IPhone 5 :: How To Get Applications To List In Cellular Data
Aug 31, 2014
When I go into my cellular data my applications do list I only have two applications there FaceTime and passbook and when I go into my apps they say I can change to cellular data in settings and it still doesn't list the app how do I get my list of apps to appear? My cellular data is connected because I can use whatsapp and Facebook without wifi.
AT&T and iPhone data use charges - WiFi and cellular link options Many people have complained about unusual data usage charges on their AT&T iPhone bills -- often 10s of megabytes in one transaction, posted in the middle of the night. Here are a couple of updates based on the AT&T support portal: WiFi vs cellular link: Connecting to a local WiFi hotspot and turning off your cellular data connection will block cellular data transmission and related charges. (Except for SMS messages, which are very small.) There are some gotchas, however: (a) If your iPhone goes 'to sleep' (the screen goes black), it will revert to the cellular data link, unless it is plugged into a charger. (b) Even if your iPhone is plugged into a charger, it will revert to a cellular data connection if the WiFi link drops, e.g. due to a momentary glitch with your internet provider or electric power supply, so.... (c) The only way to completely ensure that your iPhone will not revert to a cellular data connection is to turn it completely off. You (obviously) will not be able to receive calls, however.
Large data transactions in the middle of the night: Unusually large 'chunks' of data that are apparently sent around midnight are a related issue. You may think that you could avoid these mystery charges by making sure you have a WiFi connection running at night. A number of 'czars' on AT&T's site stated, however, that this is are simply an artifact of AT&T's billing system, which "aggregates" transactions that occur throughout the day into one summary charge, which is posted in the middle of the night. If this is accurate, the data connection(s) you use throughout the day will determine how large this 'summary' transaction will be.
Note: Our bill does not appear to square with AT&T's explanation. For example:
39 04/06/2012 09:36PM phone Data Transfer 7 KB 0.0040 04/06/2012 10:35PM phone Data Transfer 7 KB 0.0041 04/06/2012 10:41PM phone Data Transfer 369,759 KB 30.00
If all of the data from 6 April was 'rolled up' into the massive 369.8 megabyte transaction at 10:41pm, why are there two small transactions at 9:36pm and 10:35? We installed Onavo to try to get to the bottom of this;; I will post the results at the end of the current billing cycle.

I bought an iPhone 3GS off a guy on craigslist and it works great, no complaints. But every few minutes or so I get the alert saying that I "Cannot activate cellular data network - You are not subscribed to a cellular data service", and it's really annoying because it lights up my iPhone all the time and kills my battery. It's also really annoying - it comes up whenever I'm typing a message or playing a game; literally when I do ANYTHING on my phone. I do not have a data plan, but I have used 'unlockit.co.nz' to install a Fake APN to my iPhone to block data. Rogers has also given me a data block. This has been going on ever since I bought the phone, I thought installing a Fake APN would stop it but I guess not. I can't really restore since I have a lot of stuff on this iPhone already.. but if that's the only option then I will be forced to. I used to have an unlocked Fido 3G (about 2 months ago) without data and it never gave me this alert, do you think it has something to do with my 3GS being locked to Rogers?
This phone is a jailbroken iPhone 3GS (model MC143C) running version 3.1.3 (7E18) and locked to the "Rogers 5.0" network. If it helps the modem firmware is 05.12.01.if there are no real solutions, I still have 2 months left on my warranty. Would Apple fix it or give me a new one if I un-jailbreak it?
