I have a brand new 3gs, my spouse jailbroke it and I was in cydia when it asked me to update. I did and then my iphone just crashed to the recovery screen. We tried several times to do a restore last night and it just always comes back with an error code 3014.
I'm a new iPhone user, but was able to jailbreak my iPhone without much trouble. I then showed a buddy. He of course wanted to do it also, but when i tried helping him we can't get it done.He has the iPhone 3G (8GB) with the 2.2 firmware (same as mine). He has had the phone for a while, but updates regularly with iTunes.I'm using the same quickpwn 2.2 Windows file (DL'ed from www.quickpwn.com) I used, but quickpwn stalls when we try and jailbreak his phone. Here's the steps we've taken so far:
1.) First time I tried to jailbreak it, I was stuck on the first quickpwn screen where quickpwn was not detecting the iphone at all (or at least the iPhones' firmware)
2.) I then followed a suggestion to download the actual 2.2 firmware file and manually point quickpwn to that file. This did get me passed the first screen of quickpwn where it was trying to detect my buddy's firmware.
3.) Then quickpwn just stalled on the next screen where it tried to get the phone in recovery mode. At this point, Quickpwn does put the phone into recovery mode, but quickpwn doesn't seem to detect that it is in fact in recovery mode and never moves on to the next step of instructing me to put the iPhone in DFU mode.
So it seems from my newbie take on this, that the quickpwn program isn't communicating correctly with the iPhone. It doesn't automatically detect my phone's firmware and then doesn't detect that the phone is in recovery mode when in fact it is. So, how can I get the quickpwn program to communicate correctly with my phone so I can complete the jailbreak process?
To be clear, step 10 in this tutorial is where quickpwn stalls on me:URL...I never get passed the:"Wait for your iPhone to connect in recovery mode..."
I have a launch day iPhone here in 1.0.2, normal baseband, normal IMEI, but stuck in Recovery Mode. I've tried quite a few combinations of iTunes software and iPhone software restores, but none have worked. I can't even do a straight update to 1.1.3, since it's "recovering."
I just bought a 8gb iPhone 2g from a member on this site. This is my first iPhone so I'm not up to date with all the stuff on it. It needed a new battery.I got it but it wouldn't turn on, just would show the charging screen with 1 red bar when connected via USB. I have since removed the battery but when I go to turn it on, it shows the itunes with USB cable on it and I open up iTunes and try to do a update and restore, it always fails.
I've been googling and trying everything I could find for the last few hours with no luck.I have the battery removed now as the one I purchased seems to be defective so I don't get the charging status screen anymore.
I've tried many different methods, but my iphone is stuck in recovery mode. I've tried different versions of iTunes, and different firmware versions, but it always fails. I've tried restarting the computer as well as the iphone.
When loading iTunes this morning an update that I had been putting off popped up and I figured since I was going to be in the house for a while I'd finally do it. An error took place that I foolishly ignored and made no note of.†
My iPhone is now stuck in Recovery mode (I assume so anyway, after having googles my problem for hours), iTunes tells me I need to restore the phone and so I click to allow it to. It then gets to the "Preparing iPhone for restore" and just sits there, doing nothing.†
After my daughter dropped my phone on the floor (surprisingly the screen didn't crack), the screen went black and I could not turn the phone back on. This was not the first time that this happened to me and I fixed it by plugging it in to my car charger. I tried that this time and it did come back on but the place where my signal strength bars should be said 'searching'. After a short while, a message came up saying that my phone needed to be restored and† to connect it to iTunes.
My phone would not come on unless it was plugged into a charger, other than that the screen was black (and still does that). The apple screen will show and then the usb cord connecting to iTunes symbol comes up and it will go passed that screen.
I connected to iTunes, and found out that my phone was in recovery mode and needed to be restored. I tried to restore several times and the same thing happens. iTunes will begin the process (extracting files first) after that part is complete and iTunes starts the next step of preparing the phone for restoring, my phone will go black as if it shut off and then the apple screen comes on and then the usb cord connecting to iTunes shows up and then iTunes delivers the error21 code. I've tried pressing the home button and lock button at the same time for seconds and then holding the home button blah blah but it does me no good because I can't get my phone to do anything unless its connected to a charger or the computer.
My phone has been stuck for two weeks.† I am not covered by Apple therefore they won't do anything, but sell me a brand new phone.† If I could afford one, I would bypass them and just upgrade.† Unfortunately, I am not capable at this time.† I have tried everything provided by the "help" on iTunes.† I get ERROR CODE: 21 every time it goes to try to recover.† I tried doing everything it said to help fix this error, but nothing works.†
Well my phone is stuck on recovery mode and I tried restoring it but it keep on ending up with error 1611. I tried everything I could online I search everything and tried almost everything none turned out to work . I have a iphone 4gs on ios5.
my iphone 4s had an update under settings so i did and now its stuck in recovery mode. In itunes it says i have to restore, but will i get back all of my contacts, pics, apps, etc? will it give the option to get them back?
