Samsung :: Alternative To Activesync And Outlook For Blackjack?
Every time I go to sync my phone via activesync I literally have to uninstall activesync and reinstall it to get it to recognize my phone. I just don't understand it. All my virus scan and firewall stuff is off but it does nothing when I plug my phone in.So I say all that to say is there another program besides activesync and outlook to sync contacts and calendar stuff on a blackjack?

Samsung :: Blackjack Via ActiveSync Stumped - Contacts From Outlook 2003
Got new Blackjack that links to WinXP Pro with ActiveSync 4.5 just fine. Want to copy contacts from Outlook 2003 to phone - not through MS Exchange Server. Is this possible?MS ActiveSync says, "ActiveSync allows you to synchronize Microsoft Outlook information directly with Microsoft Exchange Server 2003" This rather implies that my above question is not possible, but does anyone know how to hack around this?I exported my Outlook contacts into a CSV file, but the Blackjack seems to have no contacts import function.

Samsung :: Blackjack - Alternative Browsers?
A couple of the sites I'm trying to access (especially forums) are no-workie for me on my BJ. If this were a desktop problem I would try different browsers to troubleshoot the problem. I haven't found a version of FireFox for the BJ though. So my question is, what other browsers (besides IE) are available on the BJ and what kind of luck have people had with them? Has anyone found a version of FireFox for the BJ?

Samsung :: BlackJack ActiveSync
I can't get my new BlackJack to sync with ActiveSync. I have tried both AS 4.2 (came on CD) and 4.5 (download). The phone says "connected" sometimes, sometimes it says "Waiting for network". ActiveSync says "Synconizing" but nothing happens. There is an IP connection established but nothing happens (almost no pakets transmitted). The troubleshooting points to a missing IP connection but there is one and it works (I can even ping my BlackJack). When I click explore I can access my BlackJack and transmit files but I can't sync Outlook or favorites.

Samsung :: ActiveSync And Blackjack 2
Apparently I must have offended my BJII... Installed ActiveSync 4.5 on my home machine from CD, connect via USB cable, fine. Sync contacts works fine. Then at work, decided to see if I can connect it to my work PC via Bluetooth. After several hours, no luck. Punt. Return home, try to ActiveSync again on my home machine, no luck. According to the ActiveSync troubleshooter I have the infamous port 990 issue. To make things worse, I do not even see the ActiveSync menu on the BJII. All I see is a screen that says "To synchronize your device with a desktop computer, install the sync software that came from the Getting Started disk" and so on. I do not get any connect options. I do not see the 'Connect to Windows PC' screen where it asks you to sync email, contacts, etc. I have uninstalled and installed ActiveSync, made sure everything is checked on the PC side, and the 990 port issue still comes up. I have allowed port 990 thru Windows firewall, no luck. Also disabled firewall altogether, no luck. So, before I call support, is there anyone that has solved Port 990?

Samsung :: Blackjack - Activesync - Greyed Out
This morning I turned on my Blackjack to get a white screen of death, it wouldn't go anywhere wouldn't do anything. I took it to Cingular and do to them not being able to see anything on the actual screen, they couldn't get my numbers off my phone. Yes their stored on my phone, not my sim. It will connect to ActiveSync but when I go to options to sync contacts, its greyed out. My question is where are your contacts by default stored on your phone. Heres an attachment which is a picture of my phone's memory. Where do I need to go where I can hopefully pull off my contacts and store them on my harddrive? I might be using Activesync wrong and trying to pull things off my sim, how do I pull them off of my phone if that's the case. I'm really really ticked off about this phone and possibly losing all my numbers.

