IPhone :: Where Does Your Data Go When Syncing?
Hi, I'm looking for the pictures that I took on my iphone that were synced to my computer. How do find out which folder they are kept in?
Also, I want to create a better organized database of contacts. Is there a way to create new groups in my iphone and keep them more organized?

IPhone :: Syncing Old Data To New
I got an iPhone 3GS 16GB and it had some battery issues so I brought it to Apple and got a new one. Now my old iPhone had 3.1 software on it and was backed up accordingly. All the new iPhones always come with 3.0 software so when I first plug in the new iPhone I can't even sync it with my backup! This means I gotta go through the process of reentering my contacts into the phone. It is such a hassle, is there a fix for this? Like can I update the software to 3.1 so it can work with my backup data? How do I do it??

IPhone :: Lost Data When Syncing!
Can anyone please help? I bought a new PC, downloaded iTunes and went to sync my iphone with Outlook. I made sure the that the automatically sync box was not checked and on the info page at the bottom under advanced none of the replace contents on iphone boxes were not checked. Hit the sync button and it wiped all my contacts except the the last three I had entered on my iphone. It didn't wipe anything else, so all I have now on both Outlook and my iphone is the last three entries I made prior to syncing. Is there anyway of recovering my contacts data? I really need to get my numbers back as some of them are not recorded any where else.

IPhone :: WiFi Required For Syncing Data?
With about a dozen apps, I was surprised to come across one that won't sync via iTunes. I'm told that data from my desktop cannot be synced that way: I must use a network connection.
Does this mean that without WiFi on my desktop, I cannot sync third-party apps?
Bizarre that the User's Guide doesn't mention anything about this....

IPhone 3G :: Syncing To New IMac Without Losing Any Data
my Mac Mini suffered an unexpected HD crash. I just purchased a 24" iMac to replace it. Now I realize that my iPhone 3G was sync'd to the now crashed Mac Mini. I have read thru many Forums, support sites, etc and have grown very fearful of even plugging in my iPhone 3G to my new iMac and take even the slightest chance of loosing anything on my iPhone, especially my 200+ contacts (complex entries), 600 songs, photos, etc, etc. I have many people at work ready to jump the fence and go Mac, iPhone and iPod Touch but now they're all sitting up and watching how this one goes . . . and our PC/IT tech at work is just grinning ear-to-ear . . . I love Macs, but this is not good .

IPhone :: Syncing To New Computer Without Losing Any Data?
I lost all of my information when my computer crashed recently. I have a new hard drive and OS, and I need to add my iPhone to this computer. I have photo albums stored on the iPhone that I would like to keep. I also would like to not lose my contact info, text/call history, ringers, settings, etc... I transferred the purchases, and my apps appear to be okay. My ringers did not transfer.I cannot find any information about what information will be lost when I sync to the new computer. Does anyone know how this works?

IPhone :: Syncing Apps With New Mac And NOT Loose Their Data?
I bought a new (to me) Macbook Pro running Lion. I have an iPhone 4S running iOS 5.1.1 that I keep backed up to iCloud. With my PC I used to always keep semi-frequent backups to the computer along side the iCloud backups, never can be too careful. Now since most everyting with Lion intergrates and syncs with iCloud I haven't needed to check to sync those in iTunes.
Now to get to my question, for my apps I know I can "transfer purchases" so that my apps show up in my iTunes library, but when I check to sync the apps it completely rearranges them on the little pictures of the screen on computer. Now a long time ago with iOS 4 and my old iPhone 4 when I did this on my new at the time PC it wiped out all the app data and basically reinstalled the apps as brand new apps. I DO NOT want to loose the app data as some of apps like LockBox store critical data that I cannot loose.
Will checking to sync my apps clear the data within the apps? Again I am ONLY concerned about APP DATA ! All other data on the phone has been taken care of and synced with the computer.

IPhone :: Re-installing Computer And Syncing Without Clearing Any Data?
I am currently running windows vista and im going to be installing windows 7 when its out. I realise with the iphone you can only sync it to one pc at a time..the only way ive managed to get it to sync before to other pc's is by totally clearing the iphone and then it would allow me. Is there a way to re-sync the iphone without clearing any data?

IPhone :: Syncing To A Different Library Keeping Settings And App Data?
So my question is pretty straight forward, I have tried searching the internet for a week now and haven't found anyone in the same perdicament that I find myself in at this moment. I have aquired a Powerbook G4 that I am wanting to use to sync my iPhone to. Moving from a Windows desktop I find this solution to be better for myself if I can figure out how to do this with minimum fuss.
I have moved iTunes libraries around on Windows computers before, but those computers have had ample Hard Drive space to store my entire iTunes library and it all worked like a champ. The problem that I face now is that my laptop doesn't have enough hard drive space to store the entire iTunes library locally. The items that I do sync to my phone are able to be stored locally, apps, music, podcasts... videos and tv shows which I only use with AppleTv will need to continue to reside on my desktop.
So now for the question.. I have used home sharing to transfer all of my apps, ringtones, podcasts, audiobooks, books, and music to my laptop but everytime I try to set my phone up to sync with the laptop make it truely mobile I am confronted with the dreaded "All data will be erased" message. I do not want this I have years of data in some apps, dvd collections, auto maintenance on my family's automobiles, financial transactions etc. etc. Is there anyway to accomplish what I am wanting to accomplish without losing this data? Ideally I would like to keep my app folders as well as my settings and logins for all of my apps, but I could probably manage if I lost them. I have no other option than to stay tethered to my desktop for my IPhone management which is highly inconvenient.
My Mac is running 10.5.8, iTunes 10.6.1, iPhone 4s running iOS 5.1. I do have icloud setup and backing up to icloud as well as locally if that makes a difference.

