IPhone 6 :: Messages App Draining Battery In The Background
Dec 6, 2014
I have an iphone 6 which is initially running fine, but after i restored it via itunes yesterday, the battery started draining really quickly due to the 'messages' app. Â
Before the restore, my iphone would drain about 3-4 % overnight, however yesterday night (after the restore) it drained over 20%. When I checked the battery usage in settiings, messages took up 66% of the battery usage, and it was labelled with 'background activity'. I have never seen this before the restore, and my background refresh is turned off. I did not use the messages app at all when i left it overnight.Â
I did a network settings reset, and also powered on/off the device but the problem does not go away. How do i stop the battery drain?
Yesterday, My battery indicator has a four level bars, I left my phone for 5 hours & when I returned to it I found it turned off !!I turned it on again & I found that the battery indicator has one level bar only !!This situation has happens to me 3 times before.I note that I did not open any applications in background or camera .. etc.
My phone and my husband S5 keeps coming up with message 32 or 50 apps running in background - draining battery. Then you optimize and half hour ago it is back doing the same.
So, I am having battery draining issues with the iPhone 4S just like I had with my iPad 2 (I am guessing that it has something to do with my operating system in both cases). I restored my iPad 2 and it is working fine, but since I bought my iPhone 4S through Verizon, if I restored it back to original settings, would I have to take it back to Verizon to do that?Or is there a better solution to the problem?
I've checked the usage status and it say 5 usage (only used about 3-4 hours) and 8 hours standby(Ive let it unattended on standby more than it shows). Is this normal? What is the averages usage and standby time?
My battrery has been running low quickly . For instance, I charged it yesterday and when it was done charging I made a phone call. I was on the phone for about 11/2 minutes. After I got off I looked at my battery and it was down 1/2 a brick. I've tried removing the battery for awhile, but it doesn't seem to help. I talk on it a lot through the day so I can understand it needing charged at night, but 1 minute off the charger and it's already losing power? I don't use the internet that much, but I do play games. The phone is about a month old. Any advice?
I took my iPhone4 into the Apple store so they can look at the battery issue I think I am having. Here is a screen shot of the performance of the battery before my visit.
They said the phone needed to be reset to a new phone because I initially choose to use the backup of my last iPhone when I initialized and there is probably a software problem which is draining your battery faster.
Me: Well, Ok. But can you please run a diagnostic on the phone before we reinitialize. Apple: No. There is noting wrong with the batter, this is a software problem. Me: Ok.
So this next screen shot is after using the phone after initializing as a factory reset.
I am not seeing any difference in the performance if anything it is a little worse.
Do you all think I have a problem or is this normal performance for the iPhone4 battery? Apples website claims the phone should be standby 300hours, internet, 10hours.
I haven't been doing any heavy use just normal internet use, some angry bird action and a couple video shots.
I recently upgraded to 5.1 on my AT&T 32GB iPhone 4S. I have noticed that my usage time since last charge, taken at 1% battery level from a full charge, is about 4 hours and 45 minutes of usage and about 9 hours and 15 minutes of standby time. Is anyone getting battery drain this quickly? I have followed all the battery saving tips from restricting Ping and iAds to getting rid of most notifications and removing a lot of location services except for Maps and Safari. I also adjusted brightness to auto and deselected the "Send usage logs to Apple."
Charged my iPhone 4 16GB Black unit at 7.50 a.m. The battery shows full 100% at 12.30 p.m. 30 minutes of music, 1 minute of safari browsing, & received couple of phone calls. After use my iPhone 4 for only this usage and just few hours of standby, at 7.00 p.m. on the same day my battery shows 45%. VERY WORST BATTERY AFTER UPGRADE TO iOS 5.1. Does anybody else who is iPhone 4 users face the same problem in their iPhone 4?
I charge my iphone at least 2 times in a day. I have an iphone 4s running 5.1 and I am so disappointed because my my battery keeps draining even if I am not using my iphone, seriously im thinking in replacing the battery. I charge my iphone to 100% 20min later without using it 80%.
I had my iPhone 4 32 Gb for 5 moths and I love it but I just installed the update 5.1.1 and the battery life drop in half. I used to be able to charge the phone every other day, now does not live to see the end of the day.
What could be a reason if my battery is draining out in 2 -3 hours from (fully)charging. I have all app. closed when this is happening. Also the phone gets very hot during charging occationally. As per the tech at the Apple store the battery seems good.
i have an iphone n there is a problem wiv my battrey that everytym i charge it it drains really fast!! n its really hard when we r out!! my phone is styll under warranty!
The battery on my iPhone 4s (OS 7.1.2) is draining rapidly.Â
After reading this forum, I have done all the necessary "tricks" to try and limit the battery draining, including: -Resetting all settings. -Rebooting the phone. -Putting the screen brightness down to half. -Stopping my emails pushing (now only fetch every hour). -Turning off Background App Refresh. -Only making iCloud back up Contacts, Calendars and Photos. Â
I have fully charged my phone and have nothing in the background, yet after 5 minutes my usage had upped by 2 minutes and my standby upped by 5 minutes.
I didn't do anything with the phone but 1 text message came through.Â
Sometimes my phone will go all the way down quite quickly to something like 30% but when I plug it in to charge, it shoots straight back up to what it was at.
Early I was flicking through Facebook, only reading status and watching a couple of short videos and my percentage shot down by like 40% in 5 odd minutes.
Facebook really drains the battery I think, along with watching short videos on Facebook.Â
My phone is less than 2 years old so its abit of a joke if I need a new battery already... I've been looking at the iPhone 6 when it comes out but this has put me right off.Â
i just bought an iPhone 5s 2 days ago, for some reason my battery is draining very quickly. I downloaded a game from the App Store that took most of my battery life away so I deleted that, but my battery is still draining very quickly. I also did a the lock screen/home button reset a few times but that didn't work either.
I have a Iphone 5s. The phone charges really slow, and dies really fast. I am barely on it now since this happen. I tried restoring at home, and also resetting. I took a trip to Apple two days ago, and they ran the diagnostic. He said the battery is healthy but something is wrong with the firmware or software. After he restored it but it still is doing the SAME thing.
