I have a Nokia N97 RM-505 black with firmware v20.0.27 Before updating to 20.0.27, I reset the phone with the so called 3 finger salute:(shift, space, backspace, power button to start), then formatted mass memory, then deleted anything deletable on c/e drives, then reset to factory setting, and applied 20.0.27 without problems.
I have a lot of applications installed on it, mostly free or purchased from handango (I don't use ovi store since they don't let me download what I bought for backup). It took several days to install the applications, I also downloaded a lot of maps to the phone, as well as mp3s. The phone worked beautifully, with all installed apps it had around 45MB free, and responded reasonably quickly. the problems started when I attempted to restart the phone, it got stuck on the white startup screen with the blue nokia (so called white screen of death).
After having to do a hard reset and reinstall all several times (not fun), I googled for a solution (removing/replacing batter and restarting didn't work after hundreds of attempts. Finally I found a consistent workaround on this forum.
1. Make sure phone is not fully charged (at most 2 bars)
2. Shutdown phone
3. Disconnect usb cable, and remove battery
4. Replace battery....
I have a Blackberry Curve 8520. Yesterday it got stuck on a white screen, with a small black clock in the middle (the kind that you see when you're waiting for a page to load on the internet browser).Even if I turn my phone off, take the battery out, or put it on charge, this "white screen of death" as I've read it being described by other people online, won't go away!!
The phone is refusing to start and only the white screen of death saying Nokia comes up. I reset it with the key board using the Shift + Space bar + Backspace + Power key. Twice now it has come back but as soon as I restart it, screen goes funny and it fails to restart with the white screen. I think Nokia service is the next port of call unless someone has an option.
Clue anybody to probable cuase of white screen of death on a 5800 xm . Where phone just sticks on the white screen or sometimes the actual boot screen . Its not a reboot that happens phone just freezes battery out solves the problem . Have an idea that it could be tied to the Auto Keyguard switch but that may be a red herring.
I own a Nokia X3-00. When I first purchased it, after 2 days, it failed to switch on. Instead a white screen appeared and after the Nokia logo appears, the screen flashes 3-4 times and than it goes off. I got a new set in place of it since it was just 3 days old. Now the new phone I got also got the same problem of white screen. I wanted to ask that what is the reason behind this white screen problem? I didn't update the firmware and didn't disturbed any settings of the phone.
i have read many posts on this forum about solving white screen of death problem on Bold but nothing is working for me. I have wiped using JL_Cmdr and reinstalled fresh OS, but still it is white screen.
i have a blackberry Curve 8530, ive had for about 8 months, and out of nowhere tooday i got the white screen of death. I've tried everything, from putting pressure on the corners of the screen, but i gave up. I just went to BB protect and backed up everything!
I have an LG Wave. The interior screen has gone completely white on me. All of the phone's functionality still works however I cannot see anything on the interior LCD screen. The screen does dim with the power save. Anybody have any thoughts as to where to look to troubleshoot and if the LCD is bad is there an online site to order just the LCD from?
Yesterday all of a sudden my phones screen turned completly white and i cant see anything on the phone. I wonder why this is happenning and im not really interested in replacing the phone because I have like another 2-3 weeks left in my contract and i am going to switch to att because i have an iphone that i want to use. So, any ideas on why this happens and if there is any way to fix it.
I have an GSM Elf & just starting having an "new" issue. The other day I turned it on & the screen remained blank...like just the backlight came on..I've tried resetting, taking the battery out, recharging, etc. I've even tried to Hard Reset, but to no avail.A couple oddities: When I put it on the charger, I don't get a battery status light on the time (red, orange, green). When I push the power button, the backlight doesn't ever go off...I have to remove the battery to get the backlight to turn off. I have hooked to my PC via USB & the PC doesn't recognize it at all. I also have MyMobiler installed & it doesn't reconize either.
Does anyone have any ideas? Or do I now own a poor excuse of a brick (paperweight)?
I have had my Sensation for about 6 months now. I am having significant problems with it. It is very slow and it continually resets to the white HTC screen screen and proceeds to reload. This happens when simply trying to touch the "home" key or the back key.
I cannot resolve the problem. I have removed all apps.
I discovered that my blackberry got a white screen, I researched it and thought it was the white screen of death, but the everyone is saying that it occurs when the battery is dieing. My LED light is still flashing and it goes off whenever I get a text or email, it's just a plain white screen. Have I damaged the screen or is it the software?
