Sony Ericsson :: W580i - After Reset Pictures Icons Folder Missing?
Oct 13, 2010
After we reseted my W580i phone today the folder Icons which was located in pictures is missing. As far as I remember it was there by default and I had used the pics with different faces for my contacts. Is there any possibility to get back these files?
sometimes while working suddenly the icons are missing and on checking any pic it says too large to display if i restart the phone this thing is solved but i cant do this everytime right so plz help me
My camera won't take any pictures. I click to take a picture makes the shutter noise and then just goes back to the menu and doesn't save the picture. I can take video perfectly fine but it isn't the quality of a regular still picture. I've downloaded and ran the Update Service and it hasn't done a thing to correct the issue of taking a picture.
I use the Finger use standby screen on my satio, but the standby icons are missing today. The only thing showing is the background picture and the clock. I have switched the satio off/on, removed battery and sim, still the same. have checked the settings of the finger use profile and it still shows all the shortcuts. If I choose a different profile everything in that profile shows on the home screen. Can anyone help please? Update - now when trying to view the shortcuts associated with the finger use profile I get message ' no editable shortcuts in selected theme;. Also when selecting other profiles now I have the same problem with the exception of the sony erricson profile, I tried to edit the shortcuts on that profile but they wont change.
My W580i is still functional but its case has a crack at the back. I have been to several authorized service centers of sony ericsson but they told me they don't have stock for such case. Can you please assist me on this matter...TY.
I bought a brand new W580i in jan 2010.i have faced a lot of problems with this phone and now its gone for replacement...the dealer told that he will give a another box piece which he will be getting from the distributors of sony ericsson.i have heard that the phone is not available anymore..is it true? how will they replace my phone then?
I need help desperately.my Sonyericsson w580i is not powered on. I lost my power button few days ago and I opened my back panel and tried to power on by using tooth stick by pressing small button. Somehow I broke that one too.Is there any other way to power on my device for few minutes only, I need to copy all contacts from phone to sim.
My W580i says that the battery is empty and shuts itself down within a minute of turning it on. But if I plug it into the charger it only charges for a minute and then says that the battery is full. Is this likely to be aproblem with the charger, the battery, or the chargin circuit in the phone? It is only a year-and-a-half old so I'd be surprised id it was the battery. We are a long way from any service centres or shops so I'm hoping someone will know the answer and maybe we can order the right part through the post. I have removed, cleaned and replaced the battery, the sim and the memory card, and it doesn't make any difference whether the sim and memory card are in or out.
I have lost my Sony Erricsson mobile model W580i, IEMI no. and bill photocopy has been submitted to Police deptt after an FIR has been lodged. If Police not reacting for tracking what should i do. will the company help in tracking mobile after knowing the FIR no and scaned copy of bill and other related documents?
I recently lost my phone and a friend gave me their old w580i. Somehow I may have deleted the connectivity tab under the settings menu. I cannot find any way to access my bluetooth for this phone. I ran the software update service and this did not fix the problem.
I've been using this phone for over a year. It has always been hit or miss when I try to connect using media manager anso I can load music files. The straight USB connection s very reliable so I know the cable and card are fine. Any suggestions on why media manager cannot see my phone?
Does anyone know if theres a way to turn off this annoying feature? I dont particularly want anyone near my phone to see who has messaged or the the first line of its content?
My step counter stopped worked a couple days ago. At first it acted like it was stuck and then started registering some but seemed like only half. Now it acts like it gets stuck at different times.
I have Sony Ericsson W580i. My cell phone circuit was damaged because of getting wet by car perfume. How to get solution for the same. If anybody have idea about getting circuit replacement and from where I can get it.
I am new to this community and I am here because of the problems I experienced with my W580i today and yesterday. Yesterday I finished setting up the phone's email client and got it working but then the trouble began. I went to my 'Inbox' and chose 'Send & receive' to download emails from the server and after few minutes I got the result -- 300 (if I recall) unread emails. 50 of them were displayed on the first page and all had yellow closed envelope tags. Now the problem was that actually all those emails had already been read using my laptop's email client but that's just the beginning. So, I read all those messages again (yes, I know I can mark them read one by one), which took some time.
But after that I still had 250 or so "unread" emails, so I chose 'View older' to get rid of all unread emails and obviously had to download all those messages, which takes about 5 minutes alone. Here's where it got really bad. I had noticed that it was possible to mark messages but when I hoped to mark all 50 messages together and 'Mark as read' I found out for my sadness that it is not possible to mark more than one message read. Thing is that group of marked marked messages can be marked for deletion but not marked as read. That meant I had to mark all 50 messages on the page as read one by one and that takes about 4 minutes when you do it fast. Now that's bad but it got much worse.
(Also a note that messages that were on 2nd and other pages weren't tagged with yellow envelope but grey one and I think they had to be downloaded again to open after clicking them, which different them from the yellow ones, which can be opened straight away. At least it seemed to be so.) So, I went on to next page (, which obviously meant I had to download all those messages) and marked those as read but soon I realised that messages marked as read on previous pages will automatically be unread again when you go to next pages (select 'View older'), which is obviously very annoying! Well, I am not the type who would give up, so I tried all kind of things like choosing 'Send & receive' again and starting from the last page of "unread" emails, which meant 6th page.
I had some luck with the latter as when I had marked last (page 6) 50 messages all read one by one and went on to 'View newer' (page 5), those messages had still remained read and number of unread messages had decreased by 50. So, I was quite hopeful and went on to next page ('View newer' again) and number of unread messages was 200 (wow) ! But after managing to deal with all those messages on the page and going on to next page number of unread messages had automatically gone up again. I was obviously rather sad now as my plan didn't work but still didn't give up. But fortunately/unfortunately my suffering was finished as I ran out of credit (I'm using pay as you go service), which is probably quite obvious after downloading pages with 50 emails many times.
