I've looked around several different forums, and maybe I missed a more relevant thread, but I wanted to start a conversation about the different menus available for Samsung phones.Although, I can't say this for sure, I believe that the method to getting into different menus is going to be the same across a variety of Samsung phones. This all started because my phone's DUN bluetooth profile was locked and I wanted to unlock it. My provider is US Cellular, who says they don't support tethering to PCs / handhelds, but I was fairly sure that as long as I got the settings right, I could get my phone to act as a gateway to the internet. Anyway, that's another conversation.
My phone: Samsung SCH-R610
Provider: US Cellular
What I found:
1. MSL / service programming code - was able to dig this out of the file nvm vm
vm_security (nvm_0002 did not exist for me). I used BitPim for this.
2. press # in the settings menu and used the code 000000 to get to a "System Info" menu. I Used the "Port Map" option to turn on the DUN profile (also set the Perf Mode to CDMA only mode because of something I read on a different site. I think that probably means the transfer speeds are going to be slower, but a data call did work. I don't really know what the reason might be for this, however)
3. from the "System Info" menu (see #2), press #. The phone asked for a 10-digit code, but I have not figured out what this code is. (my phone # doesn't work. The number under my PPP username (IMSI?), see #5 doesn't work, all 0s, all 1s also didn't work)
4. press * in the settings menu and enter the MSL / service programming code to get to the "Service Programming" menu
5. press * in the easyedge menu and enter the MSL / service programming code to get to the "Brew Info" menu. This is where I found the PPP authentication info. Surprisingly, the username was NOT [myCellPhoneNumber]@uscc.net, although it was a 10-digit string. QPST Service Programming reports this 10-digit string as my IMSI_S
6. press * in the messages menu. The phone then asks for a "Lock Code". It's 6-digits long and my MSL doesn't work here, neither does 000000, nor 111111.So, that's what I've got so far. If anyone can shed some light on #6 and #3, that'd be great.
Ok I just got the samsung D807 that was made for the rogers network. However I'm on fido and was wondering how to program the networking setting for the web on my phone. Also the rogers crap on my phone is annoying is there a way to obtain some sort of generic software for this phone????
Alright, I've been poking around and haven't seen anybody mention this, so I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about it:Menu > Settings & Tools > # > 000000 > 0 > 0218243440 which open up a "Param Editor", and if you go to "USERPREFS Editor" the first option it pulls up is "HIDDEN_MENUS:I" which is set to 0. I changed it to 1, but didn't notice any difference in the menus. I've only had it for one day so I don't really have them memorized...Sorry if somebody already posted about this, I couldn't find it.
I am having trouble getting hidden menus to come up, I followed the directions in this thread http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1580528 but when i get to the part under mobile web and press # the unlock menu does not appear. When I go to the first unlock the 1 is in the screen for hidden menus so I cant figure why they don't appear when I push # in mobile web.
Does anyone know the codes or how to get the codes to enter the hidden menus /commands on the SGH-A737? There are a few behaviors of the phone that I would like to see if they can be altered, such as: Calender alarm Tone / Volume. Disable Accept / Reject soft keys when the slider is closed.
I dropped my Samsung a870 into a pool today and I am obviously experiencing problems now. It would not turn on for a while but now it seems to power up and function fairly well. My problem now is that I keep getting the "searching SVC" screen. I have learned how to access all of the hidden menus but I have no clue what the NAM settings should be. I need to get my phone connected with my US Cellular service again. The only piece of information I was able to read about and verify on my phone is that my country code is correctly set at 310 for the united states. Does anyone have a list of what the NAM should be set at? Is this something I can reprogram, or do I need to take it to a store? My phone also seems to power itself up from time to time on its own. Perhaps it's still damp?
Anyone has the codes? to go into hidden menus? also on the d900 there is the background menu pic that u choose a transperacy level for. and when u go in to menus instead of displaying a black or white background it displayes your wallpaper. is this still available here? am i missing something? or has it been taken out of this phone? also is there anyone with a samsung e840 with an internal answerring machine?
I just switched to ATT 2 weeks ago from VZW. I have a Moto Z9 and so far I love it. I was just wondering if there are any hidden menus anyone has found. I would like to see the network information like what frequency the phone is currently using, etc. and if there are any hidden setting that I can mess with. I know VZW phones have these menus. Do GSM phones also?
It seems as though people have had some luck transferring ring tones and wallpapers through USB. Has anyone been successful in transferring these via blue tooth? Also If I have to get a USB cable for this to work is it done with BitPim or another program? While trying to connect via Bluetooth the only options I get are voice gateway, and opp server.
I know how to use a search button, and i also have had a good look around with no Prevail, so as a last resort i will post.
I have A R610 with SKtel. I have installed games and apps with no problems but i do have a few questions, and if answered correctly i think they can stop people from posting with the same questions over and over again.
Question 1. Is there any way to enable the GPS on this phone so that it will work with MGMaps or Google Maps. I have both installed but they wont recognise the GPS function of the phone.
Question 2. What PERM needs to be set in games so that the permission check will not pop up. I have set it up in miniopera by changing the permissions to 0=2 but this will not work in the games. I have also mirrored the PERM of a game i purchased from sasktel, this did not work either.
I have a R610 on cricket by week service and it only sends pic messages and connects to mobile web in 1x mode. If its in ev mode, it says browser error and I have to keep pressing retry until it switches to 1x so I can connect. I owned a LG phone that you could switch from hybrid 1x/evdo mode or 1x only, my question is, can you select 1x only and totally bypass ev mode on this particular model of phone. any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!
