I accidentally deleted some of my contacts on my iPhone 3GS. I've tried to go on my computer and back the phone up, but it says it only backs up with iCloud and it doesn't have the contacts on iCloud after I deleted them. How can I get these contacts back?

So I am having trouble with syncing things like contacts to my phone. Yesterday I happened to drop the iphone in water and today I got a new one at the Apple Store. So I dont have the previous iphone with me because they took it. I was wondering if there was any way possible to put the contacts in my iphone from this so called "back up"? What if I dont believe I backed up my previous phone, what can I do besides putting it in manually? I happen to have Sprint, how get the contacts from them if I cannot get it from itunes?

I updated my iPhone to iOs 5.1 recently. I share my account with two other people and when i was restoring my contacts another person's contacts went on my phone. I deleted them and replaced them with my own since I wrote down my contacts just incase and as I did this it started to do the same to the person whos numbers were restored on my phone.
