Sony Ericsson :: W890i - Latest PC Suite / Installing Drivers
Jan 4, 2009
I downloaded the latest PC suite for my W890i and ran it. When it comes to installing drivers it takes forever and the progress bar stays the same. It hasn't frozen it just the progress bar doesn't move. I am on Vista so does the software support Vista? Is there a good alternative to SE PC suite?
I would like your assistants very much if you don;t mind? the problem that i have is this: i have a SonyEricsson W890i, locked to o2 uk. the firmware is R1FA030. what is the Latest firmware for the W890i? how do i unlock and debrand/update the firmware on the W890i? what do i use? Wotanserver, davinciteam or totalgsm? which one is cheaper? I would appreciate a kind reply from you guys. please.
I downloaded and installed the latest opera mini on my w890i. it was working fine for the first couple of weeks then a got a situation. The situation is that whenever I start the application I always have to accept the license agreement and it never saves my settings. It always installs whenever I start this application.
I've searched google for drivers for k800 on XP 64 bit, but haven't found any. So, i've installed Sony's PC Suite. After installation have completed I connected my phone and the "found new hardware" wizard appeared, I let the wizard search the folder of PC Suite's installation, e.g "C:Program FilesSony EricssonSony Ericsson PC SuiteDrivers", there, windows have found the needed drivers.FYI, windows installs a few different hardware drivers for the phone (about 5), but when it's done, u can work with the phone perfectly.
I have a SE w810i and im having alot of difficulty installing the USB Drivers for it. i followed everything on 'step 7' on the tutorial, (davinciteam) and i cant get it working. I locate the file 'GGSEMC' and im not sure if it does anything, but windows tells me that its a 'Sony Ericsson Flash Driver' so i say OK and install it. I then go into my device manager and it doesn't say anything about a SEMC Driver, just USB Composite Device and USB Mass Storage Device (2x).I am very unsure on what to do, Ive tried it on two different computers, and the same thing. Any help will be appreciated.
After recently updating my W705 I cannot get the PC suite to recognize it. There seems to be a problem either with installing the drivers for the device or the device not being recognized because it "doesn't have a signature".?! It can be recognized and connects properly when in USB mode, which is strange, but it no longer has a 'phone mode' option, only a 'PC mode' option. The phone works fine by itself but I need to restore all my data to it. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software many times and checked my USB ports and cable. Any other ideas for me to try?
Recently I bought a new K800i. I upgraded the firmware to the most recent one: R8BA024 CID52. I been looking for a good guide that can show and explain in simple words how to change those drivers (To Peter's HiFi Ver2), but I just can't find any.
I know that I'm not the first one asking and I've already searched the site for answers but every single time I get directed to the same topics and sites. If someone would be nice enough to write step by step and maybe help others who'll seek the same answer as I am.
I was installing the latest software update on my new Satio tonight and didn't realise I had insufficient battery charge until midway through the update. The phone crashed before finishing the update and now doesn't seem to take a charge, I have taken out the battery, SIM card and memory card and put them all back in, and had the phone connected to the charger for over an hour, but I have no indication from the phone that it is charging and it won't boot up.†I tried running the update again but it failed again as well.†
I have been unable to install an update of the PC Suite because "Old cable drivers can not be removed".WinXP service pack 3.I cannot remove certain Nokia entries from the registry using Regedit.Nokia support have suggested I do a complete re-install of XP† which I dread doing because of the time it will take.Does anyone have any suggestions?
I have a w890i "lmao" and its giving me the worst time om my life, it almost always has a "Emergincy Call's Onley" display or "No Networks" its driveing me crazy i have to pysicaly go search for a network for this phone to find one, Where other phones normaly would have signal, and it displays 4 bars of signal and isnt the phone sepose to pickup signal automaticaly. I tryd every thing phone update to reinstall phone software and then again phone update but it always say's your phone already have the latest software.†
I think the W890i looks better than W880. They are very similar and almost in the same size, BUT still W890 looks better. With bigger screen and stronger key button may be one of the reason. And the bronze (brown) metallic casing may be one bigger reason afterall.
Unboxing photos attached for you to judge
Unboxed at Plemix office
Metallic back cover removed
W890i width comparison with W880i
W890i thickness comparison with W880i
W890i front design comparison with W880i. You can see the screen is bigger and the keys are bigger and stronger. Not as thin as the W880i keys.
