Sony Ericsson :: K800i - Phone Flashing Tutorial XS++
I have seen that flashing CID52 phones has been very often nowadays, but many people are asking how to flash their phones and there is no such tutorial around the forum, so I decided to put one. First of all I would like to tell the advantage (purpose) or meaning of flashing. Flashing the phone is procedure of putting new firmware (software) in the phone. There are many reasons to flash our phones. Firmware upgrade, solve software problems and bugs, convert our phones to some other model (most common is K800 to K810) and etc.
Flashing the firmware is done by changing the MAIN and the FS part of the firmware (while not touching the EROM and the GDFS) which makes the flashing easy procedure that can be done with the ordinal DCU60 USB cable (the cable you get with your sony ericsson phone). Once we know what flashing is, we can start preparing for the flashing procedure. To flash the phone means to change the MAIN and the FS part of the firmware, which means if you want to flash your phone with new one, you have to download it. Firmware and other stuff can be downloaded from here:
These pages are free and registration is easy and fast. First, download XS++ flashing program. When you download MAIN and FS files for flashing, you need to download finalization files for your new firmware. There are MAAANY finalization files (a.k.a custom files or custpacks and etc.) sorted by the phone's firmware CDA numbers. To download the right one for you, you have to check your phone CDA. CDA can be checked from the service menu (>*. When you have the flash drivers installed, you can run XS++. Before that, prepare you firmware files in one folder (I mean the MAIN and FS file unzipped in .mbn, .fbn format or whatever it is) to have them easy for accessing and navigation.
Turn off your phone. Remove the SIM card. Run XS++ and then press the "Connect button". Then connect the phone to your pc using the USB cable while the phone is turned off. When connecting the phone to pc, hold pressed the "c"button (on the phone) pressed down. This will connect your phone to XS++, where you can start flashing it. You will see folowing window: Press the flash radio button (As number 1 shows) if needed only. That will guide you to the flashing panel of XS++. Here you can select which firmware files you will use to flash your phone with. So check the FLASH MAIN and FLASH FILESYSTEM check boxes. Then press browse and locate MAIN and FS firmware files. When browsing from MAIN navigate and select the MAIN firmware file you have downloaded, and when browsing from FILESYSTEM, do tha same for the downloaded FS firmware file.
Then press the "Flash" button. Now you have to wait while your phone is being flashed. Once flashing is done, you will be prompted to unplug the phone. Then you can turn on the phone. You will get this error: "Configuration error, please contact network operator for information". This means that your phone is not finalized. Finalizing the phone is done by uploading a pack of files into predefined folder inside the phone's filesystem structure. That pack of files is called finalization files also knows as custom files, cestpacks and etc. Use XS++ to upload these files (you downloaded before) into this folder: tpa/preset/custom
Use the XS++'s FSX feature to upload these files. Here is a tutorial how to upload files to phone filesystem using XS++
You can ask here for more info if something is not clear. Hope this guide will help most of the people who are runing around the forum and asking the members for step by step flashing tutorial.

Sony Ericsson :: Patch Unlock DB2020 Tutorial
This tutorial (k790, k800, w580, & more) is not mine, it was made by pugsport over at sense.
DISCLAIMER: If this brick"s your phone DO NOT blame me. I take NO responsibility for actions taken here, neither does anyone else.
Tutorial credits go to pugsport. Originally Posted by pugsport.

