IPhone :: Connecting 4 To Intel My WiFi Technology?
Mar 14, 2012
I have a new Dell computer that has Intel's 'My WiFi Technology' installed. This is supposed to allow wireless devices to connect to the internet via the laptop. To add a device - such as my iPhone - the program has three options: (1) WiFi Protected Setup PIN configuration, (2) WiFi Protected Setup push button configuration, or (3) manual configuration. My question is two-fold: does my iPhone 4 with iOS 5.1 support either of the first two options, and if so, how.

Time to buy a new one.The amorphous metal alloys developed by Liquidmetal Technologies may be used in the design and development of Apple’s next generation wireless antenna, according to Liquidmetal founder Dr. Atakan Peker. In an interview with Cult of Mac, Dr. Peker notes that the properties of Liquidmetal make is an excellent substrate for usage as an antenna and could be one of many reasons Apple signed a broad licensing deal with the California company.Described as a metallic glass, the various alloys used in Liquidmetal offer a high strength to weight ratio, high wear resistance, and a low softening temperature that allows it to be molded into complex shapes and designs. Liquidmetal technology is already used in a wide variety of consumer products including sports equipment like golf clubs and skis, jewelry, and in electronics where it makes its appearance in the casings of USB thumb drives, MP3 players, and mobile phones. It is also used in the antenna of the Verizon USB727 wireless modem, which is known for its excellent reception. Surprise, surprise, Apple already uses this novel technology in its newly released Magic Trackpad.URL...

With recent changes in the market for Android tablets, it appears there is speculation that Intel may be positioning tablets based on the Atom processor. While Honeycomb has not been fully adapted to the Atom, Intel demoed an Atom driven Android tablet in Bejing this week. Here is some of the article's key content:"So, with tablets based on chips from companies like Nvidia (Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab) and Texas Instruments (PlayBook) not likely flying off the shelf, are Intel's chances any better now? "The door to this market is open. The longer it takes for these other products to get rolling, the more opportunity there is for Intel," said Richard Shim, an analyst at DisplaySearch.
And others see an opening for the world's largest chipmaker. "Though Apple has set the bar, it's not going to be alone in this space. Right now it looks like Android will have the majority of tablet sales(outside of Apple), and Intel has a dedicated team of people to make Android work the best it can on its Atom chips. They have a lot of resources they can apply," said Jack Gold of consulting firm J.Gold Associates, who wrote about this yesterday. And Intel, despite its unimpressive start, has another advantage. Atom is not just another cookie-cutter design from U.K.-based ARM. Intel can bring to bear all of its manufacturing, security, and media processing know-how, according to Gold, who believes it will continue to whittle away successfully at the inherent power-efficiency advantage of ARM chips. "My take is that Intel can capture 20 to 25 percent of that remaining market outside of Apple."
Shim has a few words of caution, however. "It all depends, of course, how well Honeycomb (Android 3.0) runs on Atom," said Shim. "That's a big if." And Shim also warns Intel not to put too many eggs in the MeeGo basket, which is a hard sell to developers in a field crowded with Hewlett-Packard's WebOS and RIM's QNX, in addition to Android." url...What do you think about the possibility of Intel Atom competing with the Tegra 2 processor for Android tablet marketshare? If Google has to support mutliple tablet processors with Honeycomb and eventually Ice cream, will that create more bottlenecks or opportunities and options?

My husband's iPhone 3GS isn't connecting to our wifi even though the network is showing in his list of networks. Both my iPhone 4s and my son's iPod touch are connecting ok. I've switched his wifi on and off, switched the phone on and off and reset network settings but it is still not working. In my wifi options our network has a tick against it but on his the processing circle thing is against it.

when i try and connect it to my WiFi it doesnt do anything. By this i mean that it doesn't connect but also an error message doesn't pop up. The little loading icon just stays there the whole time and doesn't make any progress. It has been like this for about 2 or 3 weeks now and i haven't updated it or done anything that might have caused this problem. Occasionally i do get the blue signal lines at the top of my screen but they disappear as soon as i try and do something with the internet. I am currently on version 5.0.1.

I have had my iphone 4s since the end of March with no problems, yet withing the last week or so it doesn't seem to be able to access the wifi properly, even when it shows me having full wifi signal. I noticed the problem first on facebook but just thought it was a fault with facebook, then i found that i was having connection problems in safari, app store, spotify etc. My laptop still connects fine so i dont think its a problem with the hub. I have tried resetting the network settings, checked for updates, restarted the phone but nothing seems to be working. the connection occasionally works for a couple of minutes then it just goes again.

My iPhone 4s cannot connect to ANY WiFi network. My ipad, Mac Book Pro all do without any issues, both at home and the office. I've reset all my settings and even reset my phone to factory settings. Iit still won't connect, just a constant spinning wheel looking for a network. Is this something ISO 6 will fix?

I just got internet after moving to a new apartment. My computer is fully connected, but my iphone isn't. It recognizes the wi-fi network but won't load internet. Why would this be? It's an iphone 5 using 7.1.2. I've reset network settings, but that hasn't done anything.

My iphone only connect to WIFI in the same room, as soon as I walk about 15 foot away from the router it disconnects and will not pick it up. All my other devices work perfectly even in the garden. I have reset my router/phone/network settings. Baring in mind that my phone is 1 week old as my old one broke.

It was conecting fine at home. at work I always had the 3g symbol as work will not share their wifi. Downloaded a ring tone today through the app store then went out. Came home and noticed when using the internet it was 3G and not my wifi - kept telling me unable to connect, Asked it to forget this network then tried to rejoin just keeps saying unable to connect? I'm stuck in the UK with my tech savvy son in Aus - hence he bought me the phone. My internet at home is fine,