W890i back design comparison with W880i. This time the back cover is all metal and with matched color.
I'm thinking about buying a new phone, but I can't really decide between these two phones. Mainly, I would use it as a music player, but as I know, w890i has a really crappy camera, so my main question is: How is the w890i's music quality compared to k850i's? Is it a way better?Because if not, I think I should buy the k850, it costs more only 30 euros.
I have HONG KONG VERSION W890i FW R1ED003 prg12027322_hong_kong camera version 3.3 video call version 3.6 also i have CHINA VERSION MOCHO BROWN W R1FA030 rg12027323_CHINA_AK camera version 3.4 video call version 3.7 ALL THIS WAS UPDATED ON THE SEUS PROGRAM FROM SE SITE.NOTE:The later version i have (R1FA030) has some fixes including when phone is in standby mode and then press any button to view clock the screen lights up for a split second and then normal. this has been fixed in this version.
1- In my w890i when i increase/reduce the volume or when i stop a song i hear a cracking sound this happens when i have megabass or bass in equlizer. i also notice these sounds when i have my headphone attached to the phone.
2. I also noticed that when i have equlizer set at normal i hear these cracking sound (krrr sound) when i start a song and stop it after 2-3 sec and when i increase/reduce the volume during the first 20-30 sec i hear krrr and after that it disappears.
What is the code for the w890i to disable USB charging? What is the code for that "special"l menu? I know that this subject was talked before but I can't find it and I really need to disable my phones USB charging mode to save the charging-cycles of the battery as I use the phone as a modem right now
I notice that the call volume is really low even when maxed out when i turn on the speaker.can hardly make out what they saying unless im in a quiet room.music on the speaker is not as loud as the k850i.this is suppose to be a walkman phone right? so why does the sound from speaker sounds low?
I recently bought a w890i locked to the Three network, and unlocked/debranded it using Omnius. I've done this before lots of times, so I know I didn't make a mistake. I have all the right drivers installed and I followed the instructions to the letter. However, when I finished, I noticed that I was getting an "invalid Sim" message. I tried unlocking it again but it didn't help - it said it was already unlocked. I checked the lock status using left, left and sure enough, it is unlocked. So just to rule out a problem with the sim, I tried a few different sims that I had lying around. The Three sim that came with the phone didn't work, and neither did the O2 or Vodafone sims that I tried. but an old Virgin Mobile sim worked perfectly. So what's the problem and how do I fix it. It's possible the problem was already there before I unlocked/debranded the phone but I never checked since I'm not on the Three network.I thought it might be a problem with the CDFS. I backed-up the TA and CDFS from another w890i as a precaution (like I say, this isn't my first time) but I never backed this one up beforehand believing that I could just use the TA and CDFS extracted from the earlier phone. However, now I've read that the CDFS is unique to each phone, so I'm wondering what I should do. What will happen if I try to restore the TA/CDFS from another phone? To be honest, I don't really understand anything about them.I've tried re-flashing the firmware, too. It didn't help. And there's nothing wrong with the firmware - I've used it before. I know I could get the original firmware back by uploading the old CDA and connecting to the SEUS, but would that really help at all?I'm a bit of a novice, in way over my head here.