SIMLockPatchGen 2 (free from http://simox.5gbfree.com)
First of all you need to create the unlock patch. Load up the software and then select the MAIN firmware you wish to make the unlock patch from (I presume that this can be any but I chose the K800_R8BA024_MAIN_GENERIC_WI_RED52.mbn), it should auto detect which phone it is for and the firmware version. Click on Make Patch and it should create a VKP file (this is located in VKP directory inside the directory SIMLockPatchGen 2 is installed to). Ok, now time to move on.
Load up the software and change the Phone Type to K800. In the big box on the right (Files area), click on Add and select the MAIN file and then do the same again and select the FS file (make sure this corresponds to the MAIN file you created the patch from in the previous step - NOT A DIFFERENT FIRMWARE FILE). Now, in the MISC files area, browse to the VKP file that was created before. Now click on the FLASH button. Connect the phone as per usual by taking out the SIM card, then the battery. Re-insert the battery and whilst holding down C button on the phone, connect it to the USB cable (other side of it should already be plugged into your computer). Flashing will begin. After a while, it will ask you to remove the cable, remove the battery, re-insert battery, click READY and then re-connect it to the USB cable whilst holding down the C button. Again, after another while, it will ask you about the script file, just click on the NO button to apply. After a couple of minutes, it will be completed and you can disconnect the phone from the USB cable.
Load up the software and click Connect. Remove the battery, re-insert battery, and then connect it to the USB cable whilst holding down the C button. Ignore Flash File System and Main Firmware. Instead, click on the third box (Customize File System). Select phone model to K800. Then select CDA and Region (you can look on the left hand side and see what CDA you already have), just check in the drop down list and find the one that matches. Even if not then find the one that is closest (didn't do mine any harm). When Ready, click Flash. After a minute or so, once complete, disconnect USB cable remove battery from phone, insert ANY SIM CARD from ANY PROVIDER, re-insert battery and switch on, you are unlocked! I hope this helps people as I am so impressed I figured it out, took me a while like I say. Also, don't flame me for this or be nasty, I am genuinely trying to help people do all of this that certain companies charge a fortune for for free! This worked on my Rogers k790a, it also works on k800i, w580i, etc. Here are some quick pictures.

I have a W910i on T-mobile and they've kindly sent me an unlock code - unfortunately the instructions that came with the code seem to be for a different handset! (e.g. hold down the jog dial?). I'm flying abroad tomorrow and would like to get this unlocked so I can use the phone abroad, does anyone know how I can get to the phone code entry screen?

Sony Ericsson :: W580i - Unlock Code Required
Rogers wireless, Canada. Can provide the IMEI number and any other required info but unable in hours of searching and calling get a hold of the unlock code or the nck code for my phone. Canadian law as has been told to me by rogers restricts the release of the # by the service provider. Not able to find an online calculator. Simply want to remove the lock that prevents me from using my MP3's as ringtones. Rogers locks it so you have to buy from them.

Sony Ericsson :: W910i / Remote Unlock Code?
I just went and bought a Sony Ericsson W910i ( for $160 ) but it is locked to T-Mobile UK, and the only thing I can do with it is find the IMEI number and watch the demo video, so I wanted to get a remote unlock code, I would need to call T-Mobile UK for that right? What do I say since I bought it off craigslist, LNIB with a different firmware (R1FA035) and it is debranded. Would they give me a code? Would Fido be able to give me a code, or only T-Mobile, every place I look it is either 60 dollars or more for a w910i unlock code, or 25 Euros or more for a T-Mobile UK unlock.

Sony Ericsson :: W580i Patch Unlock Vs Subsidy Code
I understand that when you use the patch unlock method, the phone will remain unlocked unless you flash with new firmware. If the firmware needs to be updated, the phone can be re-unlocked a second time using the same method (generating new patch file), correct? Does patch unlocking affect the ability to subsidy unlock? I'm trying to unlock an AT&T branded w580i. I would prefer to use subsidy unlock method, so I'm having a friend who is a AT&T customer try to get me the code. However, if there is a delay, I might use the patch method so I can start using the phone right away. I just want to make sure that these two methods of unlocking will not have compatibility issues.Would I need to reflashed the unlocked phone to lock it again before I enter the subsidy code? Once a phone is unlocked by subsidy code, is there any way it would get locked again? I know with Moto's, that is possible if you flash with a locked monsterpack. If it's possible to be locked again, would the same subsidy code work again?

Sony Ericsson :: K800i - Phone Not Turning On / Red LED Flashing
My K800i just suddenly did not switch back on the other day! I have been on the Sony Ericsson website and gone through all the steps to check the battery and nothing works! The battery works in another phone and the only sign of life is a red LED flashing in the infrared port? Plugging it in overnight and still does not come on. The info on this phone is extremely important! If any updates are needed will the info be lost i.e. text messages?

Sony Ericsson :: K800i / Key To Let Phone Continue Ringing?
With my K700i, if a call came through that I did not want to pick up, but equally did not want to divert to voice mail, I could press the C button. This would make the phone carry on ringing, but silently. This is great for times when you don't want people to know that you are rejecting their call. Can anyone tell me what (if any) the equivalent key is on the K800i? C seems to have no effect.