Samsung :: Blackjack / Errors With Activesync 4.5
I just upgraded to the Blackjack and since I already have AS 4.2 on my computer from my HP iPaq, I attempted to use that. As soon as I plugged in the phone to the USB port, device manager started detecting the phone. It added another network connection (which I don't want) and then AS detected it. It started "retrieving settings" and stayed there until it timed out and stated it couldn't complete the sync. I then uninstalled AS 4.2 and then installed AS 4.5, that didn't work either. I have Sygate on my work laptop that is configured specifically for my company. The only way I was able to get it to work was to actually go into the services and stop the Sygate service. It then started working. I don't want to have to do this every time I want to sync. I also do not want everytime I connect the Blackjack for the new network connection to start trying to obtain an IP automatically, as I am connected to my work via VPN and that causes the VPN to drop. Since I mostly wanted this phone for the PDA capabilities, I would really appreciate any help with this. I can't figure out why AS 4.2 didn't have a problem syncing with my iPaq for the past 5 years and now this new phone won't work at all while using Sygate. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Samsung :: Activesync On Blackjack Still Not Working
Its been a week that I have been trying to do this and activesync is now my only obsticle in my way. I had activesync 4.5 and when connecting to my phone, it would say connecting after it asked for the password which im guessing is the support code. After typing in the support code, it would say connecting for up to 2 mins, then it would say invalid password. I have tried this for days and it still will not work. I uninstalled activesync and download 4.2 because I heard that was the one that came in the box. I tried it on this one aswell and same result. I have tried activesync on 3 differnt computers 2 of mine and even one of my friends and non will connect to my phone. When looking at the results for activesyn it says- "The server you are syncing with is not an Exchange Server, oris running incompatible software. Choose Configure Server on the activesync menu to specify server." I do not know what the configure server does, it has my email information on it when all I want to do is connect to pc to use activesync. Someone please help me, I have went to Cingular Tech Support and they said they are not responsible for activesync and gave no help at all.

Samsung :: Blackjack II And ActiveSync Via Bluetooth
I originally had my BJII synced properly but something happened on my laptop (which I do not recall now exactly what) that I lost Bluetooth sync capability inspite of the laptop and BJII being paired. The solution was to actually use a passkey. All along I was trying to setup sync without a passkey and it just wouldn't connect and show ActiveSync as a service. As soon as I used a passkey to pair the two, it all started working. My 2c.

I'm sure that I've accessed my BJ's Windows folders from my laptop, (maybe it was my desktop) but when I open the device icon on the laptop's desktop at the moment, I get Database folder, Docs and settings, My Documents, Program files etc. but no Windows folder. Could it be because I've chosen not to synchronize Contacts, calendar, email etc. that I can't see it? Outlook is not installed on the laptop.

I recently upgraded my windows verison to windows vista. In the process of doing so I lost activesync 4.2 that I need to be able to use to sync my computer to my Blackjack. I still have the install cd that came with the Blackjack. But its already telling me its on my computer and it wont allow me to download activesync from the install cd. This is very frustrating. I've searched my computer and its not there. Is this like a one time download from the cd deal? If so I am screwed. How do I go about getting activesync back?

Samsung :: BlackJack 2 Activesync 4.5 Device Not Recognized
I have a BlackJack 2 that I upgraded to WinMo 6.1 about 5 months ago. Phone is setup to wirelessly sync (using Activesync) to my corporate Exchange server. I use USB tether on occassion to sync music and transfer photo files. When connected with the tether it will also perform an Exchange sync if my laptop is logged into our system. Running Win XP SP3 Windows Firewall with Exceptions allowed USB port set to Activesync Everything up to last week was working fine. Last week I was using phone to receive/create/send email with no problems. Suddenly with a new email I needed to validate/check an email name on my corporate server. Outlook on the phone couldn't find the name. After several retries I decided to do a soft reset by powering off and then back on. When the device started to boot up I got the Samsung logo, followed by the AT&T logo followed by the Windows Mobile logo. At this point the boot sequence stopped and refused to go any further. I retried several times, waiting for several minutes between restarts and letting it attempt to boot for 20 minutes. No success. I was then forced to do a hard reset on the phone using the Up Key during the power on sequence to reformat the system (yes, I removed the SIM card and my SD card first). The reformat appeared to go fine and the phone booted with all defaults and it reports it is running WinMo 6.1. I then configured the phone settings for connecting to my Exchange Server and that went fine and works as expected over the wireless syncing my email, contacts, tasks, etc. Later I needed to download some pictures I took with the phone using the USB thether; Activesync on my laptop launched but it could not establish a connection. The troubleshooter log indicates it could not find anything wrong. ActiveSync on the laptop reports no Partnerships..I retried all this with another tether, no luck. I checked all Connections settings on phone, disabled my Win Firewall entirely, made sure the USB port was set up for ActiveSync. No luck. I uninstalled and reinstalled ActiveSync 4.5 on my laptop; no luck. On my laptop, Network connections reports a Windows Mobile Device is connected. However, when I try to access it, there is nothing in it. If I configure Connections | USB from ActiveSync to Mass Storage I can access from the laptop the SD card on the phone but none of the folders or files in the phone itself. Using the phones explorer prorgram I can access all the phones folders and files. I suspect there is something wrong on the phone since all this started with the hard reset.

