Nokia Navigation :: 5800 Set Integrated GPS Only - Free?
Jan 20, 2012
Well I've had this PREPAY ph for 4 years and as far as I know, if I don't select A-GPS, it doesn't use data - until recently! (Maps V3.06 - maybe I've updated this recently). Is this possible or have I made an error somewhere?Settings: Positioning> Assisted GPS = Off, Integrated GPS = ON, Bluetooth GPS = Off, Wi-Fi/Network = Off, Network based = Off.But on two recent test trips, my prepay balance reduces by exactly $1 and my Log>Data counter shows about 500 kB received (less sent as I recall - zeroed since). Note: $1 is standard Voda daily data rate per day in NZ up to 1 MB.So I'm pretty sure the GPS is costing me $1/day even though I have A-GPS et al switched off! In both tests I ensured I have not used the phone for anything but navigation (using Walk navigation with voice).
iv finaly managed to dwnload maps on my 5800,on start up the voice gives one command then says buy liscence, how do i overcome this?its says my liscence expired and when i upadte it gives me the price.
Integrated GPS is not working on my New N8 with anna. I tried Hard rest and even Google maps. OVI works with A-gps but position is highly inaccurate. I can see a notification which says GPS available but no satellites are locked. Confirmed this with Google maps. I
Ovi map 3.03 for S60 V3.1 with free navigation has been released on China's Nokia official website..When I select E72 and click on the "download" button, the file name is "nokia_ maps_ 3[1]. 03_ 10wk11_ b04_ s60_ 3.1_ rom_china.NOCS.sis", which is totally different from the file downloaded from Nokia Europe.I successfully installed it in my E71 and it automatically became English UI. I test the navigation for walk or drive, it's completely free of charges. You just need to download the map and voice with map loader.Don't be confused by the file name.It will automatically adapt the language on your phone!!
I got the E73 yesterday, and in the box is a thing for a free Navigation kit, but when I go to the website, there is no Navigation Kit, or Maps listed for my phone?
I Have an E71 Are you going to give Free Navigation for the E71 anytime soon? Because its very frustrating to offer this service to just 10 phones and the rest have to pay to use it!!! You should offer free navigation to All or most of GPS included nokia phones
I am trying to get free navigation for my N97 but all my attempts fail, I have V3.01 but can not get the newer versions through SW Update or any other method.
Phone Details: Software Version : 21.0.045 Model : N97
I was really disapointed that E90 wasn't on supported models list. When this free feature will be available also for Nokia e90 communicator? Or will it be ever?
I am disappointed on N82 navigation does not work for free. The problem is similar as on N958GB
"I have downloaded the maps and free navigation for my N95 and it works for a while. After about one minute of navigation, it asks permission to go on line and enter the shop. I say "OK". It then tells me it can not go online, even though I am connected by USB or using the wi fi.Then it stops navigation but leaves the GPS/maps running. I have used the options to visit the shop when not using navigation and on line and it tells me that no license updates are available. So, in conclusion, navigation does work on the N82 and not free of charge. Any ideas on getting around this?"
There is problem in my nokia n82 I after navigation become free i tried to udate it to ovi 3 and downloaded last maps however after while from navigation i informed to get liecence i do not know why? nokia say that navigation is free now why it ask for licence?

Nokia OVI Maps - Free Navigation Mobile navigation for everyone, the Ovi Maps takes you where you want to be and shows you what you want see, with navigable maps for over 70 countries worldwide. All this with only one click. And it's all free. - Free Drive navigation - Free Walk navigation - Free maps and map updates - Free Events guides - Free Lonely Planet guides - Free Michelin guides You thought Garmin and TomTom were in trouble when Google announced its free Navigation service? Wait until investors hear Nokia's news.Reuters is reporting that Nokia will offer free navigation on its smartphones. However, instead of just the US (the current Google limitation sans hacking), Nokia will be demonstrating its reach by offering free turn-by-turn directions in 74 countries and 46 languages - a move that should cover 20 million smartphones globally with Ovi Maps available in over 180 countries Update: The original San Francisco Chronicle report has been pulled but Google cache caught a bit more saying that Nokia's navigation service is "capable of operating completely offline" unlike Google Navigation which requires data connectivity. Update 2: Nokia just made the download link live. Hey, where's the N97 and N900. Update 3: And it's official. Starting today, Ovi Maps walk and drive navigation is free across the globe. Drivers receive turn-by-turn voice guidance including lane assistance, traffic information (in 10 countries including the US), and safety camera and speed warnings while pedestrians will be guided on shortcuts through parks and pedestrian-only zones in over 100 cities across the globe. It all works offline too, which should extend battery life and keep that navigation humming even while puttering about in data dead zones without racking up international roaming charges (take that, Google). From March 2010, all new Nokia GPS enabled smartphones will come installed with the new Ovi Maps application and pre-loaded with local country map data and walk and drive navigation with access to location-aware Lonely Planet and Michelin travel guides at no extra cost. Additional premium guides like a weather service and events / movies are also included. Just 10 devices from Nokia's massive catalog are available today a list that includes the N97 Mini, 5800 XpressMusic, 5800 navigation edition, E52, E55, E72, 5230, 6710 navigator, 6730 classic and X6. I am happy to annouce that Ovi Maps 3.03 is now available for the N97. To get Free Navigation on your device please take the following steps: 1) Check that you have the latest N97 FW: 20.0.019. Learn how to check your current version and update at www.nokia.com/softwareupdate?n97 2)Once you have this firmware, you can go to Software Update on your device and the new version will appear for download. You should also be prompted as you open the Maps application on your device (online connection required).
