IPhone :: How Long Built-in Alarm Clock Sounds Before Automatically Shutting Off?
Apr 24, 2009
Does anyone know how long the built-in iPhone Alarm Clock sounds before automatically shutting off? Is this configurable? Right now it seems to go on forever unless I press a button.I would prefer to have it sound for 15 seconds and then stop annoying me.
Is there a way to create a custom profile so that only the alarm clock sound will be active? My old LG phone had this feature, basically an "Alarm only" setting. It was great for when I needed to take a power nap and didn't want to be disturbed by phone calls/text alerts.
I have a blackberry 8330 curve, and am not so far seeing how to change / assign my own sounds to my calendar events and alarms? As it is, calendar appts often seem to pass with no alarm waking me currently also.
Does anyone but me use the alarm clock? I have used a Nokia alarm clock for years with few problems, but after updating my N78 to 21.002, 10-03-09 a few weeks ago, the alarm clock has become very unreliable.
Problem appears to be when the phone has been turned off overnight with the alarm set. Sometimes it works noirmally in the morning, but when it (frequently) fails, either the alarm does not go off at all, or if it does go off the once, if I then press "snooze" (yes, I am careful to not press "stop" on these occasions!), it never comes back.
Very oddly I cannot make this occur with short-term tests of setting an alarm a few minutes hence and turning off the phone. Every time I do this, both the alarm and the snooze function appear to work normally. It seems to need several hours /overnight to become unreliable. This is why I can't really prove it, except on the moments when I am angry with it for making me late in the morningsI have accordingly over slept several times now, and mised one meeting because of this bug. Has anyone else seen this and/or is it fixed?
Lumia 900 failed to wake me up this morning. The alarm just did not sound at all.
- Alarm was set and was shown to be in use. Even the Icon in the start screen was shown - Tried multiple times afterwards setting the existing alarm a few minutes forward. None of the attempts alarmed.
How I set the alarm is that I always edit the existing alarm, edit the time and push the alarm on.When I tried creating a new alarm (a few minutes forward), that ringed ok. But the existing alarm failed to ring
how do i set my alarm clock for a "one off" alarm the next morning? I go into clock, then "set alarm" and set time to "on". However this sets it for every following day [except weekends]! What am I doing wrong? Surely it can be set as a "one off" alarm!
I use my iPhone's alarm clock to wake up on weekdays. Twice now, it has failed to go off in the past week or two. When I look at it, it's "Off," but I haven't turned it off. In fact the only time I ever launched the clock app was to set up this alarm, except when I've had to turn it back "On."
Of all the bugs, this one really bothers me. I just deleted the alarm and made a new one. Hopefully, this doesn't happen again.
I have three custom files I have created or saved and always used on all of my phones.I have these in the folder "Music" in iTunes, but I cannot figure out how to set them to their respective assignments.I have read the help file that says you have to "Buy" custom ringtones. Does that mean even mp3's that you already have like I do? How do I make these 3 work as Ringtone, Alarm and Alert on iPhone 4? NOTE: I don't actually have the phone yet and do not know how it interacts with iTunes, but I do have iTunes setup and music/movies loaded into it.
Awaken is an excellent alarm clock app, but I'm finding it difficult to use as I either have to prop my iPhone up against my wall or sit it sideways in the dock in order to use it at night. Not the best solution.
Any times on how to have a sort of landscape dock? Any cheap holders?
When an alarm goes off using the default clock / alarm app and the phone is locked, all I get is the option to Snooze. The only way to actually dismiss the alarm so that it does not go off again is to unlock the phone while the alarm is going off.
Is there a way - either by pressing a button on the phone or getting a dismiss button next to the snooze button - to dismiss an alarm in the lock screen without having to unlock the phone? I know if the phone is unlocked, the alert will give me the option of either "Snooze" or "Ok," but I don't get that same option in lock mode.
is there an alarm clock app that requires you to be alert to turn it off? The alarm on the iphone requires a person to slide your finger across the screen, but that doesn't really make me alert and awake. Something like a simple math problem, or a "connect the dots" off button would really wake people up IMO. Is there anything like that on the iPhone? If not, some developer should really make it!
Since a few weeks I have the very odd effect, that the S-II's built-in Clock app's timer does not ring, when going off. It silently displays "Time's up" on screen, but doesn't sound nor vibrate. I do have set a sound in Clock => Timer => Menu => Settings => Alarm Tone and the volume is turned to 100%. I also have set all sounds in Home screen => Menu => Settings => Sound => Volume up to 100% but ther is not sound!t drives me nuts and makes the device practically useless as an alert device
I'm uploading all my pics and videos to my computer today and I set it to delete them off my phone after they are uploaded to the computer. I finish that. Then I unplug my my phone and go to camera roll. There is a video over an hour long that was filmed from my phones camera! You can see me picking up the phone, using it, setting it down, putting it in my pocket or on my leg, talking to others in the room etc. I absolutely was not in the camera app the whole time - I was doing other things. The phone has never been jailbroken or altered in any way.
I want to do a long (8 h+) timelapse witch my nokia n8, and i got one problem witch it, When my phone get 100% full, charger turn off and this will dont charge until i plug it out and in. What to do? I dont want to spend all day siting next to N8 and have fun witch charger.
I once accidently connected my 5610 XpressMusic through PC suite with a virus infected computer. i had a 2GB micro SD card in the phone to which i was trying to send some songs. my phone shut down immediately. after i removed my SD card the phone started. since then i have noticed that my phone runs fine without any card inside, but the moment i put any microSD card, it becomes unstable and shuts down.
I've had the storm since Friday and so far I like it. This is my first Blackberry phone. I have a problem that happens at least twice a day. If the phone is just sitting there and I'm not using it, I will pick it up to check messages and seems that the phone is off. I hit the power button a couple of times then finally that grey screen with the little square box (clock?) comes up and it will take a few mintues before the phone is up and running again.
