BB Bold 9700 :: No Handset Audio - Headset And Speaker Audio Works Fine
Jun 20, 2010
I have audio through the headset or speakerphone with no issue but none through the handset. Did a battery pull but that did not resolve the issue. I also just upgraded to Rogers OS 188.8.131.523 not sure if this is what caused the problem.
I'm having problems with the audio on my Bold 9700.It's turning off and on every second and there's a flashing headphone icon in the top left corner of the screen.I plugged headphones into the phone for a while yesterday - I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.It's really ridiculous that RIM doesn't have actual tech support people that customers can call.
I recently went to Verizon and had my storm2 replaced due to a crackle and distortion in the handset speaker. The new phone just yesterday developed the same problem.I am wondering if it is the result of getting debris into the speaker, and I would like to know if there is a way to clean it if so, as it is a pain in the *** to deal with the replacement thing.
Does the Motorola HS820 Bluetooth Audio Headset work with the Blackberry Bold 9700? It is not clear to me if only Blackberry bluetooth devices work with the Bold 9700, or any bluetooth device. With the Bold 9700 recognize to ask for the four digit code when first aligning it with the HS820?
If one were to listen to FM radio on one's Bionic (assuming this is legal. If it is against the rules, then note I would surely never do that!)....how do you plug in your earphones (needed as antenna) AND listen on the regular Bionic speakers? Is there a setting for this, or is it impossible to do?
This problem started recently. My bluetooth headset connects, and can trigger the call to be answered, but the iPhone doesn't use it as the audio source. In fact, the button that normally selects the sources, now shows only the speaker icon (and toggles speakerphone).
After updating to 5.1, it seemed to be fixed -- that same button again let me choose the audio source. That was yesterday, but today when I answered a call, it didn't go to the headset, and the source button again shows only the speaker icon.
The iPhone answers the call when I press the button on the headset. It's just not seeing any audio source.
I've powered on & off, not fixing the problem. I can't poinpoint the start of the trouble exactly -- it seemed to simply work one day and not work the next. I honestly don't remember if it coincided with updating to 5.01.

When I make a call and I want to turn on speakerphone I just usually press the speaker or "$" button. Now if I do it just gives me the headset icon not the speaker icon. This started to happen when I use my BB as my mp3 player using an ipod earphone.
And sometimes when I make or answer a call, the phone keeps switching from handset to headset icons nonstop! I did a batt pull and it didn't help.
My Bold 9700 all of a sudden started rapidly switching from handset to headset which makes it impossible to make or receive a call since you can't hear. You can hear it doing the same thing even when you're typing in a phone number....is there a fix? I have tried battery pulls etc....
We are facing the problem from the Audio speaker and earpiece not working while calling. I need to removed the battery and put it again so i can used it again for calling. And after few hours aim facing again that problem( audio). My phone 9900 running with the version.
I am having a lot of problems trying to get my blackberry to function properly. Yesterday, I was going for a walk and decided to plug in my headphones into my blackberry and listen to some music. It worked really well until I pulled the headphone jack out and now when I make a phone call, the phone switches from headset to handset over and over again. I have tried resetting it, pulling the battery, etc. but nothing has worked. How can I get this to work properly?
I have a 9700 Bold with ATT and the OS is v184.108.40.2065. Alright so a couple of weeks ago my blackberry has started developing an annoying problem. When in a call, most of the time (not all) it starts switching between the headset icon and the normal speaker. When this happens, you can hear the phone switch between the two through the speaker, and it makes it so i cant hear anyone and they cant hear me. I'm out of my 30 day warranty from ATT but i think im still well within the RIM warranty. I have admittidly dropped it, but this still shouldnt be happening. Nothing like this has happened to any other phone I have owned. Is there anything i can do to get some sort of replacement?
I just had trouble today with my torch, all of a sudden my incoming call audio does not work if it's handset mode but if it's in speaker mode I can hear the caller but audio transmit is not possible, the person at the other side cannot hear me when the phone is in speaker mode, i have to put into handset mode but in any case, there is obvious problem on the receiving/outgoing side.
I downloaded an episode of my favorite TV program so I can watch it on my BB while on the plane or waiting at the airport tomorrow but I just noticed that right from the getgo, the audio and video do not sync. I've found similar threads but they relate to the Bold 9000 and the Curve 8900. Is there a way to fix this?
When making or receiving voice calls via my network operator's service, no one can hear me, i.e my audio input. I can hear the person on the other end of the phone fine but they can't hear me whatsoever. However when I use the likes of viber, skype and facetime, my audio input is perfectly fine and the person on the other end of can hear me. Note both viber and skype calls work just fine and 2 way communication is audible regardless if I have a 3G or Wifi connection. Plus I have full signal bar strength when near a mobile tower so that eliminates antenna issues. Also have taken alternative turns to cover both the top mic and the bottom mic during a viber or skype call and my audio input can still be heard. I've done a reset, a hard reset of the phone and a reset of the network settings, still to no avail. Have updated iOS to the latest version 5.1.1.
I bought a 9700 two months ago, pay as you go Orange, a now I can make calls only with the handset plugged in. When I make calls, there is a sign upper left the screen which indicates to plug the headset. People can hear me but I can't hear them or barely with a "bip sound" which cut the line almost every second. Otherwise, with the headset it works perfectly well!.I did try to pull the battery while on but no recovery, I did a wipe (except for emails). Please note I do not receive emails anymore (I have a monthly contract with Orange for BB emails).

I am trying to figure out if there is a way I can enable audio at the device while the headphone jack is in use. The reason is, I am using my headphone jack to record the call to an external recorder. But I of course need to be able to hear the caller too. Is there a way?
