Samsung :: Omnia: Is There A Way To Delay Autolock Feature
Jan 25, 2010
I recently bought Omnia i910 phone and overall really enjoying my purchase. One thing that bothers me is when you make a phone call the keypad is almost instantly locked - you have to press the button to unlock.
Is there some way to delay this auto lock feature by say 5 seconds?
I'm with Telus atm. pay-to-talk since my contract expired and I'm shopping for a new phone.
Telus has the Omnia for 3 yr. $0 for the phone Bell has the OmniaII for 3 yr. $99 for the phone
I'm going to opt out of a data plan (wifi should be fine for my usage) and get the equivalent of fav5 (or the bell equal) since I really only talk to my wife and a couple other numbers.
Question is - is the OmniaII enough better than the Omnia i910 to justify starting with Bell and the $99? Second part - should I get an unlocked version from the states and bring it to Bell/Telus (I think from what I read that would allow things like the GPS to work here in Canada)
Hello everyone. I have finally made my decision on the new phone i'll be getting. It was between the Sony Satio, N97 and the Omnia HD. I've decided the Omnia HD due to the reviews and the lack of problems with the phone compared to the other two. I have now one final question. On plemix, I see that there are two choices, Silver and Black. I have seen countless of pictures of the black one. However, I have yet to see the silver one. Does anyone have the silver one? If so, can you please post the picture.
I am new to the GPS technology and one of the reasons I buy this phone is that it says it has built-in GPS. But I search throught all the apps inside the phone and it doesn't have anything related to GPS except within settings. Can any expert tell me what I need to do in order to use this phone like a GPS device? I am located in Canada (Toronto).
I have an omnia 2 from bell and i would like to know where i can find OEM part since the screen has a scratch and one corner of the phone is scratched too since i dropped it so i wanted to know if there's a website where i can find the parts.
I've recently purchased a Samsung Omnia SGH-i900. I'm happy with the phone except that it dies within about 20 seconds of showing the first (and only) low battery warning. With other phones I've owned,I usually have at least half an hour of battery life from when the first low battery warning is displayed. Do any other Omnia owners have the same problem? I'm wondering if this a problem with the phone or the battery?
I have read some relatively old threads regarding a project to port/install the Andrioid OS on a Omnia 900 and 910. Is this a reality yet? I would much rather have the droid os on this phone than windows mobile. I hate this phone.. I switched back to my original Moto Q because i cant stand the onscreen keyboard and the touch screen assumes you have tiny fingers. I have tried different keyboard apps and even carried that retarded stylus (the one that looks like mascara.) with me and it was just a terrible design. But the phone does truly have everything.. and i think it would rock with Droid on it..
I have a customer who came in the other day with a problem. He purchased a Samsung Omnia II from Bell and had them unlock the phone for him so he can use it in the Dominican while he's down there for 2-3 months at a time. Problem is this, he hasn't been able to successfully get the phone to connect with his computer. Bell tech support have gone over several possible solutions to no avail. He has tried connecting to both a Windows based PC as well as a Mac and still no connection, although the Mac apparently will get further in connecting before failing.
I'm wondering if the phone being unlocked might be causing the issues, but Bell themselves unlocked it. The customer is coming back in this weekend and I would like to have some kinda answer or at least hope of an answer for him.
I have a scratch on my Omnia 2 and was wondering if there's a product that i can use since it seem that the Displex LCD Scratch Remover isn't for touch screen phone so if anyone here have had any experiences with others product let me know.
Has anyone be able to successfully unlock the GPS radio on the Telus Samsung Omnia? I know there is an update for the Verizon Omnia, but for some reason it won't work on the Telus Omnia. I have used Google Maps and TomTom 6 but it can never lock onto the satellites. What com ports do I have to select or change to get a lock on?
I just purchased a Samsung Omnia II/2 (GT-I8000). It is loaded with Windows Mobile 6.5 (non-English). Where can I download the English version of the ROM? Also, how do I wipe the current ROM and install the English version?
I have just installed spb windows mobile shell 3.5 on my phone everyhting works great except for the caller id. When getting an incoming call only the picture shows up, but no name or number at all. The funny thing is if i ignore, then all the info shows up in my missed calls list. Is this a bug in the spb software or is there a windows setting i missed? P.S. I've already tried the registry fix for call id match, ive used the key value 7, 10, and 11 hoping it would recognize, but it doesnt.
Is there a way to import the contacts from my LG VX8600 to the new Samsung Omnia i910?If it would help, I can export the 500 contacts to a .csv file using BitPim.
I have read stuff where people are doing this right now, and other posts saying it is impossible. I want the truth! I am ready to switch to Cricket anyways because I'm tired of paying $90 month for verizon when I can get the same stuff from Cricket for half, but I'm dreading both buying a Cricket phone and losing my Omnia (i900). I asked at the retail store if I got it unlocked could I use it since both are CDMA carriers and the guy didn't seem too informed. Also, another store rep told me that some markets were able to do that but my market (DC/Northern VA) would not support a verizon flashed phone. So what's the truth? If I get it unlocked can I get it to work on Cricket?
