IPhone :: PDANET With Phone Plugged In Still Seems To Drain Battery

This seems to be pretty consistent behavior that i've observed a few different times. Last week I was in a 4 hour meeting, and I was browsing via pdanet the whole time... At the end of the meeting, i was expecting my iPhone to have full battery life. Instead, it had like 50%. So yeah... just seeing if anyone else has observed this.

IPhone :: IP4 Battery Drain / While Plugged In?
I plugged in my ip4 last night a couple hours before going to bed, and noticed that it was up to 100% when I went to bed. I woke up and, still plugged in, was at 97%...?Is this normal by any means? I mean, I know my MBP which I always have plugged in will drop charge while plugged in to such %'s (97,98,99).however my ip4 has never done this before.

IPhone :: 3G Battery Drain : Which Features Drain Battery Most To Least
I just upgraded from original iPhone to 3G. I really like the 3G and expected the battery drain but was just curious as to which features drain the battery from most to least:

3G Radio
WiFi Radio
Bluetooth
GPS

Presuming all of the above are enabled and on I'd be interested in someone sorting out the above list from most to least battery draining.

IPhone :: Brand New 3GS Excessive Battery Drain / When Not Using Phone At All
I bought a brand new iPhone 3GS 32GB in Norway just about a week ago. I am experiencing excessive battery drain when I'm not using the phone at all. When 3G is off, Data Roaming is off, Internet Tethering is off, and WI-FI is off and I don't use the phone at all, the battery drains 5 % in one hour. That cannot be normal at all when it is in standby! Should I bring the phone back to where I bought it or is there anything I can do to improve the battery life? I am currently running 3.1.2 version.

IPhone :: Will Keeping Phone Plugged In Most Of Time Affect Battery?
Since the iPhone's battery is rated for a limited number of full charges, I was thinking that I'd just leave it plugged in most of the time so that the phone runs off of external power rather than draining the battery. This should reduce the number of times that the battery needs to be charged up, thus extending the overall life of the battery. Does this reasoning make sense or would keeping the phone plugged in actually cause more harm to the battery?

IPhone :: Push Dilemma - Battery Drain Versus Find My Phone
My battery is draining very quickly with 3.0, on both 3G and 3GS. Based on several posts, this is likely due to PUSH notification being on. May also explain why phone occasionally running very hot.So obvious solution is to turn push off, and use fetch. But - now Find my iPhone will not work. Any other solutions that won't kill the find iphone feature?

IPhone :: Phone Battery Drains Quickly - Dies - Shows 50% Once Plugged In
I've got a 2g unlocked. Nothing installed but the sinful MMS package (but it did this before I installed it anyways). Maybe once or twice every week or two the battery will drain rather quickly during the day. It'll last from 8am - 6pm off a full nights charge. So once it dies, I'll try to turn it back on but it remains dead. As soon as i plug it in, it turns on as usual but then reads 50% battery. The remaining "50%" then takes about an hour to drain to zero again.

The battery has been calibrated and most days it works perfectly fine (2-3 days per charge)I think I've noticed that this happens on a day where I might use the phone a little more than average, but definitely not enough to make this drastic change.

When writing your question Occasionally the phone's screen will turn white.  What I've noticed as that it typically happens after the phone shuts itself off.  I don't know how it turns off, and it doesn't happen often, but occasionally I'll pull my phone out of my pocket and find that it's completely off.  When I turn it back on it will boot all the way to the home screen without issues and then the screen will fade to white and stay that way.  Pulling the battery does not fix the issue.  All it does is kill the battery more than having the screen being all white and full power.  Most recently it happened while I was navigating the Store in the Amazon Kindle program.  Looking around I've seen conversations stating that the screen's going bad (which I doubt), the OS needs to be reinstalled (which I attempted through the Desktop Manager and I think I did it how I'm supposed to without wiping it with a 3rd party program), or that the phone is defective.  My dad got the phone in November of 2008, and I got it when he decided to get an iPhone. I'm definitely a BlackBerry noob, so any suggestions (or requests for more information), would be appreciated. I've have noticed that reloading the OS stops the problem for about a week or so.I noticed recently is that the battery life seemed to be draining faster than I thought reasonable. For instance, on 50% (or so) charge, the phone would die after being in a call for about 45 minutes. So I ordered a new battery. Today, the phone got extremely warm (in the holster) and the battery drained to the yellow bar in about 3 hours. No programs that connect to the network (Twitter, Web Browser, Opera, Kindle, etc.) were running and I was not noticing the up/down arrows. This was on a full charge. When I plugged it into the wall, the battery seemed to charge extremely fast. It's only been charging for about an hour or so and it's nearly at full charge. This is not typical. I am out of warranty, have no insurance, and am not able to get a discount price on a new phone until July. I'm ready to downgrade to my old dumbphone.

