IPhone :: Restore Did Not Backed Up Apps / Getting Missing Items Back
I decided tonight to update my iPhone 3G to the updated software version 2.1. I downloaded the software and began the install. After iTunes spent about an hour or an hour and a half backing up my iPhone, the install began. About 15 minutes or so into this process I received an error message stating my phone was not properly updated. The phone was then put in recovery mode. I was told to use the restore option before I could proceed with using my phone. So I restored. At this point, 2.1 was put on my phone. I was then asked if I wanted to set up my phone as a new phone or use a restore to set it up. I chose the restore option. The restore lasted about 20 minutes. Afterwards, I now have 2.1 one on the phone. Also, the following items appear to be restored from before the failed install: my contacts, recent and favorite call lists, photos, calendar items, alarm clocks, text messages, cities in my weather application, notes, my mail configuration and maybe some other items. However, these items were NOT restored: my music (about 31 songs) and applications (approximately 20). My home screens were reset to the default. I'm not sure what else is missing, but these are the obvious things I noticed right off the bat. I never synced my music or my applications with iTunes, which may have something to do with it. However, I didn't sync photos either. How do I get the missing items back?Has anyone had a similar experience? What caused this problem? How can I avoid it in the future?

IPhone :: Backed It Up And Now Apple Logo Is Back Need To Restore
I posted yesterday about being stuck on the apple logo. It somehow worked itself out and I was able to back everything up. Today I noticed that the WI-FI was greyed out and when I went to reset it, it went back to the apple logo and is again locked there.
So I need to restore. I have the 3GS and when I go to restore it is says it will update to 3.1.3. Can someone walk me through how to restore so that it is still possible to unlock/JB?

IPhone :: Many Missing Items After Restore & Sync?
I recently saw that the "Other" file on my iPhone 4 was getting past 3 gigs in size. I recalled reading recommendations here to do a restore on the phone to get this file back to a reasonable size, so I did that, and then after setting my iPhone completely back up, I synced it. The phone was showing me the "connect to iTunes" screen even after the restore was done and a sync had completed.
Now, all kinds of things are missing from my phone and did not show up after syncing (and multiple additional syncs)! All photos and videos are gone, all texting threads, all my alarms, my wallpaper settings, the organization of my apps/folders, my phone number "favorites"... AACK!! My songs and apps are there. I got my calendars and contacts back from iCloud, but so much other stuff is gone. I had given up on retrieving everything else, but now I feel compelled to ask for help. Am I wrong in expecting the restore & sync process to put my phone back to exactly it's condition at the time of a prior sync? How can I get all of these settings and data back? Is there a way I can sync from a specific date before I did the restore? I've never had these issues before.

Sony Ericsson :: K800i - How To Restore Saved Message On SIM Back To Sent Items?
I didn't fully understand that when I "saved" a message on my K800i that it'd actually *move* it from the original folder (into "Saved Messages"), not just save a copy of it. This has now broken the flow of replies I'd created and I'd like to put it back. Would it be possible to export the saved message from the SIM card, then import it back to the original folder (Sent Items) with MyPhoneExplorer, a Java app or another desktop utility? (on either Windows or Linux)
I've not yet tried using any export/import software. Do any of them allow the exporting of a message which can then be edited (timestamp and body) before being put back? This would hopefully do the trick. I'd originally tried searching for answers here and on Google, then posted on the MyPhoneExplorer thread after not having much luck. Just trying the question here in the open. Hopefully no-one objects to me doing this!

IPhone :: How To Restore Missing Apple Apps?
Several Apple apps were deleted from my home screen. I tried running a Restore, which of course restored all those apps, but when I sync'd my contacts back in, it also restored my home screen which again deleted the missing apps. After poring over the manuals and discussions, I've found no answer. How can I restore the missing factory apps and have them live in harmony with my sync'd contacts? Is there anyway to just restore the "factory" apps without disrupting the rest of the phone?

IPhone :: How To Restore From 4.0 With Backed Up Blobs - Scroll Down
Well it finally hit me at the worst time - I had to go to the genius bar for a repair and they did the 4.0 upgrade. I have blobs stored on saurik's server for everything through 3.1.3.
I tried a few things to downgrade to stock 3.1.3 and was finally able to do so after failure with recboot.
So now I have stock 3.1.3 and I have my custom 3.1.3 firmware made.
Going into DFU or recovery yields error 1604 - on two machines, one running iTunes 9.1 and one running 9.2. Tried with the hosts file redirecting to Saurik's server on 9.2 and to apple's server on 9.1 (haven't tried redirecting on the machine with 9.1 but I guess I'll try that next)
I am assuming the issue is the bootloader being updated - is that correct?
Is it possible to get back to jb 3.1.3 so I can roll up to 4 with pwnage 4.0 then unlock (not necessary since I am an ATT customer, but preferred)?

Nokia :: 5800 - Apps Missing After Restore From Application Folder?
After my phone refuses to start up after switching on, I had to take the memory card out so it can boot up normally, turned it off and reinsert the card and it booted up okay.I did the back up yesterday - full back up, memory card including and reformat my card and phone. However, after the restore - I noticed quite lots of my games and apps are missing, even the application manager shows them as installed. Where have they gone to? Also the game folder have disappeared, putting half of the games back to the App folder. The App Manager is also missing a few applications such as PaintPad.What is happening to my phone? It's quite new. How do I get the installed applications that is missing from the application folder back in the folder? EDIT: Oh, my memory card have changed its name to No Name. How do I rename that as well?

