i've just got a Nokia and installed PC Suite.I want to import my contact list from my previous phone.I'm trying to use the "import CSV" for contacts, but it is broken.I cannot event load the files that are exported by PC Suite (French version).this exported CSV file is encoded in UTF16, with semicolon separator, double quote quoting, and with a first row containing the labels.it fails to load.I've tried many change on one simple line (encoding iso, comma separator, no header row), and nothing works Can someone give me the CSV format for import, or just a sample. I've writen a Java program to convert my agenda in CSV, and I can retro-engineer anything that can works, but noting works.I've look here and on all internet and it seems a FAQ with no answer. the only answer is to sync with outlook, but it is not a solution. I could also build a txt file, but here also I need the format or at least an example that works, even just one line.the kind of separators, the number and order of fiels and the eventual headers are the only things i need.
I have an E51 and am having a problem importing contacts via PC Suite 184.108.40.206. I'm using Mozilla Thunderbird on Windows XP. If I export contacts as CSV, when I try to import the communication centre says "The contacts cannot be imported. Check the file format.". If I try vcf (I used an online tool to convert the data), the communications centre just quits/crashes and takes me back to the start page of PC suite.
Any ideas what's going on? This kinda defeats the entire point of having this phone and I might have to return it.
When I connect my Nokia E55 to PC Suite (220.127.116.11) it sees messages correctly. Just in a second it updates messages from the phone and I get only multimedia messages on PC Suite - no text messages at all.Plus I can not move messages from Draft folder to another folder.

I bought an E63 recently and by it's very nature I need to be able to link it to my laptop for uploading/downloading data. Laptop's a Sony FE11S running XP SP3 which connects successfully with the E63 via cable or Bluetooth.
I need to import all of my contacts from the PC to the E63 but in PC Suite, as soon as I click on <contacts> <file> <import> it crashes bringing up the blue screen. Tried all the latest software versions including the E63, tried the Nokia PC Suite removal tools, tried only loading essential (windows) programs and still it crashes! It was over two weeks ago that I contacted Nokia support and all that I've received is a succession of emails (from different people each time) telling me more or less to do the same thing and ignoring my comments and questions, eg. is their a log file somewhere that would tell us where the problem lies? Tried telephone support a couple of times, hung on for 15 minutes each time only to be cut-off . . !
I am using nokia pc suite to transfer mp3 songs from my PC to the 5130 Music Xpress.... It says I have to choose either aac or M4A compression... Which is better? In both, there are 3 bitrates in turn...
I just got a Nokia 5300 and I'm a GNU/Linux user. Yes, I know there's no PC suite available for linux. I tried emulating it with no success. It's not that of a big problem, because I can connect the phone as a storage device. However, I'd like to make some playlists, and apparently that's only possible with PC suite.I don't really mind generating the playlists by hand (maybe I can script it somehow) and for that purpose, I googled a lot for the playlist file format use by PC suite but I couldn't find anything. Can anyone tell me where I can find more info about the playlist file format or even provide a playlist file generated by PC suite ?It would be much appreciated, and if I can come up with a script in order to generate those same playlists from something like an .m3u playlist or something, I'll be sure to make it public.
what I liked most of Nokia PC suite was the possibility to export contacts in a .csv file. This was usefull to transfer contacts from a Nokia phone to another Nokia phone. For example I copied my N82 contact list to my Nokia5000 easily using a .csv export. How can I export my contact list in a .csv file using the new Nokia Ovi Suite !? (I've installed the lastest version).
When I want to sync my photos on my n900 onto my PC, it now dumps everything taken within the same month into the same folder. How do I change the folder naming convention/format, for example if I want everything taken today to be in its own folder as opposed to being mixed in with photos taken last week? This is a problem now because I use my N900 for photo taking a lot and the folder naming format does not match what I have always used in the past and continue to use with my regular digital camera. This was always an option in PC Suite, but doesn't appear to be an option in Ovi Suite, unless I'm missing something.
I had a contact list in my old nokia cell phone (3510i) but now since I've changed device, I want to transfer my contacts in the new cell phone. (6303 classic). I don't want to save the numbers in the sim card, since it isn't efficient as you all know (e.g. I want to have many numbers in each contact which is not permitted in the sim card storage etc). Moreover my old cell phone is... too old and it is not in any way connectable to the new one.
I have my full contact list in my computer, in an excel sheet ( .xls file). I tried to import the contact list using Nokia Suite, but I got an unexpected message, saying that the format is not compatible (although it should, according to the Suite manual). So, is there any way I could import my contact list (.xls file) in my 6303 classic? I don't want to do it manually. Is there maybe a converter, that could turn my excel sheet into a nokia compatible, contact-list, file type?
How to export all of the contacts from my phone into a format that I can view and make changes and then import back to the phone. I have had to many issues with my contacts. Some of them have been joined on the phone to better manage them, but I would like to export all the data make changes to it, then keep a master copy off of the phone.
I want to import calendar data to my 5800XM. I have already an .ics-file. How can I import this to the calendar in my mobile? I have tried to copy the file to the phone, but got an error message, that the file can't be opened.
Not sure if this has been discussed in the forum before but I am trying to import contacts birthdays into my calendar to come up as reminders on the day of the birthday. this used to works on my old phone and the old pc suite prior to updates, now it doesn't, any tips on how to achieve this without actually physically deleting each date and re saving?
I have just been given a 8900 as a replacement company phone, and in my stupidity I thought that now I have a 'smart' phone I can simply transfer my existing contact lists to my technological masterpiece . . . . well after spending 3 hours and reading till I am almost asleep I am none the wiser. I hope its just me being a dumbo . . . then again it could be RIM.