IPhone :: Lost Some Apps After Syncing/restoring, How To Get Lost Data Back
I updated the firmware of my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5.1 yesterday. After the update, I noticed that I have lost all of my contacts on the phone, so I plugged it back in to the computer and went with "Restore from backup", which was dated just a few hours prior to updating the firmware.
After it finished restoring, my contacts were all back but half of my apps are missing. I tried redownloading from the App Store as well as syncing from the computer, but the data (game saves, etc) are still missing. How do I get them back?

IPhone :: Syncing "sensitive" Data To ICloud
I work at a hospital and we are exploring syncing our iPhones with our Exchange server....(we are already doing this on a limited basis).
I sync with my work email (Exchange), and say for example, I also have 2 or 3 personal pop email accounts on my iPhone as well. Now let's say I turn on the syncing email with iCloud....it seems to me this syncs ALL my emails accounts with the iCloud. Which means hospital sensitive data would be in the iCloud, out of our control....
I cannot seem to be able to find a way to say, sync my personal stuff with iCloud, but do NOT sync Exchange mail with iCloud....in other words, it doesn't look like you can cherry pick which email accounts sync to iCloud.
let me know if these concerns are valid, or if there is indeed a way to specificy certain mail accounts to sync with iCloud.

IPhone :: Syncing With Outlook / Notes And Contacts Ok / Calendar Stopped Syncing
Syncing (via USB cable) between my iPhone 3GS (3.1.2) and Outlook 2003 SP3 (Cal, Contacts, and Notes) has never been an issue until my recent upgrade to iTunes 22.214.171.124. Since then, I noticed that my Calendar was no longer syncing either way. When I hit "Sync", iTunes would indicate that it's going through the motion of syncing calendar but no synchronization of the items take place. Contacts and Notes continue to sync fine. One off behavior is that when I connect my iPhone via USB, I get a pop-up window with "Apple iPhone" header indicating "Camera connected" with option to pick an app (ie. MS Word) to lauch for this action. Never seen this pop-up. I just cancel out of it.Few things I did to try to fix the issue, in vain:
1. iTunes->Info->Advanced: forced a "Replace information on this iPhone" - no changes to my calendar
2. iTunes->Edits->Preference->Devices->Reset Sync History - all calendar entries on iPhone are gone
3. "Repair/Reinstall" iTunes by running the install executable
I stopped by the Genius Bar for an appointment related to my battery issue and asked the fellow about my sync issue. He wasn't "aware" of the issue.Anyone has a suggestion for me to try?

IPhone :: Syncing With Computer - Need To De-authorize One Before Syncing With New
As this is my first post, I apologise if this has been dealt with elsewhere. I have a new computer with office 2007 installed, and of course itunes. I have my trusty 3G iphone, and it syncs all my contacts / calender / etc, but I cannot drag any music to an from the iphone. I had it synced with my old computer, and the question I need to ask is do I need to de-authorise that one before syncing with my new one again. Also the new computer does not want to sync my apps, and every time I try to it will delete them.My ipod works on both computers as I am in the process of moving my music to my new computer.

IPhone :: 4s And Data Use Charges - WiFi Versus Cellular Data Links - Update From AT&T?
AT&T and iPhone data use charges - WiFi and cellular link options Many people have complained about unusual data usage charges on their AT&T iPhone bills -- often 10s of megabytes in one transaction, posted in the middle of the night. Here are a couple of updates based on the AT&T support portal: WiFi vs cellular link: Connecting to a local WiFi hotspot and turning off your cellular data connection will block cellular data transmission and related charges. (Except for SMS messages, which are very small.) There are some gotchas, however: (a) If your iPhone goes 'to sleep' (the screen goes black), it will revert to the cellular data link, unless it is plugged into a charger. (b) Even if your iPhone is plugged into a charger, it will revert to a cellular data connection if the WiFi link drops, e.g. due to a momentary glitch with your internet provider or electric power supply, so.... (c) The only way to completely ensure that your iPhone will not revert to a cellular data connection is to turn it completely off. You (obviously) will not be able to receive calls, however.
Large data transactions in the middle of the night: Unusually large 'chunks' of data that are apparently sent around midnight are a related issue. You may think that you could avoid these mystery charges by making sure you have a WiFi connection running at night. A number of 'czars' on AT&T's site stated, however, that this is are simply an artifact of AT&T's billing system, which "aggregates" transactions that occur throughout the day into one summary charge, which is posted in the middle of the night. If this is accurate, the data connection(s) you use throughout the day will determine how large this 'summary' transaction will be.
Note: Our bill does not appear to square with AT&T's explanation. For example:
39 04/06/2012 09:36PM phone Data Transfer 7 KB 0.0040 04/06/2012 10:35PM phone Data Transfer 7 KB 0.0041 04/06/2012 10:41PM phone Data Transfer 369,759 KB 30.00
If all of the data from 6 April was 'rolled up' into the massive 369.8 megabyte transaction at 10:41pm, why are there two small transactions at 9:36pm and 10:35? We installed Onavo to try to get to the bottom of this;; I will post the results at the end of the current billing cycle.