Like the subject says .I got an error re-syncing exchange contacts, and attempting a full re-sync also failed.I thought a power cycle on the phone might help, but when I went to turn it on again, it comes up with the white screen, and blue Nokia text, but then hangs - no sound, doesn't respond to any keys. Can't power off - only option is to remove the battery.I've tried powering up without SD card and without SIM as suggested in other posts, but still hangs on startup.
I've been using the Nokia 6234 for quite a while but suddenly it stopped working. when I try to start the phone the screen flashes a couple of times and then it goes back to sleep. The battery icon is visible in the top-left corner. I cannot do anything after it starts. Most interesting is the fact that if i try using a different SIM (other than Vodafone) i get an error message and I'm asked to enter the restriction code . This part works excellent - i can write numbers without the phone shutting down or something else.Does anyone have any ideas about the problem?I've tried entering reset codes - they don't work, Nokia PC Suite does not get in touch with the phone because it's shut down, i do not know anything else to try.
So I have a Blackberry Curve 8520, Recently it has been fading into a white screen whether im listening to music, searching images, browsing the web, in a phone call etc. then it will not fully load up after I take the battery out and put it back in so I attach a charger which gets it to work every time.I went into the Orange shop and asked what this may be, they said to do updates on the phone, which there are no updates to do.
Right, I've had my blackberry for a few months now, it was bought from someone else. Only recently, my phone has been turning itself off and giving me the "white screen of death" but I've always managed to get passed it by removing the battery then restarting it. But today, it has turned itself off, reloaded to the main screen where it then freezes, the screen goes white and it says "app error 523 - reset". Ive clicked reset about a billion times and it keeps doing the same thing over and over again. I downloaded blackberry desktop/device software but it won't find my device. I tried that app wizard loader thing, but that didn't work either. And yes, my phone is charged.
I dropped my iPhone 3g this morning and the screen is white now. I can't restart it or charge it or anything. I can do my passcode though and I can hear it unlock or vibrate if I enter it wrong, but I can't see anything on the screen besides white and the occasional black or blue lines.
My Curve 9300 ran out of battery last night, so I plugged it into the charger and the blackberry logo and loading bar appeared.Problem is that instead of going to my home screen there is a white screen which says:
App Error 523 Reset
I hadnt installed the desktop software before so I have now, but because my phone has no charge as it ran out before it failed, the desktop manager cannot connect to it to allow me to re-install the software so I really dont know what to do!
5 months ago my 8900 catches the White Screen of death. This past Saturday night, connected it to laptop and 1 hour later its working fine. Pop the sim back into it. Works fine all day Sunday and Sunday night. At some point between 1am and 8am the screen turned white again. Now its stuck on the white screen but I still receive calls and messages but cant see anything. Tried to pull battery and do a complete wiping as well as a restore of applications. Nothing is working at this point. IDK how it worked Saturday night.
Last night i did a battery pull on the storm (9530)... while it is booting up, it gets to the white screen with the blue bar and freezes at the same spot while starting back up. No matter how many times i pull the battery to restart it.. it freezes.
Just a white screen with absolutely nothing else. Well, i read up that you have to reboot the OS, i do that, follow the instructions on one of the member's post, and it says the loading was successful, however, still stuck at that white screen.
Phone has white screen of death ive tried all i can think of to fix, soft reset ,hard rest, power off battery out then put back in then hold return untill phone restores itself completly to get onto the safe mode settings but just will not work i have tried a new screen same thing on that so put the old one back on i have reinstalled the os system ive tried updates you name just cant get rid of the wsod
About a month ago while drinking wrecklessly at a local bar here in vegas. I Managed to drop my new cricket Myshot oh....4000 times onto the concrete floor. Now the screen just shows the White Screen of death, but the outside screen still works and the rest of the phones functions work perfectly fine. To my knowledge this means the LCD is probably okay, but the flex cable has a defect causing the white screen malfunction. So, two days ago i ordered an Alltel sch-r430 off ebay for $2.50 (click here to see) simply for the Flex Cable and Screen. how to disassemble this phone. and the alltel screen/flex cable will most likely solve my White Screen of Death right?
