IPhone :: New 3Gs - Text Message Alerts Sounds Funny
I have the same text message tone as I did on my 3G the "Tri-Tone". Anyways whenever I receive a text message alert it the alert sounds quite a bit different than it it did on my 3G and everyone elses phone. It sounds like its distorted or something.

IPhone :: Does Any Model Allow User To Set Text Alerts Indefinitely Until The Text Message Is Read
I'm thinking of abandoning the I-Phone altogether because of two annoyances that get only worse, not better, with time. But if any newer I-Phone (I currently have the 3GS) has removed these annoyances, I will upgrade.
1. I want txt alerts to continue (every minute or two) until I have opened and read a text message. Does any model I-Phone allow for this?
2. I want to disable predictive text as I don't like the I-Phone algorhthym for this -- it causes me endless grief. Which model allows for this?
3. I want my battery to last a minimum of 2 days without charging (I've tried all the usual ways of reducing battery consumption and the result does not meet my needs). Does any model I-Phone allow for this?

IPhone :: ILife 08 - Text Message Sounds
way to put our own text message sounds on the iPhone. i gotta admit, with technology where it is today, im truly disappointed in my friends at apple for going out of the way to prevent me from being able to cusomize the different ringers and text sounds without them being songs and having to buy them or having to buy the new iLife 08' to use the new garageband, if that even works. im tired of listening to the same 6 text message sounds over and over... come on STEVE JOBS, give us the ability that every other cell phone maker does with a 20 dollar phone and allow us to use whatever ringers we want for calls and text messages.

IPhone :: 2.2 Text Message Alerts On Lock Screen
Has anyone else noticed that when "Show SMS Preview" is off and you get a text message, it shows the person's name now? In 2.1 it only said "New Text Message. Now it says the person's name and new text message, like it did in 2.0 and before. Is it possible to change it to not show the person's name? I might downgrade to 2.1 because of this.

IPhone :: 3G - Text Message Alert Sounds Disappear 3G
I dunno if anyone else is having the same problem, but. I got the iPhone 3G over the weekend, and I've noticed that my text-message alert sounds kind of go away. The phone will vibrate, but the alerts don't sound off. Before you say anything, Yes the phone is on Loud (it's not on Vibrate), Yes my text message alerts are enabled in settings, Yes I've double checked. So far the only way I've been able to fix this is to restart the phone.. which can get really annoying when you do it over and over. I THINK that it's caused by the headphones.. I've noticed that the text alerts work, but when I plug in the headphones and then unplug them the sounds stop working.

IPhone :: 3GS - Least Intrusive Way To Modify The Text Message Received Sounds
My only frustration with the iPhone is the lack of ability to customize the "text message received" sound with clips from my own collection. I believe that the only way to modify these sounds is through SSH, which requires jailbreaking my iPhone. However, I'm worried that jailbreaking my iPhone will compromise my ability to develop and distribute apps in Apple's iPhone Developer Program.
1) I would like to avoid the problem if possible. Are there any non-jailbreaking paths I can take to modify the sound files?
2) If not, could I perhaps jailbreak my phone, modify the sound files, then revert to a non-jailbroken state with the modified sound files in tact?
3) If not, can I participate in the Apple Developer Program with a jailbroken iPhone?

LG :: Xenon Text Message Alerts
Looking at buying this phone, but can anyone tell me if it is possible to assign different ringtones for incoming text messages based on the contact info, similar to, but independent from assigning different ringtones for incoming calls.
Wife call - ringtone 1
Wife text - ringtone 2
Work (group of contacts) call - ringtone 3
Work (group of contacts) text - ringtone 4
Default (Other) callers - ringtone 5
Default (Other) text - ringtone 6
I used to be able to have different text alert sounds assigned on my old LG325, and just wondering if this phone has a similar feature.I find a lot of phones including my current Samsung Vice have only one ringtone for all text messages, which is annoying because I can't prioritize checking my incoming text messages, and have to look at every message to see if it's important.

IPhone :: 4S, No Sounds On Alerts Or Texts?
I did the most recent update for May23, 2012 and since I updated the phone I no longer am receiving sounds on alerts or incoming texts. Also when i type on the keyboard, there is no sound. My music works no problem and when I test the ring tones, they all come up on the speaker, but my phone now only vibrates when there's a new text. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I have checked all my settings, reset the phone and everything and still no sound.