I have a Nokia E51 phone and I love its ability to manage contacts. Altough the phone and the internal software are great, the PC Suites made for it are not even close.I am talking especially about the Contacts editor that's part of Ovi. Let me explain why... I have ~300 contacts and for a bunch of them I added many phone numers. For example, I have a contact with 9 telephone numbers, 3 email addresses, etc, etc. Ovi is NOT ABLE TO READ NOR EDIT those contacts, because it can only read and edit 4 numbers! Why on Earth programmers at Nokia can't write a proper phone management program?I thought that a phone management software is supposed to make things easier for users when they edit their phone contacts database, but no! PC Suites and OVI look designed to manage photos and music! The hell with them!I bought an E-Series phone to use it as a phone, not as a kids gadget! Please, Nokia, make a decent Contacts editor for PC Suite or OVI, ok?
I have the latest version of Ovi Suite and I am syncing with my N5, about 2000 contacts. I have come across two instances where the phone number if a contact has been change. So for clarity the number of a contact has been mixed up with that for another contact.
I can use PC suite to achieve this but when browsing for my EXCEL file in which I wish to place them the PC screen will not find the file (which is there). I also wish to transfer the messages in a single line with the date etc on the left. How do I do that with PC Suite - it seems to transfer all messages in .nbu format?
Got the 6230i phone, and I use the Nokia PC suite to sync it with the PC. Now recently when my phone broke down and then replaced by a similar one, I've notice that my contact groups weren't backed up, and I had to enter them again manually. So checked PC suite, and saw it wasn't aware of contact groups at all, although according to its help, contact groups were supposed to be supported. Can anyone help with this?
I have a 6500c with various versions of PC Suite (latest being 126.96.36.199) and when i try and sync with Outlook the sync shows as successful, but only 1 out of the 190 contacts sync.I have tried Outlook 2003 AND 2007 with the same result. Also if i try and look at the contacts in Nokia Communication Centre the same single contact is shown and when I refresh the contacts, I do not see any more?
I have a user who has a personal blackberry - not enterprise setup. He wants to extract those contacts and import it to a Blackberry thats on enterprise server. I've already extracted his old contacts into a .ipd file. How do I import this into Outlook or to his new Blackberry?
I'm using Nokia PC Suite 188.8.131.52, Nokia E63 and Outlook 2007 Enterprise Edition.i have problems in sync.. sync process it self succesfully for CALENDAR, TASK, MEMO.. only for CONTACTS didn't add my email record to Nokia E63 Contacts.or am i missing something here.I tried looked in sync properties for each CALENDAR, TASK, MEMO.. nothing appears to give me any clue.is there some kind of record mapping that i can setup in PC Suite ?
I just got the 9630 Tour, yesterday. Girl at Verizon was good enough to set up my work email. And my 12 year old was good enough to explain a lot of things to me. My question: Can I import contact info from my Palm Z22 into my 9630? So far no good. I installed the BB software, and clicked on the 'transfer' or 'input' button, but no go. Also once I get contact info into my new BB, can I view it on my computer, like I do with my Palm software? This reliable piece of software has been my phone book on my computer for many years.
I have backed up data via Desktop Manager for a Curve 8520 which has recently been stolen. I would like to import only the Contact List contained in that back up data from the stolen device to a new Curve 8520. However I do not see any method to do that other than to "Import Files" to the new Curve from the backup data via Desk Top Manager from PC. Is that possible or is that not the mechanism to accomplish this??
Blackberry Storm 9530 v184.108.40.206(Platform 220.127.116.11), carrier - Verizon Wireless. I am trying to enter a contact in the following format: 123-456-7890PPP#12345PPxyzab The P = 2 second pauses
In the last part of the entry (xyzab) they are all digits and have multiple 0 in the entry. When I look at the entry in contacts it is showing properly. When I dial the contact, the 0's are ignored and only the non-0 entries are sent. Does anyone have any thoughts on how to correct this and get all the digits to send? I have tried encasing the problem part of the entry in (), but that has not resolved the issue. I took the phone to a local Verizon store and stumped the staff.
I am having 2 problems with my contact list of Blackjack. I have bunch of contacts with first name and last name. But default Blackjack shows the contacts in the format: Last, First name. If I want it to show as a First Last format, I have to manually edit each contact, scroll all the way down and change File as: option to First Last. Is there a way to just set the default format to First Last? Also, how do I change the default number of a specific contact?
I used the Ovi suite to install the free maps on my E72 which work great but the software itself is very poorly written, too many bugs and problems so i would like to uninstall it and use the PC suite instead. can I now update my phone using the PC suite with it's updater software or do I have to now rely on the Ovi suite.
The reason I ask instead of having two pieces of software is i want to a Vista/XP (two machines) clean install followed by a Ghost DVD so the smaller image the better (plus i dont like to have **bleep** installed on my machine:-)
How can I make my nokia E71 sync back with PC Suite after I started using OVI Suite? I have a Nokia E71, and i was using Nokia PC Suite to sync it with my outlook 2007 it all worked fine, contacts, to do notes and calendar (i wasn't syncing mail cuase i use gmail), untill the new ovi suite came out and i decided to try it since It sounded better.turns out It really sucked this ovi suite!! one of the worst softwares I've ever used, it duplicated all of the appointments that had color categories in outlook 2007, it is dead slow to sync!!!(i mean reeeaaly slow), even tough the Suite integrates more stuff in to one place it has reduced funcionality to sync stuff with my phone, it offers less funtions, not to mention that the user interface sukcs (its poorly desingned, it takes long to accses stuff, it shows me stuff as if it was advertisement).PC suite was very simple but funcional, oviously i went back to pc suite, to my surprise i couldn't sync, pc suite & the phone would do as if they were syncing, but when i checked at the end it wouldn't sync stuff.