My Bold 9700 give APP ERROR 523 together with a WHITE SCREEN OF DEATH. don't know what to do, terribly frustrated (navigating this site did not help either) and about to smash this thing to the floor and get something else.
So basically my k800i has the white screen of death. Does anybody have any up to date method of fixing it? This is my first time trying anything like this so I would appreciate it if somebody could give me an easy or detailed method of how to fix this.
I believe my issue is regarding a theme i recently downloaded and was using prior to experiencing this App Error 523 message upon reboot. I've attempted a few "tactics", but to no avail... the "white screen of death" is still taunting me. Now i'm stuck in my cubicle all day with an inoperable Blackberry, NO USB cable, and NO desktop manager.
Getting quite frustrated with this phone now. I've had my BlackBerry Curve over a year now, and I'm on a 2 year contract with Orange. But I've had this problem. My phone will be fine when it's plugged into my computer or my charger, but when I take it out and start to use it, sometimes within 5 minutes, sometimes within hours, it can come up with this whiteness filling the screen. This leaves me with no choice but to take the battery out.
Then after that it refuses to turn on until I plug it in again. This is annoying me to the extreme because I can spend hours waiting for it to charge, then when it's fully charged I'll take it out, go out, put music on or something and it'll go off yet again. Sometimes it can just cut off without the white screen. Even then it won't turn back on without a power source. I've tried updating the software and that won't work.
My phone said to download update so I did which then lead to the itune connect screen. I connected my phone to the PC and opened itunes which gave me the message that it did not recognize my phone and would have to restore factory setting. I tried to reboot my phone by holding down both buttons (no red slider ever appears) until it turned off. Once I turned it back on it went right back to that screen. I tried to restore factory setting and it gave me an error.
I installed lifetime free ovi maps on to N97 via computer and it worked initially. Then all of a sudden everything went black and phone restarted itself and since then it is stuck on the white screen with nokia logo.I have taken out battery umpteen times and everytime it is stuck. Won't go beyond this point.
I just dropped my cellphone and it turned off. when i tried turn it back on, appeared a white screen and nothing more. the keyboard is normal and the screen blinks between white and black. I tried to update via SEUS and flash with a2uploader tool and aerix application BUT nothing happen.
Yesterday was my first day trying to use my new E7 as my primary phone. I am having a major problem where the phone is stuck at the white nokia log boot screen and it keeps restarting.
In the days before, I updated from the original 13.x firmware to 14.002 though the ovi suite. After about an hour of usage yesterday, I opened the on phone ovi store application and it said an update was required before I could use it, so I let it update OTA. After the update, I opened the application and tried to get Angry Birds Free. The download started, then I pressed an in app button to do something else in the mean time and the phone froze up during the screen transition. Restarted with 8 second power cycle. Back into the ovi store to continue the download, this time the phone restarted on its own halfway through the download. Back into the ovi store a 3rd time to continue the download, phone froze up. Restarted with 8 second power cycle. Wouldn't get past the boot screen.
Yesterday I was able to get the phone to connect to my computer and I attempted to reinstall 14.002 firmware 2x, which seemed to work but I was still stuck. I was able to call Nokia Customer Care and the support person tried some of the same things I did. Then without a sim card in the device we connected to my computer, tried to reinstall firmware, it complained about no sim card. I put an old non-working sim in the device and the home screen came up all of a sudden. So it appeared to be fixed.
I'm back to the same issue today, only now my computer won't connect to the phone. I've tried 10 times. Once it connected but only as a storage drive, not to Ovi Suite.
All that shows on my w610 is a white screen on startup. Been reading up on flashing via xs++, would that fix it? Was ready to do it but I read somewhere that it doesn't help cid53 phones and I'm not sure if my w610 is one. I'm really frustrated with my phone and I just don't know what to do. I'm totally lost when it comes to flashing and modding phones.
I have had my Storm since it came out. I take great care of it, only update with official revs of the BB OS. I only have a few applications. I turned it on a few days ago and got a white screen that had a JVM error 102. Called VZ tech support and they told me I had a corrupt file in the OS and asked me to unistall and reinstall. I have done this 5 times and still I have a white screen that has reset on it. Even doing a cold boot, nothing changes.
My girlfriend got a Samsung A640 from Sprint and she's experiencing some problems with it. THe main thing being it dying randomly and the current problem, it stays stuck on the Sprint PCS Vision Start UP screen. Anybody have a solution for it?