Still struggling to get to grips with my new iPhone 4S....Reading the User Guide it says "to turn Cellular Data off go to Settings/General/Network then turn Cellular Data off".The only problem with my phone is that "Cellular Data" does not appear in the Network screen. However "Mobile Data" does.is it the the same thing? For cost reasons I would like to be in control of when I use the internet and already I have inadvertantly incurred charges without being aware that I had gone on to the internet. Will selecting "Mobile Data" to "OFF" solve my problem.
what does this mean? i just got my iPhone 4 today and i was on the road (apple store is an hour drive from where i live) and i was texing my friends, had:
celluar data: OFF enable 3g: OFF data roaming: OFF
and i kept getting this response "turn on cellular data or use Wi-FI to access data" anyone know how to fix this? am i suppose to leave Cellular data on? i turned it off because i thought it would be wasting data. (got 200MB plan)
So I got my first ever iPhone and it's the iPhone 4. I have the 200mb plan and I plan to switch cellular data off most of the time if wifi is available to avoid overage. Thing is, with cellular data off, I can't do certain things (ex. Receive picture messages via the Messages app) unless I turn on cellular data. So as long as wifi is available, will my phone still use up cellular data even though it can get data off the wifi? Thanks. I apologize if I failed to look up any threads on a similar subject. I did a quck search but they weren't really what I was looking for.
when i turned OFF the cellular data network, i can't receive/sent message/make a calls...i do same on my iP4 before, but it doesn't have any problem like this..
My partner is in the US for the week. She has turned off Cellular Data in Settings → General → Network to avoid exorbitant data costs yet when I reply to her SMS messages my messages are sent as iMessages, which she can't now receive. She's also turned off iMessage in Settings → Messages but so far my messages still default to iMessages instead of SMS. She's having this problem with other people as well, no doubt because their iPhones keep trying to send her iMesssages.
I know that I can turn of iMessage on my phone and that lets me successfully send her SMSs but I wonder if there's something she can do at her end to make SMS the default for everyone who is trying to reply to her. I've also tried Settings → General → Reset Network Settings but it hasn't solved the problem.
my iPhone 4 has been lost/stolen and the phone is still ringing, but i always turn my cellular data off, is there any way to turn it back on without touching my iPhone so i can use 'findiphone'
My dad just bought an iPhone 4. If he turns off the cellular data option, can he still recieve iMessages from me sent from my iPad 2 that uses wifi? If he can recieve iMessages with cellular data turned off, is there any charge or data usage required?
I have some random iPhone application transferring tons of data from my phone, even when the phone is asleep. It appears to happen once per day, around 5-6pm and for example last night it 'sent' 75mb of data out. At a 200mb cap, this is pretty scary. How can I find out which app is doing this? AT&T was useless and suggested Apple was doing this. Even though all of our iphone updates are manual, and that would be a 'receive' not a send. It's an iPhone 4 running the latest operating system.
I used the internet normally, untik such a time that i decided to chance my network from zain to mobily (networks from KSA), however, i cannot chage the APN since it is missing. im rinning ai IOS 5.1.1 iphone 4S. how could i bring back the cellular data network? as far as i know i have that before (IOS 5) and im not sure if the update took it off or some other reason.
I have the iphone 4s and totally new to the whole thing..i want to download Whatsap Messenger using my Cellular Data..it keeps on asking for a 3 digit area code..cellphones doesnt have area code only landlines..which code should i put in there?

I just got an iPhone 3 because my android one stop working. I am not sure how to use my 3G connection because when I go on. Safari or Facebook it says you could not connected because you are not subscribed to a cellular network data. What do I do?
Cellular data service (Edge or 3G) does not work on my iphone 4S. I think the problem started when I upgraded to version 5.1.1.I can not browse web sites on safari, mail doesnt work, no applications that require data connection work like facebook, whatsapp. However everything works fine when I am connected to wifi.I have checked several times with my network service provider that the data package is enabled. So far I have tried:Slide on/off "Enable 3G"Slide on/off "Mobile Data"Reset network settings
I had a 3gs locked to Tele2/Sweden. I bought an unlock for using the phone to Tre. It worked fine when syncing with iTunes but the cellular data want work with Tre. Itunes said the phone now is unlocked but I´m blody ****** paying 30eur for nothing. An old Nokia 3120 is better.
My iphone 4S does not allow for me to use any cellular data for applications other than FaceTime and passbook. I have tried resetting the phone many times, turning cellular data on and off, shutting down the phone, and going back in. I always have the same problem.Â