Just activated my new Bold 9700 with Bell this morning. Everything works except for the email audio alerts.I'm quite frustrated with it as I have tried many solutions, hopefully a tech rep here can provide a method that I have not already tried.
When I receive an email, the LED light comes on, the red asterisk appears in the main message section but there is no audio alert. I have the profile set to normal, sonar ping as the audio choice and set to always on inside or out of holster. This all started after I tried syncing with the contacts of my old device, a Blackberry 8830 with Bell.
Here is a recap, in chronological order.
-9700 activated, voice calls work, classic phone ring tone works, went to BIS site, set up my two email accounts with Gmail and Yahoo. Received messages and email audio alerts.
-the problem started once I synced my old 8830, version 220.127.116.11 with desktop mgr and transferred the address book and BB msgr contacts to the 9700.
-the email audio alerts stopped working on both gmail and yahoo, still getting the emails though. Strange because when the audio alert worked, the red asterisk indicating a new email would appear on both the message section and the gmail/yahoo message section. With the audio alert not working, the red asterisk only appears in the message section.
-at this point, the 9700 is running on v18.104.22.168 something
-the sync also failed to transfer the 8830 address book phone numbers to the 9700. The names and email addresses were transferred but no phone numbers.
-changed the profiles by selecting a different audio alert, turned the wireless network off and on, removed the battery for 5 minutes and re-booted. Still didn't work.
-wiped the device, set up the email again, email audo alerts still not working.
- at this point, I returned to the dealer for help. They used their desktop manager to sync with my 8830. Their sync worked better as the phone numbers were able to transfer over. Again though, no email audio alerts.
-dealer spent 90 minutes, yes 90 minutes working on my device. He did the same methods I tried......twice. They wiped my device.....twice. Updated the service books, changed the normal profile to a alert tone other than sonar, still not working.
-store was closing so dealer suggested I remove the BIS email from the old 8830. Keep in mind my 8830 and 9700 have different mobile numbers on seperate accounts.
-return home and decided to do the opposite of the dealer's suggestion, I deleted the BIS email (through BIS site on my PC) on the 9700 instead of the 8830 and registered it again. It worked!!! Getting email audio alerts on both email accounts!!! Now sync it to desktop manager for back up, once I do it asks if I want to upgrade to v22.214.171.1243. I back up my profile and click ok.......bad idea. Once that happenned, the email audio alerts stopped working again.
-restored the back up data I just saved, email audiio alerts not working. Then removed and re-added the BIS emails again, plus updated new service books and audio alert options in normal profile.
-repeated battery removal, turning network off and on, no luck.
As of this moment, I have a 9700 with v126.96.36.1993, updated service books and two BIS emails (gmail and yahoo) that are still not giving email audio alerts. Is this a software issue or a defect within my own device? What can I do to correct this? It's imperative for me to reply to my BIS emails in a timely manner so the email audio alerts are a must for me.
Also, my 8830 was on a BES up until four weeks ago. Now it's on BIS only although one of the BES settings is still present and I haven't been able to remove it. I'm talking about the password security feature, the 8830 always asks for my pw to unlock it. Haven't been able to disable it from the security options screen.
Is it possible to go to a radio stations' web site and use their streaming audio or 'listen live' feature? I had no problems doing this with my last smart phone (Samsung). Apparently the BB platform doesn't support streaming audio. Why not is my question and is there an application to remedy this. This is my first BlackBerry and although I really like the phone.. the user interphase leaves a lot to be desired.
Every time Iam on phone it keeps switching between handset and headset auto and very fast so it keeps cutting every second I installed new bbm .65 everythink working fine then I mistakely downloaded .57 cancelled it when I rebooted phone no bbm, so I reinstalled .65 bbm and it was really laggy and slow so I reinstalled it again and now that is happening to my phone?
I just got myself the Bold 9700. Ive managed to load movies into it and they work fine except one minor glitch. Now the pic quality is brilliant and there is audio too but the only problem is that there is a few seconds delay between the audio or the dialogue and the actual scene. The audio is 1 or 2 seconds later than the actual scene. Also when i first loaded video files into the phone and i played the file for the first time i got an option "optimize screen for playback" Upon selecting this option the video got into full screen mode but now i just do not get this option and the videos r really very small so i'am using a software where i have to increase the resolution that fits into the screen.
Recently I have been getting a problem with my 9700 Blackberry. When I make or receive calls, I can not hear anything out of my handset. The person on the other line can hear fine (Usually with me going Hello Hello a million times!) The only time I can hear anything is when I have my bluetooth on or switching it to speakerphone.
I tried doing the soft reset (battery pull when the phone was still on) ...still nothing. Although it did work a couple of times. Its on and off, but recently the situation has gone from bad to worse.Anyone out there with the 9700 with the same issue? It's really annoying and I do use the phone a lot for important calls.
When I connect audio via my Bluetooth headset the volume, even on max, is low. Why? If I'm outside I can barely hear anything. It's pathetic. My old M7 was much louder. I rely on my headset whilst driving - it's an LG ToneHow can I fix this without rooting?
I've just gotten my N8 for a week now, and it's been working alright other than the speaker. The speaker was giving me some problems around the 3rd day where I would try to play a song and there would be no sound except occasional bursts of audio (There would be around 5 secs of silence, then 1 sec of audio). It seemed to improve after the 5th day. Today, the speaker suddenly stopped working and I was wondering why there was no ring tone when someone called me. I also realised that my alarm didn't play and only vibrated.