IPhone :: 3GS Wont Restore Missing Music - Message Is Unable To Restore - Unknown Error
Nothing but problems with my new iPhone 3GSFirstly after the second sync all the music was replaced with "Other" data - and the iPhone was saying it had no music content. Tried resyncing it with iTunes and got the message that there was not enough space on the iPhone.
Then attempted a restore - but it gets stuck after downloading the software update while verifying the restore with apple.
The message is Unable to restore - unknown error. So I now have an iPhone which is unusable and stuck in recovery mode. Also tried restoring on both my imac and macbook pro but both return the same problem.

IPhone :: Calendar Items Missing Or Disappearing Since IOS4
iPhone 4, iOS 4.1, Entourage 2008, 3 month old MacBook Pro.Since upgrading to iOS4, and now iOS4.1, the calendar is not syncing correctly with Entourage: When I first go to the calendar on the iPhone many items are missing - seems to be the single entry items (recurring items are there). After a few seconds, they all disappear and the twirling wheel appears. The twirling wheel keeps stopping and starting. Slowly, items re-appear but still missing the ones that weren't there originally.

BB Storm 9500 :: Handset Crashes / Can't Restore From Backed Up Files
My Storm is unreliable as it periodically crashes to a white screen with something like "JVM Error 102r", I returned it to vodafone and it was sent away and returned with the latest software installed. However the samecrash keeps occuring, rather than sending it away for 1 - 2 weeks for a software reinstall I do it myself from the Blackberry Desktop Manager, this is a pain and an inconvinience but I have to live with it untill my contract ends and I can leave blackberry for ever.
My more immediate problem is that my home PC crashed and while I was setting up my new home PC my Blackberry also crashed. I downloaded and installed the latest Desktop Manager on to the new PC but I was unable to install and update my Blackberry to V5 software the reason being a connection error "cant connect you may need to enter a password"
I installed an older version of Desktop Manager which gives me access to v4.7 which installed successfuly however, and this is my pressing issue, I can not restore from my back up files (either the backup.ipd files or via the backup cab files) the reason it gives is "you do not have permission to open this file" so is it a windows 7 issue or a Blackberry issue? as I cant even copy the files(s) from my back up usb drive to the new computers HDD.

IPhone :: Exchange ActiveSync Moves Calendar Items Back By 1 Hour
I just noticed this problem this week, after the Daylight-Savings Time change this weekend. But, I cannot confirm if it was also happening before then or not.
When a user is sent a meeting invite and they accept the invite on their iPhone, the time is initially correct. Then the phone syncs with the Exchange server and a few seconds later the meeting gets moved back an hour.
So, if I send an invite for a 3PM meeting, it will initially get put at 3PM and then a few seconds later it will get moved to 4PM.
When accepting the meeting in Outlook on the desktop it works fine, and even shows up at the correct time on the iPhone.
I have tried with Time Zone Support both on and off and in different time zones. No luck.

IPhone :: Get Old Messages Back After A Restore With No Back Up?
I tried to download a ringtone and my phone then told me it needed to restore because of the updates. I transferred my purchases over but stupidly didn't make a back up. After restorting I realised the most recent back up I had was for April. So I used that back up. However does anybody know whether it is possible, in any way, for me to get my phone restored back to just before it decided to restore. I've tried looking through the forums but have had no luck.

IPhone :: Restore From Backup Doesn't Restore Apps
I finally updated my iPhone to 5.1. I waited so long because of the fiasco updating my iPod Touch when 5.0 first came out. I thought it worked, I was pleased Apple worked out the bugs. Lo and behold, all of my apps and folders disappeared before my eyes. No problem I thought, I did a back up. Restore from back up. Fifteen minutes later, it looks exactly the same. Isn't a backup supposed to be of everything on the system so that if something goes wrong, you just revert back to the back up and either try again or wait for the process to be fixed? Seriously, get your stuff together.

Nokia :: E71 Cannot Restore Calendar Items Using PC Suite
I cannot restore my calendar items on my e71 using pc suite.I did at one point because i transferred all calendar items from my E65 backup onto the E71 when i got it.This was a problem before I upgraded the firmware and the pc suite software.I upgraded both thinking it would help it, but it still wont.
After looking at a few posts, i downloaded Noki to see if the items were on the nbu file and the calendar items are on it.Does anyone know how I could put the calendar items back on the phone by other methods?I thought that maybe i could put the items on outlook, and then sync it across, and that way the items are always on outlook for when the same error happens again. Is there a way of doing this, without shelling out some money for the full version of noki?...or better still via pc sync?

BB Storm 9500 :: Missing Menu Items / Tried Battery Pull
I'm having quite a headache here..For some reason my Storm is missing its 1st line menu items.I just upgrade an application (StormSlider) and after the installation is finished it asked me whether I wanted to reboot, and then I pressed reboot (one of most regretful things that I do in my life). I didn't pay attention to the reboot process but after a while, I looked at my BB and found it stays on the vodafone screen (since I got it from vodafone obviously). I tried to turned off the device with the power button. It went off and then I turn it on again. When it is on I realized that my first line of menu items is no longer there. Obviously thats the 4 application that I need the most. I tried pulling the battery and simcard out but still they haven't showed up.
I also check that there is no item hidden in the menu. I checked the application properties in the advanced option, the applications is still there but I don't know how to access it. Anyone have had this problem before?
