View 14 RepliesI have two Blackberry 8330's here. One is a 8330 and the other is a 8330m. The 8330m receives MMS pictures embedded and the 8330 receives an SMS with a link to look at the picture online.I know this isn't new but I haven't been able to find any solution to this if there even is one.
One thing I found is that somewhere it was said that the two phones receive different types of Service books depending on the model.Now, maybe this is a stupid question but I am asking it anyways .Can I somehow copy the MMS service book from the 8330m and put in on my older 8330 ? If it's possible, will this fix the MMS as an SMS link problem ?
I wanted to know if the newest sprint 4.5 os would work perfect with my 8330m metro pcs blackberry? Has anyone tested it out with this phone.

I'm a new BB 8330m user (carrier is Sprint).I have an icon for Pocket Express (which came with the phone) on my screen that I can't remove. I have deleted it from the applications list and do not see it in the modules list but the icon still shows.I also have icons that have the "Hide" checked but are not really hidden. The icon looks as though it is transparent.
View 6 Replies View Relatedafter arguing with sprint for hours and trying to "legally" get PAM added to my account with no avail, i got tired of arguing and hung up and decided to see if i could get around it on a BB while still having a decent plan.well you can.
These instructions are at your own risk, and while i was able to do it to both a curve and a pearl, and im assuming since all BB's are about the same it should work on the tour and 8830, it's at your own risk.
I am not posting this from my normal username, as it's a little risky for me to do so so please know that i've had plenty of posts on here and been around since '04 Ok so here goes.Step 1: Install QPST 2.7 build 215 (this is very important, no other one will work, find it yourself )
Step 2: Obtain your MSL/SPC from Sprint (if you dont already have it)Step 3: Get your PowerVision Username (if you dont know it, you can do ##xxxxxx and press call from the homescreen x=msl/spc, it's the [URL] in the list)Step 4: Start BBDM and QPST Configuration at the same time, then once you add the port to QPST, selct "Service Programming" from the drop down menu.
Step 5: Select your phone in the list, dont worry it will act like it doesnt know the chipset model, select SURF6300 BB from the list and say OK
Step 6: go to the MIP tab Step 7: Create a new MIP profile that looks just like this (except in the NAI and Tethered NAI, you'll enter your PV username) -- once you're done you will have two profiles, the first one im assuming is for provisioning and i wouldnt mess with it.
Step 8: click "OK" then "write to phone", it will give an error about the model changing on com X, do you want to close the connection?, say NO it will write anyway, then you will get another error about the phone not responding.. that's because it rebooted.Step 9: once the phone reboots, create a manual DUN connection (i assume if you're on here and understand how to use PST you can make a DUN connection ) with the connection as follows:

For some reason many of the apps don't transfer and I cannot transfer the contacts - Using the backup I tried to restore the address book from the 8330 to the 8310 bu is showing this as read only - I am assuming this has do to with the fact the the sprint system is not GSm and does not store the contacts on the SIM card (no card exists).

It's in the neighborhood of 500 or so, so I obviously don't want to transfer them by hand individually. What is my best bet to get them from my lotus to my new blackberry? When I attach the USB cable to the BB the system tray does not pop up with a notification that says "found new hardware" like it normally does when you plug a BB in. When the phone boots up it displays error msg " JVM Error 513". I attempted to looking into the device by using "cracmem" and "JL_Cmder" and no data is to be found and thus there is nothing to wipe. I suspect that the device has already been wiped thus the no data. I have pulled the battery from the phone and reinstalled; unplugged the usb cable during the BB boot process and nothing is happening. The DM application loader will not allow me to procede due to computer not recognizing the BB device thus it is not generating the "USB:UNKNOWN".
View 7 Replies View RelatedI installed the BB desktop manager for Mac yesterday, and this morning connected to remove some apps, create some space, and install all the updates. In the process of this it mysteriously just stopped doing anything right after it said "database cannot be backed up" and shut off. Now it's flashing red twice, pausing for about 2 seconds, and repeating the flashing. I pulled the battery and sim even though I was sure that wouldn't do anything, plugged it back into my laptop, plugged it into the wall both with and without the battery, and nothing has changed. The desktop manager doesn't not recognize the device at all.
I'm using a Curve 8330. Is there anything I can do or am I screwed totally? Also, and I know this is a long shot, but what are the odds that I can restore the device and save the data that's on it?
I've had my 8330 Curve with Verizon since November 2008. Very happy with it. I also happen to still be using OS 4.3.0.127 (202), which is what the unit came loaded with. I never bothered upgrading because I would always hear of people having issues or DM only backing up your contacts and not your apps, lower music volume, etc. I don't really need Docs To Go, but HTML e-mail would be nice and the biggest thing is trying to improve these BBM delays I constantly get when trying to send a message. I'm thinking an upgrade to the latest BBM might help change that.
Of course, in order to do that, I need to upgrade to 4.5. So I've decided to do it, but not before I ask for feedback here. I've scanned dozens of other threads here, all with varying opinions. It's been long enough. Is it wise to do this and, if so, what is the latest OS for VZW (is it .138)? What risks am I really running here? Need a reality check on this.
I don't know if this is possible or not so I thought I would ask here, is it possible to alter the way the menu functions in the blackberry curve? in example, what I want to do is like when I send a sms text message and when I hit the trackball and the menu options come up, the send button is highlighted, and what I would like do is modify it so that the check spelling is highlighted first and then send button is right below it, is it possible to do this or is this an internal Blackberry Software modification?