Anyway, that's the worst thing that could happen to me as I had just topped up my mobile 2 days ago and I normally manage at least 2-3 months with one topping up! As I am poor at the moment I can't afford topping up again so soon either. Plus I have spent many hours on this annoying thing yesterday and today (because I had to repeat the steps I mentioned above, battery ran low etc.). Now, my first question is whether there is any way to avoid that kind of trouble and somehow get all messages read? My experience shows that it doesn't seem to be possible. Secondly, maybe just maybe only way would be to delete all those so-called unread emails? But then I would get them again when choosing 'Send & receive' to get new emails? Thirdly, I am so disappointed that I would like to get re-imbursed by Sony Ericsson but that's probably unthinkable as you didn't make me use the email client.
Can anyone help me with this prob? My phone wont turn on. I've tried it so many times to turn it on but still, it remains the same. Red light blinking. What does it means?
My Sony Ericsson W580i says "Another application is running. Close it, and then start the camera" when I try to use the camera. This started happening out of the blue and I have just used the update service and updated the phone software through my computer successfully but still get this message when I try to use the camera.
Up till a few months ago I regularly used TrackID on my Sony Ericson W580i to identify tracks on my local radio station (DJ's are USELESS they never say what the tracks are called!) But the last few months I keep getting the message 'Service Not Available' after the sound sample has been sent to wherever it goes. I understand the service itself is free, but in order to use the service you need to send the sound sample to get it analyzed and you have to pay a 'data transmission charge'. Has Sony discontinued the service? Or have they updated the Track ID system and I need to update my phone? Would save me having to text the DJ's for the track names.
I own a Sony Ericsson W580i and lately I am having problems with it.
The problem is as follows...
When I plugin the phone to charge it shows a red light and no matter how many hours I charge it the same thing happens. and when I try to switch on the phone it doesnt start.
Kindly let me know what could be a possible problem. As there is no SonyEricsson authorised service centre close to my place I showed the phone in a store and he said it might be a mother board problem.I dint leave the phone with that guy as I did not trust him. if it actually might be a mother board problem or is it jus a battery problem.I am planning to go to the service centre in a short while and want to get an idea as to what might possibly be wrong...
I have some troubles trying to transfer videos into my phone and I keep getting the error "Cannot read from source file.". I was able to transfer videos into my phone in the past without any problems until this started. Could it be something wrong with my USB or SD card?
I am the owner of a Sony EricksonE w580i which I am very happy with. However 2 days ago, out of the blue after sending a text I was faced with the message which I had never seen before. " REPLACE SIM OR WATCH DEMO" Despite playing the demo several times and taking out and replacing the sim several times, I was faced with the fact that my phone was locked. On replacing the sim I noticed that it was pushed into position by the battery itself, thats the way it had been set up by the Orange Shop. so it was like on a spring and the battery was pushing it into its working position. And this is the root of the problem. The sim card has to be pushed home until it clicks into position. I have small fingers and I still could not push it to its fully seated and clicked position with my fingers alone.eventually I managed to do it using the edge of a small screwdriver, but even then it took several tries before it clicked home. I believe this is a flawed design as it is not easy to do by any means. And yet using the battery to push the sim to the seated position is the way it was et up for me at point of purchase and this also gave adequate contact for me to get uninterrupted use for several months. But this is NOT correct, the Sim must be clicked and locked into position so it is no longer movable on the spring mechanism.Once it was clicked home - Hey presto ! like magic, everything worked perfectly, only had to reset the date. However, and quite worryingly, when I called the Sony Erickson help line befor I found the magic solution, I was advised that to overcome the locked system and to bypass the dreaded message, I needed to go to the Sony Erickson site, go to support and downloads then click on Update your product software/Update Service. My friendly support advisor said this would overcome the problem but the downside would be that I would lose all my memory ! I would have to start again, Calender, Tasks, Notes, Contacts. everything. This would have been a heavy price to pay, for a non solution ! Clearly the advice was a shot in the dark from the advisor ! I had already downloaded said updates as a matter of course 2 months ago so I was sceptical of solution that SE had suggested. No, this problem is mechanical/circuitry. NOT SOFTWARE !
The sim card is not locked home unless clicked, do not depend on battery pressure. Thus the phone when in "battery pressure mode" may have a circuit or a partial circuit, leaving the user at best to be in my situation to get several months of usage, and then kaputt ! as the circuit is lost and the phone thinks it needs re setting up. and it gives the message you can not get past. or the worst case of continual working /non working scenarios, which are linked to the partial contact and partial circuit.I think this may also be the route cause behind many other of the problems raised on this forum, ie; Phones turning off, or just a red light, or just a slight vibration, or phone behaving like it's dead, or phone locked etc.(from other posts it appears all the above issues are are further "encouraged" by a low battery charge) which seems to be a separate quality issue altogether. So at the end of this ramble - the tip is make absolutely sure the sim card is locked home, be patient, you may have to try many times, but it will click home if you use a tool to assist you, (fingers are not enough) and you may well just solve your problems too.Essentially I think the phone is a very good mid range phone and this design fault may be hugely tainting its performance /likability.If Sony Erickson are listening? they will correct / make easier the sim card clicking action, They will also instruct the help desk to give out the "clicking the SIM card home" advice.Rather than the totally useless - download software advice which will do nothing to create a good circuit, but will ensure lose all your information unless backed up somewhere. And while SE are at it they should also re work the battery life AND the cover panel removal. To get the back panel off is a nightmare and can lead to creating other damage as such excessive forces are required. Not good at all - BAD COVER DESIGN
