The trackpad on my Bold 9700 stopped working last night. It scrolled but would not register being pressed. Followign advice elsewhere on this site, I downloaded the desktop manager and backed up the device, then installed a new operating system (version 6).
Now nothing on the BB is working. It is stuck on the terms and conditions screen that starts "This handheld device includes software that it proprietary and confidential to Research In Motion Limited. . ." I can see there is a blue arrow at the bottom, implying I need to scroll down and accept the terms and conditions, but as none of the keyboard is responding, I can't do this.
I tried to upgrade the software on my 9900.It downloaded well. Once it started installing it, the 9900 froze at 3% backing up social feeds. It has been like this for hours. I have no use of my phone. how to unfreeze it.
I've been using my BB Bold 9700 for a long time now...have not had a single problem with it. Yesterday desktop manager suggested i upgrade from OS5 to 6...since i did this my phone refuses to start up, it goes no further than the blackberry loading screen. i suppose i need to downgrade back to OS5, but my phone wont even connect to my computer. tried hard booting, soft booting and resetting device, as well as using the "alt+shift+delete" and even double delete shortcut.
this morning I have attempted to upgrade the software on my new Bold, Nearly 6 hours later the phone is still showing 16% done and hasnt done anything since. If you turn the handset off it starts again with the same screen showing download in progress. No functions can be used at all, Tmobile ( provider ) are no use and i cant get any troubleshooting advice from the Blackberry website
It said I would not be able to use my phone for 2 hours if I did the upgrade so I clicked ok. Two hours passed and the upgrade was still at the 10 % backup process. I took my battery out to hope I could use it again but it starts up and own the exact same thing. Goes to 10% and freezes out.
Today, I signed up for Blackberry Email Service with T-Mobile. I got a message that an update was available, so I downloaded and installed it. However, when the Blackberry rebooted after the installation, (which seemed to take much longer than normal), the screen reads "Blackberry Platform 126.96.36.199" followed by a listing of all of the programs and apps on the Blackberry. There's also an error message that reads, "Uncaught Exception: java.lang.Null Pointer Exception". When I click "OK" there is another message reading, "Uncaught Exception:ApplicationRegistry.wait For(0xbfca09409ffe99e5) timeout. Then I get another reading, "Uncaught Exception:java.lang.Error" Every application on the list seems to have an error, and nothing will open. But I can't even shut the phone off. I have tried all of the four different reboot methods, but nothing seems to work.
I am wondering if I were to sync the Blackberry with the Blackberry Desktop Manager on my lpatop if it would reset the OS to the way it was before the update.
I am attempting to update the OS on my BB Bold 9700, as suggested by the BB Deskyop Sofware. The update started and seemed to be progressing but about 3/4 of the way through it is frozen at "Loading module"net_rim_speech_data_en_US.cod".
What should I do? The system warns "do not disconnect your device or stop this process as it could make your device unusable"
Later: I solved this problem by disconnecting the phone from the PC and downloading the OS6 package from the Blackberry.com/Downloads site, re-installing the Blackberry Deskop Sofware and re-starting the update process, this time with all power saving on the PC turned off.
I have had my BB Bold 9700 for about six months and love it for the most part.Just recently, the trackpad stopped being responsive as far as being able to move the selector bracket (cursor?) around to select an icon for a program or even move the cursor within any program. At first, waiting a little bit would help. Then turning it off and on with the red key worked. When that stopped working, I did a battery pull and it worked a few times. Then when that stopped working, I did a battery pull and held the escape key (the arrow that does the uturn right?) which I understand from the threads that I have read is BB safe mode. This did not help. Now it is frozen and I cannot get it unfrozen. The last thing I did was load a game (Final Fantasy), but I have been playing that for over a week with no problem then, out of the blue, this problem started yesterday.
I just got my BB Bold 9700 this afternoon (WOO!) It's working great but every time I go into my contacts the screen is stuck at "Copying to Contacts" with the bar filled about 3/4 of the way. Is this something that will eventually load fully and I just have wait for or should I look into this?
I tried searching similar topics but could not find relevant ones. everyone seems to have no issue with swapping out sim cards on their bolds. If there is a thread already open, i do apologize. I'm really frustrated and really need my blackberry to be up and running.
I have a Bold 9700, updated to the latest OS, everything works fine. I recently had some issues with my old sim card so I went to my service provider to change it to a new one (same number, same line, same contract, just a new sim card).
As is expected I was told that when my old sim is deactivated, simply insert my new one and I can use my phone as per normal.
However, when I did this, the phone was stuck at the loading screen (the entire bar is white) for eternity (maybe 5 minutes or so) before proceeding to the homescreen. There is no "verifying security" load bar, the phone is entirely frozen, no buttons work, the touch pad does not work, it shows 3G on the top right without the blackberry sign, there is no service provider name, and once in a while the small clock loading logo appears.
I pulled the battery a couple of times and the problem persists. I called the service provider to reactivate the new sim card, they did it 3 times, same problem. I inserted the sim card into other non-blackberry phones i have and it works on all other phones. When I put back my old deactivated sim card into the 9700, the phone starts up fine within 2 - 3 minutes, "verifying security" bar as per normal, everything moves, just no service connection. When i turn on the phone without a sim card it starts up fine as well with a message at the top saying insert sim card.