Have my Omnia I900 connect to the bluetooth kit in my freelander and every minute or two the screen actives similar to pressing a button (think its performing a sync or something) This may seem minor but at night it is very annoying and if I forget to plug it in on a long journey it drains the battery. Anyone come accross this and know how to stop it happening?
I just purchased the Samsung Omnia i900 cell phone from this one guy on Craiglist.com. This is a Verizon Phone and the guy had it flashed to Metro PCS. I bought this phone, thought I could use it for Page Plus Wireless. I had my old number ported over to the phone already and now I can't make a call out.
My Questions:
The ESN number is clean, how come I can't make a call out?
Is it because the phone was flashed to a different network and I have to flash it back to Verizon Network before I can use it?
If I have to flash it back, can someone show me how to flash this phone back to verizon network?
I have already asked both verizon and metro to flash the phone for me and they won't do it.
My dad just got back from the Philippines and picked up a brand new Omnia i900 while over there to use in the States. It's a GSM phone and since he'll only be in the US for about 6 months right now, he doesn't want to get locked into a multi-year contract. Which pre-paid GSM companies are out there that are compatible with his phone? He would like to get voice, text, and data.

Searched for about an hour before starting this thread. If it has been discussed before I apologize in advance. Here is my problem. My Omnia i910 will only charge when powered down. This leads me to believe it is a software issue. When powered down it charges normally. Red light and charging indicator on the screen. When powered up it does nothing. OS is WM6.1 I am using SPB mobile shell as well. Other than a few changes made with "my favorite hacks" several months ago the phone is pretty much as Verizon delivered it.
Someone reported that GPS does not work in the area when there is no phone signal... I am not able to test it because I live in an area where Verizon coverage is very good. One thing I know for sure is if I turn the phone radio off, it also turn off GPS.
I purchased a Samsung Omnia I910 off craiglist, but the lady had lost her headset jack, FM radio jack, and the usb cable. I just purchased a usb cable and the 3.5mm headset adapter off eBay, but I'm having trouble locating a FM antenna for it. Does anyone know of a good place to buy a replacement?
My wife I and I just receive brand new Verizon sealed in the box Samsung Omnia I910 phones [1 each]. After several years with Verizon we are really excited about starting new accounts with Page Plus. Can someone here help us set up these phones or at least point us in the right direction. We know next to nothing in this area. I am fairly good at building and servicing computers, but I have never done anything on a phone.
Here are some of my questions: 1. Can we get the GPS to work with Page plus on this Samsung Omnia I910? And if yes, how? 2. Can we get the Internet to work with Page plus on this Samsung Omnia I910? And if yes, how? 3. Can we get at least one of our Verizon phone numbers transferred over to Page Plus, and if yes, how? 4. Should we update our OS [I think it is Windows 6.1 Mobile Pro] and if so, how? 5. How do you recommend we set up this phone? Are there like any special tweaks or mods that are cool yet do not alter the stability of the phone? 6. Is Windows Mobile Pro 6.1 any good [we both had Windows Mobile 5 on our VX 6700's and it was ok, but often very slow and crashed a lot too at times]? 7. Could you please be nice to us [it is our very first time here and we are totally excited about setting these new Samsung Omnia i-910's up right the first time.
In case you're wondering, I'm an American teaching English in Korea.I have confirmed that the phone does not have English capability out of the box but I was told by the guy who sold it to me there should be an app to convert it to English. From the research I've done so far (Google) there a lot of people that have the same problem as me but unfortunately I haven't been able to find any solutions.
I see most posts relate to Android, sorry for question on old Omnia II. I just received an Omnia II this week, have worked through most issues. My last issue seems to be a software issue. The Omnia II has a number of widgets installed, one widget is an Exchange/Activesync widget. I get an error everytime I run the widget, it asks me to re-install. I cannot find a web site that will Provide a file to download for the Exchange/Activesync widget. Samsung support will not assist any instructions on reloading/re-installing the cab.
I would like to use my Samsung Omnia as a Bluetooth Remote for my PC but I'm struggling to find any software that will work. So far I've tried Phone Remote Control and Mobilewitch but they are not touch screen compatible. Does anyone know of a touch screen compatible bluetooth remote control application compatible with Samsung phones? It has to work over Bluetooth because my PC doesn't have WiFi.
I have an Omnia i910 with the WM6.1 Everytime making a call it automatically locks the touch key and shows this message: "Press the action key to unlock the touch key." Is there a way to disable it in the setting?
I just picked up an Omnia i910 and got the WiFi to connect to my wireless network at home just fine. However, I cannot do anything with it? What am I missing here? I can open Opera and can't go anywhere. I can open up IE and still can't browse anything. Anyone have a suggestion? The Omnia is definitely connected properly to my network on a Netgear router.