IPhone :: How To Retrieve Handset Data From Crashed Computer Backup Data?
I recently had a serious computer crash (not sure how, because Mac has ALWAYS performed exceptionally), but I had to totally re-install the OS system on my computer, of course losing ALL the old data. HOWEVER, I was able to save or back up all my old data to an external hard drive, but now I can not find the iPhone data anywhere on my external drive. Is the iPhone data saved in a "hidden file" somewhere? And even if I can find the file, how can I extract the data, and get it back on my iPhone? And to complicate this dilemma even more, I used my Macbook Pro 17" notebook computer to service or activate/update both MY iPhone as well as my wifes iPhone. It is my wife's data that is missing or lost. Please help me. Lost without contacts.

IPhone :: Data Usage - Which Data Plan To Sign When Upgrade
I am considering which data plan to sign up for when I upgrade to a new iPhone 4. I have had an iPhone 3GS for over a year. I checked the SETTINGS/GENERAL/USAGE and see under Cellular Network Data that I have sent 23.3 MB and received 127 MB. Since when? Does that mean since my last bill, this month, since I got the phone, since I clicked Reset Statistics, or what??? I don't think I have ever reset or even checked this before, but if so, it was a long time ago. If this is all the data I use in a month or more, I don't think I will need to keep playing for the unlimited plan.

IPhone :: 200mb Data Plan Enough? Or Should I Wait For IP4 Data Usage
I checked out my data usage on the att website and it turns out surprisingly that i consistently use under 200mb a month.
1. I beejive im every work day for at least 2 hours on edge(don't tell my boss) but it suprisingly only comes out to only about 4mbs per day (if i used 3g would the data consumption be higher?)
2. I maybe use slingplayer 1 day a month on 3g (sad) about 10mbs i think
3. I grab email manually by opening up the mail app maybe twice a day max.
Do you think i should switch asap? or is it best recommended to view iphone 4 data usage first in case i upload 720p video (which i doubt they will let you do)

IPhone :: Could Not Activate Cellular Data Network / No Data Plan
I bought an iPhone 3GS off a guy on craigslist and it works great, no complaints. But every few minutes or so I get the alert saying that I "Cannot activate cellular data network - You are not subscribed to a cellular data service", and it's really annoying because it lights up my iPhone all the time and kills my battery. It's also really annoying - it comes up whenever I'm typing a message or playing a game; literally when I do ANYTHING on my phone. I do not have a data plan, but I have used 'unlockit.co.nz' to install a Fake APN to my iPhone to block data. Rogers has also given me a data block. This has been going on ever since I bought the phone, I thought installing a Fake APN would stop it but I guess not. I can't really restore since I have a lot of stuff on this iPhone already.. but if that's the only option then I will be forced to. I used to have an unlocked Fido 3G (about 2 months ago) without data and it never gave me this alert, do you think it has something to do with my 3GS being locked to Rogers?
This phone is a jailbroken iPhone 3GS (model MC143C) running version 3.1.3 (7E18) and locked to the "Rogers 5.0" network. If it helps the modem firmware is 05.12.01.if there are no real solutions, I still have 2 months left on my warranty. Would Apple fix it or give me a new one if I un-jailbreak it?

IPhone :: Do The Terms Cellular Data And Mobile Data Mean The Same Thing
Still struggling to get to grips with my new iPhone 4S....Reading the User Guide it says "to turn Cellular Data off go to Settings/General/Network then turn Cellular Data off".The only problem with my phone is that "Cellular Data" does not appear in the Network screen. However "Mobile Data" does.is it the the same thing? For cost reasons I would like to be in control of when I use the internet and already I have inadvertantly incurred charges without being aware that I had gone on to the internet. Will selecting "Mobile Data" to "OFF" solve my problem.

IPhone :: Can Data Roam Even When Data Roaming Is Switched Off?
I have the original iPhone (8GB).I just got a bill that includes two weeks of data roaming (I was out of state) - but I had the "Data Roaming" switched turned off the whole time.My carrier told me that the only way to guarantee data roaming is off is to go to "Cellular Data Network" and remove the APN. (I use "www" for the APN).Is this nuts or what? Could it be that the "Data Roaming" switch doesn't completely work?