I even went down to the blackberry technical service department of my service provider and they were of no help. all they could say was "we have to wipe your phone and reload the software" which I am trying to avoid and I can do myself anyways.
My phone is unlocked, comes unlocked here in singapore, I even checked using the "MEPD" method, all disabled.
This has been very frustrating, especially when I need my blackberry for work. What is wrong with my phone? How can the simple replacement of a sim card be so difficult on a blackberry when it is problem free for ANY other phone I have ever used? I am now dreading when I have to travel abroad for business and require a foreign sim card.
My device downloaded an upgrade "successfully"--according to the message that flashed on the screen. Suddenly all applications disappeared from the screen and this message came up "Uncaught exception:Application Registry.wait For (0x5364ff2940fa3920)timeout" When I press "OK" another message pops up: "Uncaught exception:java.lang.NullPointerException" no matter how many time I press "OK" it sits there frozen. I have removed the battery, reloaded, etc. Nothing changes. I can't access any applications or settings features so I am unable to reset or uninstall, etc.
I have the 9700 Bold.I was listing to a visual voice mail when I received a call. After the call the visual voice mail message is locked.I can delete it but when I get a new visual voice mail the old one I deleted re appears along with the new one and both are locked. All of this occurs in the email app.I can go to the visual voice mail app. And it works as it should.I tried deleting all voice mails in both apps. but it dose not solve the problem once a new message is left.
When trying to Upgrade to Os 6 on my Bold 9700. @ the last part it gives me a messages "No actions are required." and does not upgrade my phone. My original carrier was At&t now I'm living in Colombia so I unlocked my phone and I currently have it with Movistar.. HELP!!! Please.. I tried re doing this upgrade 4 times already and same result.
I just got a BB Bold 9700 with OS5 and I was wondering if I upgraded to OS6. Can I do it on this phone?Does it run well?I just want to be sure to do it and that everything will work as well as it is doing now on OS5!
every couple of days, my year-and-a-half old phone fails to connect to the internet. Twitter, Facebook, and the Browser do not work, saying that I am unconnected to wifi, when I do have a connection. To solve this problem, I have been turning off the phone, and then pulling out the battery. This seems to work, it just seems tedious to keep doing so.Then I thought maybe I should upgrade the operating system. I can't seem to find this on the BB desktop manager.
I've had my phone since November and I'm not really sure which software I have on it, but I know its started "hanging" a lot. I will clear the log, pull the battery and all of that but it still hangs and it's started just dropping calls. Will upgrading the software take care of that? Also, how can I tell which software I already have and where do I find the update?
I just got mine, and its great. I cant get over 100+mb free space..and OS 188.8.131.520 tmo official is fine but I cant help myself and want to upgrade(lol). Whats the best build out for tmo? I wanted to put .405 att official on but I read a bunch of posts saying to stay away from that unless you are AT&T...I am not really sure why, I never heard of carrier specific builds...RIM makes the build and carriers call them official if they pass their tests.I do not want bugs...Im over that...gone through trying every single new build on my 9000, lololol.I want one with the best battery life possible and everything working.
So im using my new 9700 i just upgrade the OS to 5.0.405 but i have not upgraded the Blavkberry Mesnger. I am currently using ver. 4.7 but i do want to see what the new version 5.0 is like. when i click on the messenger i con i get the 'Updat Available:Get Link/Copy Link/cancel options. What im wondering is if i upgrade this way will it install a fresh install or will it simply add on to the existing version, i guess the concern here is if it will delete my contacts as well or will it preserve all my contacts. Ihave already created a back up but want to know other peoples experiences in upgrading.
I've had my fantastic new 9700 for about a week now and I love it! But This morning i find that everytime i go into BB Messenger I get a box that says 'Upgrade available' I click on the 'get link' box and go to the page it takes me to on explorer. There is a big grey button on the screen that say 'Download' but I can't click on it....... I hold the arow over it and click and nothing happens, I've tried zooming in and i've tried pressing enter.
My Blackberry Bold 9700 continues to lock up after installing the latest OS. Locking up is occurring on various screens. I am also getting an error when trying to get on facebook app 'uncaught exception : java.lang.NoClassDegFound Error
I currently have an SMS app called Crunchsms. Anyway, got a notification today that an upgrade was available (v2.8 > v2.9). Upgraded and it asked me to reboot, as per normal. Handset rebooted, put in my pin, and the home screen is frozen. Yet if I hold in the blackberry menu key, I can choose and select other destinations (i.e. WnW, Messages, Maps, etc).I can call my handset from another phone with no problems and can answer the calls ok.
I have been getting the little arrows in the top right corner of the phone, which leads me to believe the handset was downloading something, but its been like this for about 20 minutes now. Have rebooted again twice and have taken the battery out and replaced it, same end result.
Ever since upgrading to OS 6 about 2 weeks ago, my Bold 9700 loses memory at a rate of about 2 MB/hour. That means freezing and battery pulling twice a day. Today 3 times. There are no new apps since the upgrade.