BB Pearl Flip :: 8220 Recent Onset Of Rapid Battery Drain / Even When Phone Is Off
My T-Mobile 8220 (which was replaced in April because the Bluetooth quit) worked fine for several months (under light use) and then the battery, which was previously long lasting, started to drain rapidly. It began draining 20-30 percent in 24 hours even when the phone was turned off. I thought it was because the battery was over a year old, so I bought an apparently new one, a RIM-branded C-M2 (from EMTC, Inc., for $9.95 including shipping). The new battery performed the same as the original (which was about 14 months old). I've kept everything turned off when the phone is on except the minimum (e.g., no wireless, GPS or Bluetooth service running), reset the phone and updated the software to v. 4.6.0.180; no change.

I then talked to T-Mobile customer service, who considering what I had already tried, had no further suggestions. The CS tech felt there is most likely a problem in the phone's hardware. (The phone is now out of warranty.)As a last step before updating the software to v. .308, recommended in this forum, I drained the battery 100 percent a couple of times, which in each case took about 2.5 days. Still no improvement. In fact, upon completing charging immediately after those two cycles, the battery completely drained essentially overnight.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is the phone on the way out or have I more likely been dealing with two bad batteries?

IPhone :: 4 Battery / How Much Does Wi-Fi Drain?
Previous smart phones I owned turned wifi off when the screen went dead. So essentially wifi didn't really drain any battery and wifi was easier on the battery then 3g when actively pulling down data.

So now I am on a 2gb plan (previously on unlimited) and sensitive to this I keep my wifi on all the times to use my home connection when possible. My battery however is barely getting through a full day. My wife was getting solid days but she had wifi off.Do you think that this is effecting it? I use my phone quite a bit throughout the day.

Plugged it in overnight, got up this morning and took it off the charger at 100%. Leave it sitting and 5hrs later the battery is down to 30%! Wifi, 3g, push, ect ect are all off. Someone please help, I was so excited to get this working and now the battery doesn't even last half a day with no use!

IPhone :: Battery Drain - 3Gs
This is new for me. Today I left the house with a full charge, 4 hours later, I had so little battery life left that I couldn't even turn my phone on. I've searched the forums and found some discussion of similar issues, but nothing about a spontaneous, out of the blue, total loss of power. I'm curious if there are any apps that are known energy suckers or if I've done something to my settings that could be contributing to the loss. I was recently out of the country, so I had shut down everything (no data, no push, no 3G, etc) to avoid getting socked with a big bill, but I'm pretty sure that I've returned everything to its previous state. Is there a primer available for settings that will allow for full functionality, but prevent unnecessary power loss?

IPhone :: Fast Battery Drain?
UPS dropped off my phone a little bit ago and I love it so far but two things struck me as odd. The first is that my battery drained fron 100% to 72% in roughly half an hour. In that time all I did with the phone was turn it on, start a few apps and ran a speed test on the 3G network.

It should not drain that fast. At this rate it will last a few hours with no usage. Is anyone else having this issue? Another strange thing is that the speed test I ran came in at 600kb down/100up. That is slower then my 3G phone (I tested it at the same time)

IPhone :: Battery Drain In Standby
My new iPhone 4 is experiencing battery drain in standby. It was in standby for approx. 8 hours overnight and went from 74% to 65%, a drop of 9%, which means it's dropping at a rate of over 1% per hour while in standby. To equate to Apple's quoted rate of 300 hours of standby, it should not drop more than 1% in 3 hours. I have drained and fully charged the battery once. I have 3G and WiFi enabled, all push is off, location & BT are off. This seems unreasonable to me. Are others experiencing this and do you know of nay fixes or should I replace the phone?

