Samsung :: Using PdaNet With A BlackJack

I just got my BlackJack today, so I'm still googling and searching HoFo for what I can and can't do with it. Someone at another forum suggested I use PdaNet instead of the built in internet sharing program, as I've only got the $40 PDA Personal Max plan instead of the $70 PDA Personal Max plan with tethering. I downloaded and installed PdaNet, but I'm getting an error of "Modem error, PdaNet might not support your phone (err=1072). I tried searching HoFo for "BlackJack PdaNet" and did the same with Google, but I'm really coming to a dead end. Does PdaNet simply not support the BlackJack, or do I have to mess with some settings to get it to work properly?

Samsung :: M510 And PDAnet Doable?
I have a M510 and was considering getting a modem and mobile broadband service, but someone said I might be able to tether it and use PDA net. I looked through all 9 pages and did some searches here and on google and didn't see anything in this forum talking about it, so I hope this is the right place to ask.Anyway, is this doable? Does anyone have experience with it? I've seen some other posts on other forums where people say it can be done, but no posts where someone has actually done it with comprehensive instructions. Also, if it is doable, my phone didn't come with a data cable so I need to buy one. I've seen some for sale that include software and others that don't. Does PDAnet have all the functionality I'd need, or should I aim to buy a cable that comes with some software/drivers?Lastly, what's this I'm reading about Sprint catching people doing this, PAM, and stuff about disabling NAI? What's all this about?

IPhone :: PdaNet Does Not Stay Connected
Anyone else have issues with PdaNet not staying connected via USB? I have the latest registered PdaNet 1.53 and have set the desktop program to auto connect. Once I plug the phone in via the USB cable it connects fine but then drops the connection about 10 seconds later.

IPhone :: PDANET With Phone Plugged In Still Seems To Drain Battery
This seems to be pretty consistent behavior that i've observed a few different times. Last week I was in a 4 hour meeting, and I was browsing via pdanet the whole time... At the end of the meeting, i was expecting my iPhone to have full battery life. Instead, it had like 50%. So yeah... just seeing if anyone else has observed this.

HTC :: Internet Sharing Vs PDAnet For Windows Mobile
Does anybody have any thoughts as to whether PDAnet is better at connecting with the internet via GPRS/EDGE/3G than the Internet Sharing program that comes with Windows Mobile 6? I currently have an unlocked HTC TyTnII (aka ATT Tilt) and use the ATT network. My prior phone was a Palm Treo and I used PDAnet for Palm extensively (when I didn't have available a WiFi hot spot or ethernet connection) as a wireless modem for my laptop with good success. I have been able to connect using the TyTNII with Internet Sharing (although I found it slow; but that could be because ATT coverage wasn't good where I used it). I'm not concerned with data costs (or software costs) because I have a robust data plan. However, I am concerned with performance and ease of use. I'd appreciate any opinions of people who have used/tried both.

Samsung :: Blackjack To Mac For Internet - USB Connection On BlackJack To Modem
I have OS 10.4.9. I've downloaded the modem script and put it in the modem script folder, within the Library folder. I set my USB connection on my BlackJack to modem, but it never comes up under the Show menu on the Network preferences window. What am I missing? Should it automatically see the phone as a modem when you plug in the USB cord?

Samsung :: Blackjack I / Blackjack II - Sar Value Of Devices?
Does anybody know REAL sar values for BJI and BJII. I've found some numbers online but it is mainly for Europe where max rating is 2W/kg, couldn't find the values for N.America where max is 1.6W/kg.
I goggled for hours and even went on Samsung website but no such info there. Also, what is the difference I mean how to compare when it says:
"taken over a volume of 10 grams"
and
"taken over a volume of 1 gram"

Samsung :: Picture Quality On Blackjack II / 2 - Blackjack I
Samsung was supposed to have improved the camera from the Blackjack I to the II but they actually made it worse!! Does anyone else  notice that when you point the camera to take a picture, the colors are pretty accurate on the viewer compared to the actual object you are pointing at, but when you take the picture, no matter what the settings are (i.e. whitebalance) the colors get washed out on the picture you take.

Well, you are not alone. CNET.com, who reviews pretty much every major mobile phone release for every provider, reviewed both Blackjack's and noticed a significant difference in image quality...(scroll down after you click each link to the section where there is a picture of a table with stuffed animals on it...)....

