running I'm using Nike+ GPS or Runkeeper. These apps use the 3G and GPS connection so Airplane mode is not an option. Airplane mode stops my GPS and 3G connection from working.
Putting my phone on silent does not help. It interrupts the music and vibrates in my pocket. If I turn off vibrate then my doesn't vibrate but it still interrupts the music. The music will fade out and the phone will "silently" be ringing until it goes to voicemail and then the music fade back in. Plus, if I get a text message then the phone will fade out the music for just a second and then back again even if I have it on silent mode. I don't want that. Its a disruption I would rather not have. I want to recieve no communications while I'm running but still be able to use my phone's GPS/3G connection for Nike+ and/or Runkeeper.
I need an option that just turns off phone calls and text messages temporaily while I'm running without turning off GPS and 3G. I wish Apple would add an option in settings to turn off Text Messaging and incoming Phone Calls seperatley from everything else. This could useful since we use our phones for so much more than talking these days.
My iPhone 4S is not sending or receiving text messages (iMessage is fine). It is also not sending or receiving any phone calls. I'm with Fido and there are always full bars/signal available. This happens for about 2-3 days, then starts working, then 2-3 weeks later it happens again.
I purchased an iPhone 4 refurbished for £119 from an OOW replacement and was told i would have a 90 day warranty. 14 days on, and I am having an error which says 'Unable to recieve calls and texts please restore' or something similar, and then the service goes. I have been on My Support Profile, and it says my warranty has expired, im not the best at maths but im ppretty sure my warranty is due to expire in roughly 76 days. However every time i have restored it has been via back up, is setting up as new Phone likely to fix the issue? I am very upset about this and want to know if the phone keeps faulting and I take the reciept i recieved via email after the service with me will they give me yet another replacement? PS I have restored 3 times now.
My iPhone 4 started to act up. I can't make or receive calls, and same thing with texts. I also can't connect to the internet. When this happens, my iPhone turns off & it won't turn back on unless I charge it. When it's back on, there's a message about a reset that tells me I should go to apple.com/support. Later, it goes back to normal and everything works. And again, it stops working. This has been repeating for a couple of days.
Last night, my iphone 4s stopped receiving calls and texts. Every thing else works fine. Reseting and rebooting have not helped. Turning off and on 3s has not helped, either.
blackberry has stopped letting me make calls or send texts and i cant receive them to, I have full signal and have spoken to o2 they tell me it a phone problem and the shop tells me it a o2 problem,,In the service status it saysmobile voice status: not availableConnection: not connectedBut everything else is working fine i can still get email ect