Why is the nokia free navigation not available on the n96. i understand its not available on the n97 due to the FW having bugs but that is being resolved, Does anyone no when it will be available for the n96 I dont pretend to know everything like some people on these boards i am just trying to help. Its not all about the kudos.
I just got a T-Mobile branded X6, and whenever I connect it to Ovi Suite it says there is a new version of maps available; 3.01(32). I've already got this version installed and whenever I choose install it always says that it's available for install again. More importantly, it's not showing 3.03 with the free navigation, which is one reason I chose this phone. I have the latest firmware installed. Is it because it's a branded phone and will debranding it to a normal edition allow me to install 3.03?.
Why there is no lifetime driving license in N97 just like 5800 Navigation Edition. Is someone is paying $600 for a phone then the user should get something for that value. Nokia should consider giving free license just like navigation edition.
Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition Firmware: 31.2.101 RM-428 TomTom Go 720 Ohio, USA.
Can someone guide me on using the FREE maps and Navigation feature on the Nokia Communicator e90 ? I have updated to Maps 3.0 but it still does not allow me to use the navigation feature saying "it's a premium facility" and I need to pay.
Having done a bit of research, I would just like to clarify things in respect to my phone which is a Nokia 6220 classic, running S60 3rd edition. I double checked the version against the list here: http://www.zedge.net/forum/t/27995/s40-s60-or-s80-find-out-here/
And also in the phone itself. Am I correct to expect that running S60 gives me a good chance of getting the free navigation upgrades that have been talked about here? I'm not in any particular hurry; but if its likely that the upgrade is not coming, then I won't have to check back here every few days. Someone posted elsewhere that upgrades (for S60 devices?) were coming "in the first half of the year". Is that just rumour, or has Nokia said something official about it?
I'm using a N97 with V 21.0.045 firmware. According to what advertised, I should have free lifetime navigation. Now it says that my license has expired.
I am glad to know that free navigation is given to all E series expect 63 & 71. Its bizzare, since its the most used phones. Is it possible to provide free navigation license for E63, which i am using.
Does anyone know how to get a free navigation licence for 6303 now that ovi maps are free? My phone has pre-installed nokia maps, but navigation is not free.
Does 5235 support free nav? Here - http://maps.nokia.com/ovi-services-and-apps/ovi-maps/free-downloads?intc=ncomexpserv-fw-ilc-bdy-con-... 5235 is in the list and over here http://www.nokia-asia.com/explore-services/ovi-maps/free-downloads?intc=ncomexpserv-fw-ilc-lft-con-n... 5235 isn't listed. Could any one tell me why is it so? Does it support free nav or not?
Please thank me by giving 'KUDOS' star. It will help me to serve you better.Currently using N82 and 5230. Next would be N?
I don't seem to get the free navigation activated for my N78. When ever I start the navigation, after a few seconds it gives message that your license has expired and you need to go to use shop to buy new one ! I did in the past have installed the free navigation licenses which were made available from Nokia. I am interested in getting this free navigation working on my N78. (I live in Mumbai-India) Best Regards, Neelesh I have installed new Nokia Maps from the site, also have Latest Map Loader 3.0.24.0 Nokia Maps About v3.01 09wk44 b01 MW OpenGL LM MN Map version 0.1.23.112 OpenBitLM 6.22.5 Details about my N78 Software Version : 21.002 Software Version Date: 10-03-09 Custom Version: 21.002.051.1 Custom Version Date: 18-02-09 Language Set : 013 Model : N78 Type: RM-235 Latest Update: 7/2/2010
Nokia 5235 comes with music has free navigation or not?i bought the mobile this week. The dealer said there's free navigation for lifetime . is this true ? whether gprs is needed to use this free navigation ?
I notice the recent Nokia announcement that navigation is now free on all it's S60 based phones. However, I just purchased a new Nokia 6700 Classic (Which has built in A-GPS, Nokia Maps pre-loaded & full offline Australia maps), but it runs S40 Software. At the moment it appears Nokia still wants to charge me for turn-by-turn voice navigation. It seems a little unfair that the free navigation will only be offered on the S60 handsets when all Nokia have to do is send a free license code to S40 maps users to enable us to do the same.
I'm currently using 'We-Travel' on my Nokia 6700 which is a free 'Offline' GPS application. I'd much prefer to use Nokia's own maps software for navigation, but it's too expensive. Does Nokia have any intention of making the free navigation available on the 6700 classic, or will users of non-S60 handsets still have to pay for this function?