Samsung :: BJ2 Text Message Alerts Question
Hey all, I have a BJ2 that I am able to put my own .mp3 ringtones on and also use the .mp3's as message alerts. The problem I am having is when I use them as message alerts, the music plays til the end of the song every time, even after I hit the button to read the message.
I used my phone explorer and ceregeditor to increase the size of the allowed file for the ringtone. Is there a way to make it so the song stops when I read the message?

Motorola :: RAZR2 Text Message Sounds
Just got a new Razr2 V9. I know that with my old V3, if I assigned a custom ring tone to a contact, the text message sound would also use the same ringtone. The problem was that I couldn't tell whether it was a text or phone call based on the alert. This was a recognized issue with the V3's an couldn't be changed.I was hoping that the V9 would have this fixed. I can't seem to find a way to make a contact have a custom ring tone and a separate custom text message sound.

BB Curve 83xx :: Message And Email Text Alerts
On my 8330 Curve I get a teeny icon at the top of the screen for message/email alerts. (I get audio also, but don't always hear it). Is there any way to get additional text somewhere further down the screen? I don't always look at the top when I'm in a hurry, it's so small.

BB Storm 9500 :: Text Message Alerts Not Alerting Properly?
I have my Text Message Alerts set up to make an audible sound as well as flash the LED. The first time I receive a text message from a contact (Bob for example) the phone will alert properly (audible and LED). But, any subsequent text messages from that same contact (Bob) will only flash the LED but not make an audible sound. I have found that as long as their is an existing text message in my box from Bob (read or unread) no audible sound is made. If I delete all text messages from Bob from my box it will alert properly. How can I make the phone alert for every text message received, regardless of their being an existing text message from a contact.

Samsung :: G600 Way To Change My Text Message Alert Sounds
I've had my G600 for a while and I'm running into some annoyances:
Is there any way to turn off missed call/text message continuous alert? I set it Message Alert Repitition to 'Once' but it doesn't seem to make any changes, it keeps vibrating all day until I check it.
Also, if I get a missed call and don't answer it, after it's done vibrating in Silent mode, a quiet but noticeable chime will go off when they have hung up. What the hell is that all about, it's supposed to be Silent mode. Any way to get rid of that? Is there any way to change my text message alert sounds? When I 'Add Words' when I'm composing a text message, the phone doesn't even save the added words to a dictionary. I have to 'Add Words' again every damn time! When I get a voicemail 'text' message, it will show on the home screen that I received a text message from the PREVIOUS text message I received, and not from 'Voicemail'. I also get missed call alerts on the home screen from people that didn't call me. Do you guys get these problems too and how do I fix them? This is the buggiest phone I've ever used.

BB Storm 9530/9500 :: Make Voicemail Alerts Different Than Sms Message Alerts
I was very annoyed that I got a "text message" whenever I recieved a voicemail. I was being alerted by the same tone as my sms messages, so it led me to think I had a text message (especially since it is borat telling me I have one). I tried and tried to get it to either go away, or better yet play a different tone so I knew the difference without having to look. I am slowly becoming familiar with all the settings the storm has to offer, and came across an idea to make my wishes come true. I saw that the sms message was titled "Voice Mail (my number)". So I thought I may be able to set a custom tone to MY number. Well look at that, an idea of mine worked for once. So in conclusion, if you want your voicemail alert to be distinctive, add your own number to your contacts and set a custom tone to messages for yourself. I hope I have helped some people, I know I will love the storm even more after figuring this one out.
Step by step nstructions for Storm users only, I am not familiar with other phones that may have different settings:
Go to "Contacts", press -BB button-, select "New contact". Add YOUR info (the important part is the exact number associated to your phone). Press -BB Button- and select "Save".
Go to the home screen. Click on the sound indicator on the top left of the screen (looks like a speaker with ))) after it. Scroll to the bottom of that list and select "Set Contact Alerts".
Click on "Contact Names", click "Add Name" on the menu that pops up. Find your contact info (the one you entered at the beginning of this) and select it.
Select "Messages", and under "Ring Tone" you can select any ringtone you like, and adjust other settings if you would like. But the ringtone is the important part.
When you have edited those settings, press the -BB Button- and select "Save". Press the -BB button- again and select "Save".