I've recently encountered a problem with my HTC One S in that it will not recognize any of my music, notification and alarm sounds at all. I've connected it to my PC to verify that the music is indeed in the music folder, but nothing comes up.
I was wondering if anyone else has experienced any problems with the alarm clock on their Moto Z6c? I have Alarm 1 set to 7:15 am Mon - Fri, but it still rings at 7:15 am on Sat and Sun mornings!! Alarms 2 & 3 are not set to anything.I thought I fixed it on Sat. afternoon by choosing 'Reset All' in the Alarm Clock Options and reprogramming Alarm 1. And it did seem to fix the problem for a while when I tested a few different alarm times during the day. So I confidently set it back to 7:15 am Mon - Fri and sure enough, it woke me again at 7:15 am Sun. morning!
I know I could easily work around this problem by disabling the alarm clock on Fri. and Sat. nights, but you shouldn't really have to on a brand new phone. I certainly didn't have to on my LG phone.Could it be the phone's SW version? Mine is JACQUE_01.30.11P. Does anyone know if there is a more recent SW version that Verizon can flash the phone with?
I use a microSD card to use media on my phone, such as sounds.
My issue: When setting an alarm, I am unable to access any sounds stored on my card. I can only access sounds stored on the phone itself. This did not always happen. In the past, I was able to select alarm tones stored directly on my microSD card.
Here's the story: The other day, something strange happened. I had the card in my card reader, connected to my PC, and my PC crashed. This wasn't because of the card. It was from something else. However, when I put my card back in my phone, strange things began to happen. I first noticed when I was trying to set my alarm on the phone. When selecting the alarm tone, it would show me all sounds on my phone, but would not list any sounds on the card. I navigated to the "Memory" settings and it said my card was there will all of my files on it. If I navigate to "My Sounds" in the menu list, it properly shows me all of my sounds both on the phone and on the card.
I thought restarting the phone my help, so I did that. When trying to restart my phone, it showed the VCast loading screen, then the startup image, and then it reset and went back to the VCast loading screen, and continued to do this until I pulled the battery out. I removed the card and the phone started just fine. I put the card back into the reader and backed up my files, then put the card back into the phone and formatted it. I then put the files back onto my card, and now I am having no troubles restarting the phone, however I still cannot access the card's sounds when trying to set an alarm tone. I have noticed that I am able to set an alert tone for text/pix messages and calls. Why, suddenly, can I not access the card's sound list from the Alarm setup? I was able to do this before. I just got the idea of trying to do an over-the-air programming using *228. I will try that now, but please, if anybody has any other suggestions, I'd love to know about them. Just tried *228 and it did not help.
I realized that i left my Blackberry at work and the alarm is set to go off in the morning. I have it set for 10 min snooze but obviously will not be there to hit snooze or dismiss it. How long will the alarm run before it gives up?
I've found in the Market many apps named like "Anti-mosquito", which claim to be able to keep mosquitos away: indeed, they achieve this by playing high-pitched sounds which are annoying to mosquitos and - yes! - they work.
Of course, this can be done by just playing repeatedly high pitched sounds, which, depending on the kind of mosquito you want to get rid off, may be in the range from 14 to 25 KHz.
Since I don't know whether playing so highly pitched sounds for a long time could damage the phone, I've asked the Italian support. They looked confused, indeed.
At first, they asked which app was I asking about and said that, anyway, all apps from the Market "are developed and managed directly by Google" (sic).
Then, when I pointed out that, put aside the fact that apps in the Market are not being developed by Google, I wasn't talking about apps and software but of particular sounds and hardware, they escalated the question to their technical department.
I was asked again which app I wanted information about (!!) and then, after telling again that I meant nothing more than playing a 14-25 KHz-pitched mp3 for a long time, they answered that no, that may not harm the phone but they couldn't be 100% sure.
I've asked them about the audio playback hardware, about who produced it and whether those latter could answer. The final answer, that they suppose is enough to close my ticket, is that "nobody could say for sure that playing high-pitched tones for a long time wouldn't damage the phone".
This is a nonsense to me, since hardware must have technical specs. Does Motorola International have got a better answer?
Well, ive not been in the forums for a good two weeks now, thinking my phone isnt going to fail me anymore than it already has, and then this morning it did, again! Todays problem is the alarm clock, which i can see there are a couple of posts on this topic already but no real replies or if anyone has a solution. I have three alarms set for the morning, 4:15am, 4:20am and 4:30am. This morning the first alarm failed to even go off, the second one off as it should, but then the third alarm chose to go off at 4:34 and around 30 seconds. I was not impressed with this as alarm failure could cause me to loose my job if im late. Ive read a few people have the 4 second delay happen on theres, has anyone had an alarm set and not go off at all? Ive had the phone for just over 2 months now and this is the first time its happened.
I must be having a complete ***** moment but I can't figure it out so I have to ask. On my main screen to the left of the time there is a clock icon (the alarm indicator). The problem is that the alarm is not set however when I go into the clock application. there is a 7:30 AM in the lower right (not lower left where you would see the alarm if set). and it has an icon that looks like a small blackberry with round brackets on either side of it. Anyone know what this time and indicator is. I believe that it is the reason the main screen has a alarm indicator on it.
I am not able to set the alarm on the clock or calendar I don't know wats wrong because I have only had this fone 4 two weeks I have tried to pull the battry out several times and even went to the extent of updating the software and its still not working .
in the Applications folder but can not find the alarm clock, but in the main screen of my blackkberry curve is the clock symbol. So the clock will continue playing but I can not disconnect because I find the clock icon in the Applications folder.