My son has messed around with my phone and i am now unable to connect to the internet. Every time i attempt a connection i am prompted to choose a data account to use to connect. Regardless of which data account i pick (T-Mobile Internet, Picture message or SEMC GPRS) I recieve the message - Data account doesn't exist. Check your settings.I have attempted to download the settings using the Setup wizard with no success - could not download settings. try again from the settings menu. Please advise how i can correct this as i mainly use my mobile for browsing.†
MY w890i camera stopped functioning normally in June.† I didn't really need a camera so I just assumed I had goofed something up & didn't pay much attention to it.† Now my real camera is in the repair shop & I set about figuring out what I goofed with my camera phone and can find nothing.† I have it set to save to memory card.† there's a 2GB card in there that has very little space used on it (less than 500mb) but when I open the camera function and take a picture it does one of two things: a) makes the shutter noise indicating a picture was taken, then the screen turns gray, the word "saving" appears in the middle and then the screen goes back to the ability to take a picture or b) i hear the shutter noise indicating a picture was taken & then the screen goes back to the menu.† When the camera was working properly i would hear the shutter noise, get a gray screen with the word "saving" in the middle and then the picture would display on the screen until i pressed a button.† Anyway, I hooked it up to the computer & it downloaded an upgrade, that didn't help, I re-set factory defaults, that didn't help, and finally I plugged the phone into the SE PC Suite & ran "phone repair"† that too did not help.† I haven't seen any similar complaints on any of the forums I've checked so I'd like to get some advice on what to do.† Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
today I read mobile-review.com and gsmarena.com and both say the w890i walkman phone speaker ARE POOR. http://www.mobile-review.com/review/sonyericsson-w890i-en.shtml Impressions Despite having 40-chord polyphony onboard, the W890i breaks no new grounds in the way MP3 tunes sound, as compared to other Sony Ericsson branded devices. The overall volume of this phone is pretty average, although occasionally you might miss calls while on a busy street. Honestly, the W890i just doesnít deliver in terms of volume level at times, but we didnít expect it even to have this in the first place. Playing many mp3 tracks full-out, the loudspeaker starts creaking and crackling a bit, which is a tradeoff for the W890i being a svelte device. The vibrating alert is below average strength-wise, meaning that you might not feel it when the phone is in your outerwear. Thankfully, we never experienced any trouble with the handsetís reception quality. The W890i has a lot of things going for it Ė updated platform, HSDPA and EDGE connectivity, lightning fast interface and speedy3D applications. More importantly, not only does it trump its predecessor on these fronts, it also holds the upper hand against other A200-powered solutions that debuted earlier.
The handset is set to hit the shelves early in May at 400 Euro. Judging from the sales of the Sony Ericsson W880i, Nokia 6500 Classic, this price tag is quite adequate, so consumers will happily go for it. You can consider it as the good old W880i with its letdowns addressed, or as the W880iís successor, or a rival to the Nokia 6500. Regardless of what side you take, the W890i is a decent phone that doesnít disappoint on all fronts. It will do a great job as a secondary handset, especially if you need no bells and whistles, but rather a nice looking and well-designed gadget.http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_w890-review-201p3.php All the latest Sony Ericsson phones we've tested offer very good voice quality for both parties and W890 is no exception. The HSDPA enabled quad-band handset offers good signal reception but, surprisingly, ringing is neither loud nor balanced enough. The loudspeaker seems to do poorly at trebles and basses, too. The results of the loudspeaker test differ a bit from our subjective impression. The test ranked the W890 within the "Very Good" margin. Here is how the W890 ranks along some of the other handsets we've measured in our new speakerphone loudness test. More info on our test here.Speakerphone test Voice, dB Pink noise/ Music, dB Ringing phone, dB Overal score Sony Ericsson W890 69.6 78.2 72.7 Very good Sony Ericsson W910 77.5 70.7 82.7 Excellent Sony Ericsson K850 71.0 75.7 75.7 Very good LG KU990 Viewty 72.0 68.8 77.8 Good Samsung E250 71.9 64.7 69.8 Average Qtek 8500 65.7 65.7 66.2 Bellow average really i was going to buy it but now i am not because of its low speaker performance. dont be fooled by the design its the specification that count . I Have a Question why call it a walkman when the simplest thing " THE LOUD SPEAKER" are very poor ? Sony ericsson your killing the walkman phone meaning thats if they now what "walkman phone stands".
I have just got a new W890i which I am liking very much. I am wondering if it's possible to transfer my text messages from my old W810i to this phone. Has anyone had any experience of this or is anyone able to offer any advise? Sorry if this has been covered before, but I've been looking through these forums for a couple of hours and am starting to get a headache
Im trying to upload the pics from my camera to iphoto (apple mac). I plug the cable into the computer and the camera, and iphoto opens automatically. However, when i press 'import' it says that 'no camera is selected. I've tried to play around with it a little bit, but no matter how i change the USB status I can't seem to be able to transfer the pictures. I guess I could download another photoalbum feature online and only use that one for my camera pics, but I can't find any that I can download to my mac... and I might just experience the same problem again.
i have a software problem in w890i SE doesn't have a software upgrade for it .sometimes the speaker doesnt, sometime the phone shuts off .I'm thinking of replacing from sony ericsson to samsung .Se use to be number one now its economy phone SE doent care about its customers as much as its bussiness.
