Nokia :: 5800 Refusing To Play Downloaded Music Without License
May 20, 2009
The only music I can play on my new 5800 is the music that was already pre-loaded. I have no difficulty adding items from Windows Media Player into the music library, but when I go to play a track, a message comes up stating:"Unable to acquire license. Unknown content provider."I'm using the 'Media Transfer' mode as per the phone instructions.
I have had problems with my phone for quite a while now, but last night I reset the phone and everythings fine now except for on thing! My music won't play because it took the licenses off! I have 173 songs so that's QUITE a lot.
Could someone please post the license file for music of 5800. Mine is not working after firmware update. I took my phone to the nokia care center but he didnt have the license file. so he told me he will send me over mail but that didnt happen.
Anyways here is the instruction he gave:- 1.When he send me the key, I need to copy this in the import folder on memory drive. 2. shutdown the phone, remove battery. 3. put back the batter and start the phone. 4. Music should work.
Recently bought the Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic Comeswithmusic above which I love generally, but it wont let me transfer any 'comeswithmusic' obtained tracks to my phone, it keeps saying I need a license (track transferred with one error).....I only bought it a week ago!! Ive looked at a few of the other posts and it mentions something about formatting the memory, but Im loathe to unless I know its defintely the right solution.....Ive been transferring with Nokia Music as the software and the softwares all up to date.
i had transferred my music downloaded on my phone to my pc but was unable to play it on the pc then i registered my pc on the ovi player still cant play the files it says that the songs are protected under microsoft VRM & needs small update which i tried to run but it continues to say that cant connect to internet whereas i m connected to the internet.
also the musc i had trasferred on to my pc when i m trying to transfer the files back to my device the pc it does not allow me & says that this content requires licence...
I've bought my Nokia 5800 a year ago.Recently I've been facing an annoying Problem.Sometimes my friends and I like to exchange music. The only problem is that when they send me music.I can play it from my inbox BUT i cannot save it.there is no option button as well !! its only play and pause.
I have just recently got my 5800 and i must say i love it!!! I do have a couple of issues though. My car has bluetooth built into it which the phone connects to straight away.If i want to play music on the phone when connected to the car it will not play. it is though the phone is on silent. If i plug my auxiliary lead in it works that way.
I moved some MP3 files to my BB and can see them on my media card. I can play them on my phone when I go to music. I have assigned one as a ringtone for my phone, I edited my 'normal' phone settings, browsed to Phone, Out of Holster section, changed option, was able to browse to my music folder on my media card, selected the file and it shows up as the ringtone for my phone. Did this for both out of hoster and in holster options. But when I get calls the standard T-Mobile jingle thing plays. I have deleted the file and gone through the steps twice, but still no luck. It 'looks' like it should work, but it just doesn't.
Is it possible to play mp3s or your own downloaded music as the alarm ring tone? When I go to the settings of the alarm, and click the drop-down menu of the available alarm alerts, it only lists the sounds that come with the phone.
I purchased a nokia N8 with a ovi music unlimited package.Initially everything was fine but some days latter suddenly whenever I download songs through Ovi player and transfer them to Nokia N8, the phone dosent play them and says 'Licence expired or missing. Get new license?' and then each song takes a minute or so to get a new licence key.
I was just wondering as to whether the 5800 comes with a 90 day trial license for nokia maps, as I have been reading in some other forums that most new phones come with this, and that some people are stating that they have this on the 5800, but when I try to use the navigation on my 5800 it asks me to buy it, and there is no trial available.
I linked the phone to my PC, and opened the Nokia Map Loader software, then downloaded maps for England, Scotland and Wales, with an English Voice, and I paid for a 30 day Walk License, which is now listed in my licenses on the Nokia Map Loader software screen. HOWVER - I can't get my phone to give me voice directions for love nor money and it does NOT list the license in its screens, claiming I don't have any. I can't seem to find a way to get the phone to sync with the software on the PC, or to recognize the license, so I have seemingly spent £5.99 or whatever it was for nothing.
I bought Nokia 5800 from Dubai and was assured it has free 3 months navigation license in middle east. To my surprise, when i activated the license it showed Free license for UK & Ireland. It is abs useless to me as i live in middle east region. My first point is how can Nokia provide free navigation license of UK for products sold in UAE. Cant it detect online, where the phone is getting registered or ask for the region to get the License for. Is there any way to transfer the license to other region of ones choice. Request Nokia folks to look in this issue. The navigation is useless for me.
1. Within 2 weeks of purchase, the earpiece was not functioning well. I took the handset to Akshay Telecom, FC Road, Pune and they repaired the earpiece. However, after the phone was opened, I noted dust particles in the display, and same can be seen till date. Earpiece problem has been a worldwide problem
2. The Nokia maps license simply "disappeared". Note that I was supposed to get 90 days free licence. I made over 50 calls, registered complaints (refer to call reference numbers 2-3QWR71, 2-3RDU7L, 2 2-3RSLYD and 1-6912363409). Nokia contacted me and gave me a 1 month licence (no CD 6114 8134 8726) till the time they were investigating the issue. However, no-one contacted me till date.
3. Since a week, I have display problems. - fuzzy lines seen (this problem is worldwide - refer to
Ovi software wants to renew license on my downloade music, but as my lisence is expired I can't do that. I understood thet I can use downloaded music after license expired. Sent several mails ro Nokia without answer...
Why does all the downloaded music go directly to the f: memory card, when downloading music from Ovi Music Store? It should be saved to the e: mass memory, but there is no settings in the application where to change the save location?. The phone automatically makes a folder named "Ovi Music Downloads" in the memory card. It should be created in the mass memory.
I have a song that i downloaded from the Ovi music store and transfered it to my Nokia 5230. It stated that i did not have the correct license to listen to it and that i should try to get it over air. It then leads me onto the internet where i have to enter in my Ovi store username and password, i enter in the correct details but it tells me that i need to allow cookies to access the next page, the only problem is that i have already allowed cookies, why does it not recognize this?
I've just got a 6600 slide and would like to try maps before I buy it. I have requested a free navigation license, but when I try to use it, I get a message that the license is invalid. What do I have to do to be able to use it?
My Nokia 5310 Comes with music was working fine, but then I decided to fill it up, which I did tonight. At the end all the music stopped working and it said it needed to download licence. I thought okay that's odd I will reload the music. Now I when I try to transfer music from my PC I get an error with no explanation, but once it said my device was not registered. Everything worked previously, and I'm logged in to Nokia Music and the internet works (otherwise I would not be able to post this). The phone still has the original SIM card in and nothing has changed on it.
I've one all the switching off and switching on again. Could there just be a problem with the server, but it is not just that I can't play my current music, I can't play anything I've downloaded to the phone. This bothers me, I have downloaded quite a lot of music more than my 2gb card, and over the year I would think I will certainly download more than the 4gb max card size. This is a pain. Is it a faulty phone? Are the Nokia servers down? How long am I going to be without my music.
As there appear to be some UK 5800 owners with this problem. How about - for those people that have phones locked on a providers software/firmware and the map license has expired (like me on 3 in the UK at 30.0.011) that Nokia give us a free license for the current version?
