May 24, 2012Im trying to restore my iphone 3G, i used itunes to restore it so it downloaded the iOS, after that it gives me the error 1015, when i read about the error then it tells me that i was downgrading, but how come since i used itunes to restore? why didnt it automatically provide me with the latest software made perfectly for the iPhone?

Jun 26, 2012While upgrading my iPhone 3GS to iOS 4.2 something went wrong and came up with the message "The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred [1015]" Now it will not start at all. It just stays on screen with USB and the iTune picture. What can I do to get it going again. I only tried to upgrade because I was prompted to up-grade and now I am helpless. I did a backup before starting the upgrade. The error message did not tell what to do next.

Mar 20, 2012Was given an iphone by a friend who said it weren't working anymore. Tried to get it into recovery mode to install IOS 4.2.3 (I think, anyway - doesn't show the version number now?) with iTunes 10.5.3.3 Went through the update process but then dropped out with error code 1015. From googling it seems that this is when a phone has been jailbroken... My friend bought this off someone a while ago and says the person who had it before did this with Cydia... and has only really used it as an ipod themselves so hasn't noticed anything. The phone still sits at the black apple logo screen.