Samsung :: Blackjack Or Blackjack II - Opinions
I'm up for an upgrade next month and am thinking of picking up a Smartphone. I've used a Dell Axim X51v PDA for several years so I'd like to go with a WM based Smartphone. I really like the looks of Samsung's Blackjack models. For what I use my PDA/Smartphone for though, I'm not sure which model would be the best for me. First of all, the original Blackjack is $50 cheaper right now and, while saving $50 would be nice, that's far from my only concern. I know the Blackjack II has a 2.0 megapixel camera instead of a 1.3 megapixel but I've not read a single good review concerning the quality of the camera and I rarely use this feature anyway. I probably didn't take ten photos with my old camera phone the whole two years I had it. The Blackjack II has the newer WM6 OS and it looks cool and all but actually I'm thinking that may be a reason for me not to buy. I've seen very few apps on the market for WM6 Smartphones. Many of the ones I see say they run on WM5 or just say they run on WM Smartphones but don't elaborate. How compatible is WM6 with WM5? Will it run most WM5 Smartphone apps without modification? I'd say this is the biggest concern I have and the others just came up after I started thinking about the OS compatibility issue. Does anyone out there have much experience/luck with trying to get WM5 Smartphone applications to run on the Blackjack II?

Samsung :: Blackjack - How About Considering Blackjack II
I have had a BJ since the day they were released. It is not perfect, but I have really enjoyed it. I am considering a BJ II. There are several nagging issues with the BJ that never got resolved with an official ROM update. I want to see if these still exist with the BJ II.
1. No voice command over bluetooth.
2. Wonky bluetooth stack making it difficult to use a device with the BJ and another phone without having to delete it and add it every time.
3. No tethering with Internet Connection Sharing in WM6.

So, what's the story on these issues and the BJII? Does it have these same problems? Also, does it have the same 200 mhz processor, or is it faster? And, when is the official WM6.1 coming out for it? One last thing. People who have owned both phones, is it as reliable as the original? Do the things that worked well with the original work at least as well with the new BJ? Will I miss the jog wheel on the side of the phone?

Samsung :: Can't Send And Receive MMS On A Samsung Blackjack
why one can't send/receive MMS on a Samsung Blackjack? I finally got my own blackjack working correctly, after getting on the tech chat forum this afternoon. All my settings were correct, and tech told me to turn it off for 30 seconds, then turn it back on.  Well, I did, but got disconnected from the tech, but amazingly, it worked. Unfortunately, I have NO IDEA exactly what was done to fix the problem. On top of that, my husband has the same exact phone, and his still doesn't send/receive MMS.  I spent another 45 minutes this evening on the tech chat forum, where they had me check my settings, which were correct; they checked the provisions on their side, which were correct, BUT I STILL CANNOT SEND/RECEIVE MMS.  Then, they disconnected my chat session before my issue was even resolved. Needless to say, I would absolutely LOVE to know if someone has got this issue figured out. I've checked what the other forums have said, regarding the connection settings, and I've even done the press the power button and disable the cellular data route, all to NO AVAIL. I've done it all, and still NOTHING.

Samsung :: Blackjack I / II - Which One Is Better?
I have had a Blackjack I since it first came out. I recently purchased a Blackjack II and returned it after a couple of days. My experience was as follows:

1. ActiveSync would wipe out most of my browser favorites with the Blackjack II. Never happens with the Blackjack I.
2. When downloading the London Times website on the brower on the Blackjack II, a pretty large page, it crashes IE.
Here's the link: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/newspapers/sunday_times/?days=Sunday. Nothing will restart IE except a soft reset. This is not a problem on the Blackjack I. I can easily read the London Times on the Blackjack I.
3. The phone and 3G signal is definitely weaker on the Blackjack II than the Blackjack I at my home location.
4. I find that I need to reset the Blackjack I and II frequently. No problem with the Blackjack I. Just pop the battery out and back in. With the Blackjack II, it's very difficult to get the battery cover off and then the battery itself is tough to get out.
5. I returned the Blackjack II for the above reasons so I didn't try the still camera or the video camera. Is the video camera better on the Blackjack II versus the Blackjack I?

Samsung :: BlackJack
I opened AT&T's site today, pretty much like any other day... And I noticed that the price of the BlackJack had gone up $25 from $74.99 to $99.99... :-( The package is still $50 after rebates, but I was planning on getting a regular plan, because I cannot afford a Data plan at this point... I also noticed that the price of the Motorola V3xx has increased significantly as well (I think it's double of what it used to be)... I don't care about the v3xx, but I was planning on getting a BlackJack next month and this kinda came somewhat as a disappointment... Any explanation as to why the sudden increase in price? I mean, the BlackJack is getting older so it makes sense for the price to be going down, not up. I hope it will go down to at least what it used to be by the time I get it...