Samsung :: BlackJack / Why Does ActiveSync Run When I Dont Invoke It?
I have had a Blackjack since the end of March. All in all, I have been happy with my purchase(if I overlook the extra $125.00 I paid).Every day, whenever I access the internet, ActiveSync starts all by itself & runs in the background. SLOWING MY CONNECTION.I have not been able to successfully "sync" my Blackjack with my windows XP desktop. As I do not have the "latest Windows Service Packs"...I would like to disable the ActiveSync app, via registry settings. I keep going to "Task Manager" & "stop" ActiveSync, every few minutes! Is my phone the only 1 that has this issue?

Samsung :: Blackjack II - ActiveSync Keeps Showing Up In Task Manager
I setup ActiveSync on my PC yesterday and synced my Blackjack II. Even got bluethooth sync to work after some effort (more than it should have taken). Anyway, now periodically I look in task manager (hold down Home for a few secs) and ActiveSync keeps appearing. I stop it manually but then it comes back later. Can anyone explain why it starts up on it's own? I get this sinking feeling it's gonna be a battery killer if I can't stop this.

Samsung :: BlackJack II ActiveSync 4.5 Mobile Device Crash
I have a Black Jack II. I just updated to Windows 6.1. I use ActiveSync 4.5 and Windows XP Pro My device sync's just fine until I plug it into a wall or car charger. After plugging it into one of those devices the mobile unit does not work properly. It doesn't seem to happen immediately, it seems to need a few minutes and then it starts to act up. Once this happens you can not see any contacts in the contact list. You can add a contact but you can not see the contacts you added. All programs run sluggishly or not at all. You can not receive a call. The device acts as if it is low on memory but it worked fine until I plugged it in. The only way to solve this issue is to reset the device. This problem started happening after moving to Phoenix, AZ from Pennsylvania. My IT person made the switch for me but says they did nothing different with the data. We actually blew all the contacts away and re-imported a new list. We even reduced the list to under 200 contacts because we thought to many might be killing the memory. We do use a VPN connection but I synced when not logged on to the VPN and the same thing happend. We previously used the same VPN connection with no issues for nearly 1 year. I just upgraded to 6.1 because Samsung recommended it but alas it did not fix the problem. I know it's not my particular phone because my wife has the same phone and the problem exists on hers when we sync it also. I am assuming I have an issue with data from my Outlook but previous to this my data synced perfectly fine with no issues. It did not start until after the IT person got me on line in Phoenix.

I plug it in, it waits a bit, then searches a bit, then says it cannot connect and sends me through some troubleshooting stuff, none of which works. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, rebooted, shut off the phone, restarted, etc. No dice. Baffled. Anybody have any ideas. I am not running Zone Alarm and I disabled my firewall. I am running Windows XP, Service Pack 2. Any ideas?

Am I missing something? Does the data plan with Cingular effect this configuration? I don't do phone purchasing, so the person who does that is verifying the data plan on the phone to make sure it as unlimited data for Direct Push.