My phone won't pair bluetooth, i have tried 2 different headsets but it doesn't see them. the only thing that has been done to the phone hack wise is installed opera mini. phone is branded to virgin mobile canada.
Just got this when i plugged in my data cable and it asked to install software or automatically detect software, however i did not realize at the time that my modem cable was unplugged and after going through it i can not seem to get back and try it again. Is there anyway to get back to that point? Or am I screwed? Also is there anywhere I can buy the software if it doesn't work? From what I've been told this is one of the newest Samsungs out there and I'm just looking for some more information on how to connect it to my computer so i can download pictures off my phone however right now it is not working.
I bought a Samsung SCH-R610 phone and I use it with Virgin Mobile. I have been trying to find information on it and get the lastest user manual for it. I have not been able to find too much at all. I see hits on the R500 and A610 but not a whole lot on the R610. Is this a 'dud' of the mobile phone world or is it really new? I didn't want know much about it when I did get it. I bought it because my old LG broke. I wouldn't mind adding my own background or even adding in my own ringtone on the phone. Is that 'do'able' on this phone and is so could someone provide me with some insight and direction please?
so I've been browsing around for a while and found a cool little trick on the forums to make my own ringtones on the r610. Supposedly you just create a video file, get this "SUPER" program to convert it to 3g2 format, and throw it on the phone. I followed all the steps, but with the SUPER program I found (feb 2008) I cant specify the destination folder, and can't find the damn file.Any ideas on a different program to use thats worked for you, or a different version of the SUPER program that allows destinations I can find?
It seems like the camera on my phone has stopped working. I've had it for about 2 days. I was able to take pictures this morning, but now, I can't, and I haven't changed any settings. When I go into camera mode, everything is fine, but when I go to hit "capture" with the "..." button, menu button, or side camera button (3 options for capturing) nothing happens. It's as if it doesn't recognize the button being pushed (the buttons certainly work).
I have had a samsung SCH-r610 for about a 6 months and i recently bought a USB cable for it to transfer my own ring tones and the like since i cant from my SD card but i cant find USB drivers for the phone.I have searched up and down the forums and nothing. anyone have any ideas?
Just wondering, is there anyway to change the screen timeout setting (not the back light but the actual screen turnoff)? The other problem is, when the charger is plugged in, the screen never turns off and I'm worried this will cause unneeded wear on my lcd screen.
I have a samsung R610, with a 2GB kingston memory card. MY problem is that whenenever i remove the memory card and attempt to restart my phone, it goes to "Looking for service" and then just restarts. It stays in the "Looking for service" restart loop forever. When I re-insert my memory card, the phone starts and runs fine, i can even remove the card while the phone is on without any problems. Just that it won't start without the memory card. I would like to use the memory card for my digital camera instead, but i need it to start my phone. Has anyone else found their same problem, if so, how did you fix it?
I bought the new Samsung SCH-r610 recently. And I like the phone except the firmware on it is horrible due to company that sold it to me put their own version of firmware on it, restricting all the cool features available to me.So if anyone knows how to debrand /flash this phone to restore the original manufacturer's firmware or any other firmware please let me know. I know some people used oneNand to do most of flashing would this work for my phone?
I have connected my Phone and added the .jar and .jad file to the memcard. I transferred it to the phone but I cannot execute it. How do I make .jar/.jad game playable on my phone? (Samsung SCH-R610)? I have a samsung SCH-R610. I have a game that I got I have it in .jad format and .jar format. I transferred it to my phone but It cannot execute it. What am I supposed to do?
Ok I just bought a R610 and I want to take photos off it and add ringtones to the phone. Now! is there a program out there we need to use for this phone? I have the USB cable but when I plug it in, nothing! I can't seem to get into the phone.
How would you disable camera sounds on a R610 (CDMA)? I currently have QPST and CDMAWorkshop. I know similar questions have been posted before, but I haven't found any useful advice for this very phone.
I was recently gifted a Samsung i700. Does anyone know the NAM programming codes for this or some software available on the net that can do this.I've tried the code ##83587 available on the net but it doesn't work. I haven't found anything on the net or this forum regarding this.
Got Samsung A-870 activated with PagePlus and now they tell me that I have to take the phone to a PP dealer to have it manually programed. They also gave me a MIN number to give to dealer so he can program. Can someone please tell me how to do this myself!
Will using a generic car charger with a Samsung Sync (A707) hurt it in any way? I had to take the battery out and "reboot" the phone right after plugging the phone into the charger. Does this phone freeze at times for no reason or could it be the car charger? Here's the charger that was used: http://cellcables.com/proddetail.php...er-GSM-tmobile
I am currently trying to flash my Samsung SCH-A670. I have searched this forum (and Google) but have yet to find anything of help. I was wondering if anybody had a solution. I've done the same thing for a Motorola v323 using the Monster generic flash and was wondering if such a solution exists for the Samsung SCH-A670 and is known by anyone here. I appreciate any help. And yes, to answer that question, I have searched, but have not found a way to flash a non-carrier-branded firmware onto the A670.
I recently found one in my room that has been wiped clean for some time (no carrier identification and under my phone # it says 000-000-3776). Here are the questions I have: #1 - Can I somehow convert this to a different carrier instead of verizon? I have Centennial Wireless now and my Razr recently broke. It uses a SIM card but I was wondering if there was a way to tap into my account irregardless and simply indent the information into the phone to connect to the network #2 - It says Initial Programming Needed how can I correct this? #3 - What are the codes to enter programming mode and what are some codes while in it?
