I've tried redsn0w beta 5, and that did nothing. Spirit doesn't yet support 9.2, is there any other glaring way that I'm missing? If not, I want to downgrade iTunes to 9.1.1, how would I go about doing that? Thanks!
So I received my iP4 with firmware 4.0.2 installed by default. Then, 4.1 was released so I found no harm in upgrading because I wouldn't lose a jailbreak or unlock or anything of the like.Anyway, not having a JB is REALLY annoying me. Is there any way to downgrade to 4.0.1. Obviously I have no SHSHs, so I really am doubting whether this can actually be done.
Can I downgrade to 5.0.1 cuz my iPhone 4S after i updated yesterday, I found many issues like safari every time close when I copy something, camera freezing, sometimes my iPhone restart and now it's so slow when I write...Sometimes i found no service I have to turn onoff airplane mode to fix that...( Also on iOS 5.0.1 )
From the day i have upgraded my iphone 4s to ios 5.1 my battery is draining very fast and i am facing problem of phone heating up like anything..how to downgrade my iphone 4s to its original ios 5...
I know generally speaking the latest version of iOS is the only version you can restore to an iOS device (jailbreaking not withstanding). With iOS 8 coming out next week, I'm afraid it won't perform well on my iPhone 4s. I was hoping to install it and see how it performed, and if my suspicions were correct, back it off to iOS 7 again. So, my question is, is it ever OK to downgrade the phone? If I have a local copy of the os stored in my ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates/ folder can I restore that version? It seemed like last year when iOS 7 came out, there might have been a small window when you could downgrade to iOS 6, but I may be remembering that wrong.Â
Basically, I'm looking for a way to install and try iOS 8 with a downgrade to iOS 7 option, that doesn't include jailbreaking or paying $100 for a developers license and trying a beta version.Â
I just updated to iOS 7.1.1 and I would really love to be able to downgrade back to 6.1.4. I am running a GSM iPhone 5, 16gb. Is there ANY way to downgrade. I don't care if I have to lose all my memory. I just wish Apple would let us downgrade, at least once.
Well I just dropped 440 bucks on a second hand 3Gs, I was all excited b/c it's only at firmware 3.1 and with the 5.11.07 baseband. Things made sense Anyway bring it home just want to update it to 3.1.2 and just j/b with BlackRain..but no dice. uess I didn't do my research well.iTunes is automatically giving me the finger and saying "no! "Shift Update" for you! No second last firmware for you! only the latest, or GTFO!So yeah I guess it's similar to trying to downgrade a 3Gs. I am uber frustrated, I guess I can always just jailbreak the 3.1, anyone has any suggestions to help me find a way around this or there isn't any?
Eager to try the next iPhone/iPod update? If you upgraded, but can't activate the phone, you are stuck, so the logical thing to do is go back to the old firmware and wait until it's officially released, but going back is downgrading. That's where you get stuck. So here is an easy and working method to downgrade. If something doesn't work, or I'm wrong about something, please let me know. This guide is for Mac only.
Step 1) While the Phone is plugged to the computer, hold the home and power button until the phone goes off and comes back on. When it does come back on and the apple logo shows, release just the power button. The iTunes logo should soon show up. (This puts the phone into device firmware upgrade mode which allows us to communicate with it) Step 2) Download Tools.zip attached and make sure it's in your Downloads folder. (This makes sure we know where they are so we can direct services to it) Step 3) If it's not already unzipped, unzip it (To access the contents) Step 4) Launch Terminal and type/paste: sudo cp ~/Downloads/Tools/libusb-0.1.4.dylib /usr/lib (This command moves a file which allows us to talk to the phone through the USB port to the appropriate location) Step 5) Enter Your password as prompted then hit enter (This gives you permission to move the file) Step 6) Make sure you have hit enter and gone to the next line then type/paste: ~/Downloads/Tools/./iRecovery -s (This is the tool engineered by wEsTbAeR-- and Tom3q that allows us to talk to the phone) Step 7) Terminal should now display information about the phone and the last line should say "(Recovery) iPhone$" if it does, type/paste: setenv auto-boot true (This tells the phone to stop going into recovery mode) Step 8) Make sure you are on the next line and type/paste: saveenv Step 9) If all went well you should be able to boot your phone by holding the power and home button until you see the apple logo. From there on you can activate and sync.
I just came across a script AppleHack23 is distributing (Probably created). I haven't tested it, but it looks like it only sends the commands to the phone, so you can use it after Step 5. (Direct download for the script)
I have an IPhone 3g that was upgraded to ios4.0 it ran terrible and crashed a lot so I looked up how to downgrade. So I did a shift restore in itunes and put 3.1.3 on it and used reboot to reboot it. So it runs fine now but it wont restore so it lost everything that was on it pics photos etc. It says wont restore 4.0 back to 3.1.3 in itunes. I have tried upgrading back to 4.0 and even 4.0.1 and now they all fail and its stuck at 3.1.3. I am guessing I still have 4.0 base band with 3.1.3 firmware which is failing the upgrade check. This phone has never been jailbreak.
Things I have tried. jailbreak 3.1.3 <- froze on the hard disk pic on the screen jailbreak 4.0 <- said successful rebooted phone and nothing changed no cydia still at 3.1.3 hitting restore in itunes says wants to update and restore to 4.0.1 update fails. hitting shift restore in itunes pointing to 4.0 iphone in dfu mode < restore fails hitting shift restore in itunes pointing to 4.0.1 iphone in dfu mode < restore fails hitting shift restore in itunes pointing to 3.1.3 iphone in dfu mode < restore fails