My iphone 4 is stuck in recovery mode. I was trying to update via iTunes and when I came back the iphone had the picture of the iTunes logo and the cable and the computer stated iphone stuck in recovery mode must restore.  I don't want to restore as I will lose everything.  Everywhere I read it says you have to power off then hold this button etc etc.the problem is I cant power off to do this?
Ok so I followed the steps on various web pages and on the forum in order to upgrade to 2.2 and jailbreak. Everything in pwnagetool 2.2 was going well put it in expert mode, booted it up to 1000, built the ipsw. Restored phone, put it into recovery mode, option clicked "restore" selected ipsw built from pwnage and it starts up then, "iphone could not be restored an unknown error (21) occured" rebuilt the ipsw twice now and still the same thing. I don't know what else to do I am stuck and desperate for a solution.
So my problem started yesterday when my phone got wet, not fell on water but water fell on it. I opened it up and dried it up, but when i connected it it wouldnt turn back on. So this morning i tried turning it on and it did.So my problem is that the phone is stuck in recovery mode, before that it just got stuck in the apple logo till i tried restoring it.
Itunes gives me error 6 and sometimes 13.i dont care what i have to do i just want my phone to work, i have att so i dont care about the baseband.
I've got a 3GS which was 3.1.3. I had to restore because a few apps wouldnt load properly. When I restore and it finishes it comes up with the itunes & cable screen and iTunes says its in recovery mode (error 1015) and i must restore it - again.I've tried a couple of things including irecovery but my PC is a win7 64bit system and it kind of killed off all my USB ports. I've tried on a Vista Machine and also tried on iTunes 9.1 and the new Beta.
Will Apple sort it out? Will they send it off or replace it if they cant get it working again? It's only got a few days left on the warranty
I tried to update my JB'd 2.0 iphone to 2.1. First I kept getting the apple screen of death, the spinner would keep spinning and then eventually stop. then I decided to restore back to the old version, since 2.1 obviously isn't working. Halfway through "preparing for itunes restore," it says that there "Iphone could not be restored. unknown error occurred".
I'm wondering if someone can shed some insight on my problem, I got the latest itunes 9.0, restored my iphone so i'm guessing that it uploaded 3.01 Firmware on my phone, then i ran redsnow .7, it looks as though redsnow finishes? It stays at the downloading jailbreak screen, then it reboots into emergency mode. Does anyone know where i should go from here to activate my phone?
I have a 3GS running 3.1.2 and BB 05.11.07. I believe my phone is stuck in recovery mode. It's black and has the Apple logo on it. Is there a way I can fix this issue without restoring the phone? I don't want to install 3.1.3
I got my iphone 4 updated to ios 5 months ago and it was successful. However, i was updating my software to ios 5.1 using the phone itself and it went into recovery mode after that. The moment before updating it was fine and now it stuck in recovery mode, showing the itunes logo and usb cable.
I connected my phone to the itunes on my laptop and it shows that my iphone is in recovery mode and must be restored. I've tried restoring it but after the restoration cycle was done, it pop up a window saying there's an error (1) occuring and my iphone was unable to be restored.
Info:iPhone 4, iOS 5.1, update and recovery failed
Yesterday my sister told me she had a problem with her iPhone. She was on 5.1.0 and updated OTA to 5.1.1. When the update was done, her iPhone rebooted and displayed the 'connect to iTunes' screen. She gives it to me, I do what I can and after several restores the only thing that shows up after a restore is the 'connect to iTunes' screen. In iTunes, it says it's in recovery mode and needs restoring....again.
I started to upgrade my ios today. Next time I pulled my phone out it wouldn't respond. After holding the home screen the connect to iTunes image popped up and wouldn't go away. When I got home and connected, I was told to restore. I did so, and after the thirty-minute software update, it was now returned to the connect to iTunes screen and is giving me the same message upon connecting to iTunes.
My iPhone 4 got wet and when plugged in it displays plug into itunes but when I do it doesn't recognize it. The computer aknowleges that I plug it in because it installed the driver but itunes and tinyumbrella do not so I can't get it out of recovery mode with either nor with the button combo. Any idea why it won't work or have a way to fix it?
Now my phone is stuck in recovery mode after an update. I get unknown error 1403 after itunes tries to restore the phone for more than 10 minutes. Any way to fix? The help article for error 1403 just tells me to connect to itunes. Connecting to itunes tells me to restore, when I hit the restore button, it updates for a loooooong time then says "unable to restore, unknown error (1403).
This morning I connected my iPhone 3GS to my computer and itunes told me it couldn't recognize my phone and needed to restore. This had never happened before but I clicked restore anyways but recieved an error message. After about an hour of trial and error going through Apple's diagnostics I fixed the problem by enabling Itunes in Norton Security, which had just updated recently so I thought that was the issue. Itunes began letting me begin the restore process (without showing an error/failure message) but simply freezes every time halfway through the update. Each time the bar at the top will will up about halfway and then stop forever. If anyone can help me with this issue I would really appreciate it! Obviously I use my phone everyday and it is completely unusable in it's current state.