IPhone :: Having Fast Battery Drain
My cousin and I both have 16gb iphone 3gs's and we are both having batter issues (my cousins is worse though). The battery drains so fast it's ridiculous. My cousins phone went from 100% to 64% in 2 hours with only sending a couple text messages. I think we have narrowed down the problem to something continuously running in the background. Here is a snapshot of his usage:URL...

Look at that ridiculous amount of data sent and received, and look at his call time. The current call time should not even be close to lifetime call time. He's done a hard reset, etc., and nothing has changed. Is there a way to figure out what's going on?

My phone is not as bad, but the battery does seem to drain more than usual. I did a little test...I reset the usage statistics and then just put my phone on sleep and didn't touch it for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes my data sent and received was:

Sent: 112kb
Received: 683kb

That's after 10 minutes of no usage after resetting the stats to zero. What is going on? There is obviously something running, but I can't figure it out.

IPhone :: Battery Discharging Despite Being Plugged In
This is weird, no prior problems charging my iPhone. When I got up today the battery SOC (using an app) showed 40% and that was consistant with the SOC icon on the phone. So I plugged it in to my regular wall/AC charging spot. Grabbed the phone a couple hours later and the SOC was down to 35%. Odd.I decided to sync the phone and update some apps. So I connected to my laptop that I use for that, sync worked fine, big green battery display shows charging...and yet later the SOC was down to 30%. Tried again, resynced to make sure the cable wasn't the problem or loose...and an hour or two later I'm down to 25% SOC.No battery hungry apps are running, all else seems fine and I've never had issues like this before. Any ideas?

IPhone :: Rapid Battery Drain - What Is Causing It?
Over the past couple of days my iPhone's battery has been draining really fast. For instance the other day I went to class with my phone almost completely charged and by the time I left the class an hour and 15mins later, i got the 20% remaining popup, I was a little confused but didnt think too much of it, so i put music on and within a couple of mins (2-3) the 10% remaining popup came up, so I immediately turned the phone off and when I got back to my dorm I plugged it in and charged it fully. I thought that I knew the reason for this, my school was experience a problem with the wireless with it connecting and disconnecting throughout the day, so I thought that could of have been the reason.

But then it happened the next day as well and there was no problems with wireless. So this time I turned the wireless off and it was good for a day. Today it was charged all day and I did not use it much at all, about 10 mins ago I go and pick it up and the battery is down to 20% again, and the wireless is off, and I do not have push notification on for my mail so I do not know what is draining the battery so quickly. If this has happened to anyone else or if anyone knows what might be causing it, I would appreciate hearing from you!

IPhone :: Battery Drain / Apps Not Quitting
My iPhone battery, like several others', was draining very quickly. I took it into the Apple Store, and they determined that it was a result of apps not quitting properly, and so they were partially running in the background, making the iPhone hot (and the battery drain) even when in standby mode. The Genius had used a software program to determine which apps weren't properly quitting, and said to delete those from the phone and iTunes and download them again.

That worked temporarily, but now I'm having the same problem. Does anyone know if there's a way to determine which apps aren't fully quitting without going into the Apple Store? I don't want to delete and redownload all of my apps or go into the Apple Store every time this happens!

IPhone :: How To Fix Fast Battery Drain
I upgraded my phone from a black berry to an 8gb i phone 3gs on the 2nd april. the phone was perfectly operational for about two weeks whereupon after charging it overnight on sunday 18th april the battery only lasted two hours. during this time all i had done was make two phonecalls. the problem persisted all week in which time i had tried switching off bluetooth, wifi, 3g etc all to no avail. the problem also coincided with the day i bought a protective casing for the phone. thinking this might be the problem i removed it to no avail. my mobile operator (vodafone) then replaced the phone for me on friday last.

i did as they asked and sync'd with itunes and charged the phone for 12 hours on friday night. i unplugged it at 8am saturday morning and didn't use the phone until 2pm at which time it still had a full charge. when i then used it to make a phone call the battery then drained totally in the space of two hours and the problem has persisted until today.

vodafone are replacing the phone once again (this time to a 16gb 3gs) but i find it highly unlikely that i would have the same problem with two brand new phones in the space of two weeks. With this in mind i'm wondering is there something i am doing (such as how i'm charging the battery for example) that is causing this problem. i have discussed this with fellow iphone friends and can't seem to come up with a solution.
